The song "ANAK" was originally a story like that of Freddie Aguilar's own story as the prodigal son who went astray as he was growing up and ended up involved with many vices gambling, women, crimes, alcohol and drugs. As time goes by he realized his many mistakes and was very remorseful and tried very much to be reconciled with his father and mother. William, I can tell you why KZ did not make it even though she is very very good. Just like you see the Oscar nomination that some actors were so good but did not win because they're over-acted. KZ sings the touching-family-love song somehow she was over-singing it so listeners were overwhelming. It is the same like when you over-praying and saying good thing about someone you like, pretty soon the person was not convinced, and she/he might think you are being insincere or you have a motive. I wanted KZ to make it to the finale but when I see her expression during her singing I thought she was over-singing and made an emotional song sadder than it should be.

The song "ANAK" was originally a story like that of Freddie Aguilar's own story as the prodigal son who went astray as he was growing up and ended up involved with many vices gambling, women, crimes, alcohol and drugs. As time goes by he realized his many mistakes and was very remorseful and tried very much to be reconciled with his father and mother.
In KZ's rendition she pointed out the remorseful side of the prodigal son and to remember love of her parents/God as our Father but removed the main story line and added some Mandarin lyrics that pointed out more of the love side of the story. You can sense that the words used were taken or inspired from many Bible passages example remember me in your days of old when you are cold hold on to me dearly, when tired and very weary let me wipe your tears or pain away, just hold on to me dearly and call upon my name and remember my love that never fades away

William, I can tell you why KZ did not make it even though she is very very good. Just like you see the Oscar nomination that some actors were so good but did not win because they're over-acted. KZ sings the touching-family-love song somehow she was over-singing it so listeners were overwhelming. It is the same like when you over-praying and saying good thing about someone you like, pretty soon the person was not convinced, and she/he might think you are being insincere or you have a motive. I wanted KZ to make it to the finale but when I see her expression during her singing I thought she was over-singing and made an emotional song sadder than it should be.
Apple路见不平拔刀相助 if you really understood the song, or if you knew the real meaning behind the song's sweet melody, you probably wouldn't say that. There's a Mandarin-Chinese translation but i don't think they're accurate enough nor did they give justice to the song's real message. And that's exactly what KZ wanted to convey--it's not just because of her style. They say there are 2 perspectives to the song: the parents' perpective where they were narrating their emotions and experiences in rearing up the subject of this song, the Child ("Anak"), and the child's perspective (which i think what KZ took in) which relates his/her acknowledgement of his/her parents' love, guidance and sacrifices (efforts) whilst feeling guilt and regret at the same time for her/his MISTAKE (misgivings) vs. the parents which he/she happened to hurt (so much).
