    Very helpful video. Just some observations after completing the task...
    No need to remove the airbox. Just disconnect the sensor and remove the section from the top of the airbox that runs across the top of the engine.
    No need to remove the engine mount to do the pump and belt. Maybe necessary to do the tensioner?
    Access is easy enough through the holes in the water pump pulley. After removing the nuts gently tapping the back of the pulley with a hammer should loosen the pump body from the engine.
    About 4 litres of coolant refilled the system, but it hadn't been completely drained.

    I am only 5 mins into your video so far, from a garage point of view so far I like what I see. I stumbled upon your channel by accident. Good to see some safety first with axle stands. Also I like where you are draining the coolant, we tend not to use the drain ports on radiators where possible as once disturbed they can be a nightmare. If I can give you one bit of advice.. Don't sit a tray of sockets on anything where its likely to fall down into the engine bay, I've seen it so many times lol. Good luck and happy spannering

    Love this, saved me some good pennies, I’ve just done a full service and installed a new thermostat on mine. About to take off the air intake system (to clean it) and replace the EGR valve tomorrow.
    By the time I’ve completed it all (plus the pump etc) I would have saved nearly £800 in labour fees. I have a little background with Diesel engines and love to get stuck in.
    Going to try this lot out next week! Wish me luck 💪

      Nice one. Glad it helped! A quick heads up... Thermostat is very fiddly so try and make as much room as possible as there is a lot of different pipes going onto it👍🏻

      George Austers thank you did you have to remove the fuel pump or brake vacuum pump to replace the thermostat?

    Hi George, I have a 2005 Corsa SRI 1.8 which just ticked over 60k miles. I recently had a garage install a Gates timing belt kit and new auxiliary belt. The car feels great but it now makes a whirring noise when accelerating through 1st and 2nd. The garage says it sounds fine but it sounds quite different since having everything changed. Bearing in mind that the belt tension sets itself, is it normal for a new belt to sound different or would a whirring sound indicate the belt is too tight? I've done 1k miles since and it still sounds the same. Thanks!

    Excellent tutorial but I have to ask; why and how did you support the sump with those planks of wood? How did you do it? I think you should have shown that as well- as I'm about to do this and now I'm terrified the engine will fall out if I don't do it, lmao.

      Just a block of wood on the jack engine won’t fall out you’ll be fine

      @@GeorgeAusters yes please if that's fine as newbies like me have no idea about them. I saw 1/3 1/2 brekabars and I have no idea what's the difference. Many thanks

    Very nice video! I need to replace the serpentine belt on my 1.3 CDTI engine. My question is. What settings did you have on your torque wrench when thightning up the engine mounts?
    Also i wonder if i need to replace my water pump aswell, because i've had to refill the coolant from just under minimum to max lvl like 3 or 4 times this year, and i can't see any coolant leaking from the hoses.

    • @GeorgeAusters
      @GeorgeAusters  4 роки тому +1

      You’ll have to check the torque settings online mate, I can’t remember now.
      If you’re losing coolant then you’re either burning it or it’s leaking👍🏻

      @@GeorgeAusters Oh 🙁 By burning it you mean a possible bad headgasket?

    I nearly had a 'MAJOR' problem whilst trying to get my belt tensioner off,to get the belt fully off my corsa d i would need to take the engine mount off in engine bay, I started removing the bottom bolt of the tensioner and my heart dropped!! when the bolt snapped and part of the bolt was still in the block,I was sooooooo lucky part of the bolt was sticking out of the block and not seized,i managed to get it out with pliers by slowly turning it.Not sure but should I have released the tension in the spring using that small hole to release the tension on the spring and bottom bolt,thats why I think the bottom bolt snapped as the spring was still on tension putting pressure on the bolt.

    • @GeorgeAusters
      @GeorgeAusters  4 роки тому +2

      If the belt is off then the tensioner shouldn’t be under tension?

    • @jamesmcrory8990

      George Austers I have a corsa d 1.2 5dr Hatchback 2010, the belt was off, I started undoing the bottom bolt of the tensioner which was tight but half way through it snapped leaving half the broken bolt in the block, I shit myself I was so lucky half the bolt was sticking out so I could ease it out, I have read problems putting the new tensioner on about can’t get the bottom bolt lined up with hole in Block as spring needs compressing
