My sub was also doing the heartbeat thump sound. Turns out the C48 4.7uf 35v was defective. Thanks for the video and comments, very helpful guidance. Cheers
My sub was making noise similar to yours and was cutting off at high volume. When I opened it I was dissappointed with the cheap chinese components that was used on the board. I replaced the two 47uf 63v with some old Rubicon 47uf 50v caps. Ive also noticed that some of the other caps were bad as well and replaced them too. The thin tracks made the process a pain in the arse. But it works now. Thank you very much for this video.
THANK YOU! I have same model and called Polk. They don’t give out parts anymore as this model is discontinued. I was having similar constant heartbeat thump on or off. not bad but annoying. Replacing those 2 capacitors fixed it! $400 sub… fixed for $2 shipped. Oh and if never done this kind of thing get a solder sucker. Once opened i had the job done in about 10 minutes. Sure appreciate your video!
THANKS NEWSONS, I know this is an old video but my PSW125 just recently came down with the heartbeat issue. I came across this video and just tried replacing those capacitors didn't test anything else and that fixed it. Sub is back in action just like new!
That soldering was difficult! I swapped the two and now the power light doesn’t light up. Fuse inside is ok. Back side of the circuit board might’ve been damaged when I pulled old caps out.
thank you Newson. Your fix worked on my 125 also. Interestingly when I ordered new capacitors I noticed that the manufacturers quote component life in hours of use., some as little as 1000hrs
Thank you. I have a PSW125. Replaced the capacitors you described with the 47uf 50, the actual capacitor on the board is a 47uf 63. I saw below that you said it's ok with the 50. The sub is working again! Thanks!
Hey , Thanks a lot for a informative video, Can you please let me know the values of the MOSFETS on the main board which you tested. I have burnt ones on my board and not able to make out its value . Also the two resistors vertically placed between the 2nd and 3rd MOSFET are burnt . Would be obliged if you please share the values of these components. . Thanks
another success story here in Spain! Symptons were "buzzing electric sound", "hearbeats" and after a while it stopped totally. I removed the plate, bought the capacitors and asked for someone else to do the replacement. What is weird is that the "buzzing electric sound" is still there. I tried replacing the LFE cable, switching power outlets... but nothing. The louder the volume, the louder the buzzing. When playing music, I do not notice it. Only when idle. What could this be? THANKS A LOT!
Hi Newsons, I have one of these and I am trying to repair it. On the Drive board next to the (J1) Connector there is a small resistor that has blow on mine and I need to know the value. It come from the output of pin 6 of IC#UC3843 through the 47.5ohm resistor and then to that small resistor that is burn. Can you tell me the value of that resistor? Thanks.
I have the same issue with PSW110. When I Turn it on it sounds like it is tuning a radio station and when it bring up the volume it goes away for a moment and get back again intermittently loosing bass. Can the solution be the same for this issue? I had it go for repair couple of times but the engineer is nt able to identify the root cause. My problem is precisely the same.
PSW 110,111,125 have the same plate amplifier, PWS505 amplifier seems to be difrent, this amplifier is a 150W RMS, your is 300W RMS. Anyway i think the class of amplifier is the same, they are BASH amplifiers, and also in yours there will be capacitors that have the same purpose, but maybe the circuit is different and you need to identify where they are, so it can help you to recover the wiring diagram. I add that once you get started it is better to replace all the capacitors that filter the PWM supply on the output of the transformer, after the rectifier diodes, in this amplifier, in addition to C38 and C39 as in the video, also C12 and C14, in yours you have to identify which are . They replacements must be 105 ° C low inductance capacitors, better if they hare also long life kind, a good choice are those of the FR series from Panasonic

Sub sounds amazing again! Thanks so much for the speedy repair!
glad to help out
Replaced the two you recommended and I'm good to go again!! Thanks!! Saved me a ton!!
nice

I just fixed mine yesterday. Thank you very much!!!
sweet
Thanks! Just did this fix as well.

Thanks for the video - it helped fix my sub as well!
I just fixed today. Thank you very much!!!

caps are 47/50v or 47/63V? what is shown in video is 63V while its said 50V in your description.
50v is fine, the voltage rail does not go over 50V
My Polk audio Psw125 tends to cut out at certain times. I opened it up and it looks like a capacitor may have blown.
I have a psw111 same heartbeat problem. I have the caps on order
Please anyone share the primary power section SMD resistor value
Hi what should the low pass nob be set at on a polk xt12 sub

Nice video!
Did you use a solder to take the bad caps out and solder in the new ones?
yes

give it a try
Hi. I have a Polk PSW110. It stopped working and I see that it has a blown fuse. Can you let me know what should be the fuse specification?
check on the pcb board
I have the psw505 with the heartbeat problem. I have not opened it up yet but do you think the caps are the same?
may be different have to open it up to see.

Mine has a similar problem could it be the capacitors? ua-cam.com/video/T9ju5WWZnjk/v-deo.html A little bit after that it didn't output any sound.
