You talking about the harsh events and ideologies that destroyed other cultures, people and places was so important. I have been watching your videos for a while but wow, this made me gain a new sort of respect for you.
And you’re right. Too often we visit places and forget to learn about the culture and people originating there and flock to the cold aesthetic tourist sites and fail to see the beauty in our diversity. Lovely video!

    Hi Alina,
Very good coverage of such an emotional location! For my video about Hiroshima, I also have piano music.
Two things to add, which makes it even sadder. The US deliberately spared out Hiroshima from conventional bombing, because it was on the list as possible target for atomic bombing. The wanted to study the devastation which could be caused by only one atomic bomb. The second thing is, how the actual bomb dropping was done caused, that most people where not sheltered leading to even more deaths. And one additional sad fact is, the bomb was dropped right above the atomic dome, You covered in the video. They wanted to target the bridge, but missed it slightly.
Again: Great video to show the world the consequences of violence, wrong leadership and war!
    👍🏻
    Best regards, Ralf

Great video on Hiroshima and you really make great points. It's a reminder of the horrors of not just war but what a person can cause. Another thing I did see here though was how even if we suffer, we are just as capable of enduring and rebuilding and that gives me hope for a brighter future. Besides the historical context, I found Hiroshima to be very relaxing and laid back. Okonomimura was a highlight for me but I did make the mistake of getting my okonomiyaki served on a plate.

    Hello Alina San,
Thank you very much for your video on Hiroshima, and your emotional walk into the past.
I am an architect and I belong to a family of doctors and surgeons, and I must say that I definitely agree with what you say, so simply, but truly about the price of life.
And also, we have to recall that it is easy to destroy, but much more difficult to build patiently with comprehension and love. You said all this very well.
Besides I’ve liked too the views on Japanese cuisine and cookies that are very beautiful too and interesting too.
But the nostalgia at the end show that you are filled with compassion and sorrow in front of the horror of that bombing. Thank you for that.
Did you know that the same psychopath politicians, like you call then, had the same project in Vietnam in 1954? But they did not do it.
I’ve been in America and crossed the whole country, and I can say that the land is really beautiful and that the people are very kind and brave.
Thank you again for this video on the price of life. Besides, I also feel that you seem to love Asia very much isn’t it?
Maybe love is the solution after all?
Thanks again and please follow your way.
    THANH

Thank you for sharing this video and your thoughts, Alina! I really appreciate what America has offered me so far (as a "foreigner") but have to say that it's scary to see recently that about a half of the anonymous folks on Blind (so the votes are not all Americans) voted that these bombs are justified. Of course, not all the American people would agree, but I have a sense that this is quite a common prospective in America. Years ago I had two American then co-workers told me out of blue/context that the bombs are justified (what does that go to do with work!). There is sort of no rule when it comes to war, but the fact that they can think that random attacks on civilization are justified for whatever the reason is, I have to say those folks are brainwashed. We have long way to go, but there is a hope that so many people visit Hiroshima today:)

I have also been to Hiroshima & Nagasaki and paid my respects to those who perished. However the historian in me would like to ask what was the alternative to win against Japan. An allied invasion would have resulted in more casualties for both sides. Landing on Iwo Jima resulted in 6,200 U.S deaths and Okinawa led to over 13,000 U.S deaths. What would be the casualties of a mainland invasion? President Truman had no choice in the matter as Japan were a lot different to the wonderful Japan we know today.

    • @SiliconValleyCat
      @SiliconValleyCat Рік тому

@@williamcarter361 We really don't know all the "truth" about what had happened and how all the decisions were made. If you want the answer to the common statements you mentioned, I think you should think harder than just buying into the common belief that the government wants you to believe, in order to look justified for their actions. How could the US side have done differently, etc.? Japan could have surrendered earlier if the US didn't demand unconditional surrender? Otherwise, you would do anything to win, and you want to feel justified? How could you expect other countries do better than the US then? By the way, I think the one attaches first is the evil is the Western way (or just US and Britain) of looking at things. That may be why it seems that the US and Britain use the tactics of inviting others to attach first or initiate, and declare that they are justified to do whatever. There is a sense of entitlement there. In the end, that kind of mindset is hurting the US more than Japan today. There is so much violence this country is still suffering today (from getting involved in unnecessary wars to mass shooting). I like American's openness and optimistic attitude though.

Very good video on a tough subject. The general in charge of the bombing of Japan actually said that if they didn't want to drop the A-bomb that he could force the Japanese to surrender by massive air raids and the dropping of Napalm bombs as they did to Toyko. ( more people died in the napalming of Toyko that in any of the battles in WW2 with the vast majority being Japanese) Many Japanese were burned to death. President Truman had a long hard debate on whether the A- bomb should be dropped or not. In the end he ordered the dropping of the A-bomb. My self, If I let myself think about it; I am on a teeter-toter and could very easily freeze in a position of indecision. Never-the-less, the decision was made and the results were devastating, but napalming the Japanese into submission would have been equally devastating and possibly worse. It was just one of those terrible moments in history of lose-lose and no chance of even a win-lose. Politically, the USA lost a lot of goodwill around the world over this decision.

I couldn't literally breathe for a moment, darn it....!!!! It's so depressing even to think of what they would have gone through.... I can't delineate it's so freaking saddening☹....sometimes I wonder why some powerful people bring about such detestable acts of violence on innocent people..!!!! who are they to decide sombody's fate.....!! I have heard somewhere that, If we don’t end war, war will end us.....still we see wars going on throughout the world.... I hope the people in power find peace....with this small human life span we have we should just be kind and loving and not go on wars....it is a human phenomenon to love and be loved.... That's all we need.....!!!!!!
And as always this video is so well made.... nicely composed...wow...!!! Look what you made us feel....what you made us think....!!!! The background score is so soothing...so pleasing to the ear.

Can you tell about the radiation level at atom bomb dropping point and the surrounding areas? Looking at the greenery ( green grass, trees with green leaves ) and people roaming near the place it seems to me that the raditation level from the fall out has come to normal within 78 years or earlier which is very surprising given the time needed for a place to become radiation free after a n atomic bomb explosion. Some very important, practical and wise thought that I much apppreciate.

The song by Edwin Star said it best:
    War, huh,
    What is it good for?
    Absolutely nothing,
This is true in the most general of terms, but unless one is involved, the thoughts and motives of the leaders of the combatants always find ways to justify their actions. The actual combatants just want it to end with their survival. The non combatants are just incidental to the conflict.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki have served as beacons of what total destruction looks like. Neither side really understood the what the effects of such weapons would be until they had been used. Even now destruction by conventional weapons is horrific and some advocate limited use of nuclear weapons. Both sides always claim peace is their goal. Humans have the ability to self delude that they have the ability to control events that almost always unfold in unpredictable ways.
Hiroshima is a contrast, terrible destruction and loss of life on one side. Human resilience and rebirth on the other side.
My attendance to both Hiroshima and Nagasaki had a strong personal effect on me. The rebirth of these communities was and is outstanding. If one did not know the history of what had occurred it would be possible to believe it never happened.
I didn't spend enough time seeing the sites and positives of Hiroshima, but I honestly don't know if I will visit again. You video has at least moved it the must consider list. As always nicely done Alina.

Thanks for this. I share your sentiments about this. Unfortunately, the majority of people do not count to the power brokers, politicians, and the military industrial complex in many "civilized" countries. People are expendable pawns, and the leaders keep doing it over and over again. For example, is anyone seriously talking about peace in Ukraine? Absolutely not. Just more and more weapons pouring in while the jaded taxpayers sit idly by, largely oblivious of the human catastrophe that will only get worse over time. There are no winners, and only a legacy of human suffering will be left because nobody is interested in the other person's point of view or interest, in the first place.
I recommend visiting Auschwitz and Berkenau to understand why the Jewish people rightly will never let us forget. My visit there was life changing.
Keep on being the caring person that you are.

When the dogs of war are unleashed they can quickly spin out of control such as what happened in the Pacific Theater. The fighting in the Pacific Theater was savage and brutal during those times. The Japanese would literally fight to the last man, woman, and child. The reasoning behind the use of the atomic bomb was to end the war quickly as possible with minimum loss to all sides.
There were no good solutions during that time and it was decided that the use of atomic weapons was the best option given that a US invasion of the Japanese home islands would have been far more costlier to all sides. But the ultimate lesson from Hiroshima is the necessity for preventing war. Unfortunately, due to the nature of man, that also means ensuring effective, credible, deterrence to deter and prevent war.

So much time and labour was dedicated to finding if they could build a bomb like this and not much time deciding if they should build it, the final decision was not in the hands of scientists to use it, sadly the world still lives with the consequences of military technology and war atrocities ✌️♥️🇬🇧 hopefully never again

All through history, time and time again, all it seemed to take was one sociopathic asshole to lead enough people into an abyss that caused massive suffering and the same thing is happening right now.
Thanks for this thoughtful and inspiring video. Reminds that there is empathy and love out there.

    Chapter 2 92
Flames, golden colors visible from heaven to earth
Falling from an unbeatable height, an astonishing catastrophe occurs
Massacre of humans attacked by a big bomb "Little Boy"
A horrific death, a proud man lets loose
    Nostradamus is great.
    Too awesome.
Is this what you mean when you say proud people go wild? ↓
    The Truman Memoirs writes:
"Japanese are beast. So are treated as"
Former U.S. President Truman appeared on the CBS TV program "Let's Talk Now" on the 2nd, and said, "After ordering the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I didn't feel any guilt. In case of emergency, it is certain that the hydrogen bomb will be used."
(He snapped his fingers this time like Paul Maki.)

Yes I agree that it was tragic that the atomic bomb was used, but maybe we should consider a few points...1) Japan brought the US into the war on Dec 7 1941, where Japan bombed a unannounced defenseless Honolulu Hawaii thousands lost their lives. 2) I think in all fairness Alina should visit Nanking China where in1937 over 200,000 innocent Chinese babies, children, women, and men were brutally slaughtered by Japanese military . Women were raped and then burned or killed after this inhuman act happened with the Japanese government and military turning a blind eye, this continued for 6 weeks and definitely longer to the end of the war wherever Japan occupied. 3) If you read historical accounts, it was said that the war in Asia could of lasted another 10 years and involved up to 1 million more Canadian, American, British, French, Soviet, etc casualties if the atomic bomb was not used. I personally know of an 18 year old man who was waiting in Leyte Philippines, waiting with 100's of thousands of other soldiers waiting to be sacrificed in the ending of a war they were innocently drawn into. Again yes it was a tragedy that the A-bomb was dropped and hopefully it will never be used again. But I think Alina should visit Nanking China and make a video, it might be just as informative as this one, If I offended anyone, I apologize, War is ugly, and hurtful......Matt

you should take better care of the music you put in the background, it conveys restlessness, sadness, anguish. in the end the video always remains a touristic experience. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are cities full of life and the inhabitants of these cities are much less stressed people than the inhabitants of Tokyo and Osaka.

The original melancholy has undoubtedly long faded with the passage of time, but the historical 'flavor' it invokes of the original scene imparts a more meaningful ambience to the video... 😊
