Marian, this is the British spirit when times are tough. Everyone has to do their bit.
3 score and 10 boys and men sailed to Dunkirk, the soldiers was saying where is the RAF ? In fact they was shooting down stukas before they got to them ,,, alot of brave freshmen gave them time
"1917" Is another excellent war movie. This movie was directed by Christopher Nolan that's why you will see a lot of familiar actors that he uses in his movies.
1940, just before France fell to the Germans. My father was captured with the rear guard at Dunkirk. He spent 5 years as a prisoner.
Christopher Nolan showed the film to some veterans, men in their 90's. They said the film was louder than the battle.
Great reaction guys, to a wonderful movie.
Dunkirk timeline is 26th may to 4th June 1940 16000 french soldiers died and 1000 British Omaha beach 3686 US casualties 777 killed gold beach British 1020 casualties 350 killed
WTF are you talking about. The US weren't even in WW2 in 1940. Your comment is unclear. Please tell me you know your history. The idiots doing this viewing this film know absolutely nothing . They are embarrassing as humans
In Dunkirk (2017), Mr. Dawson's character was inspired by a real person named Charles Lightroller. He was the 2nd Officer on the Titanic and appeared in the 1997 film. He survived the Titanic sinking and later served in WWI and took part in the Dunkirk evacuation during WWII.
Great reaction! It's one of those types of war movies where you watch from perspective of the losing side, but there are small victories like when the fishing vessels show up and Tom Hardy's character protects the beach one last time.
The small boats rescued 300,000 soldiers, with their rifles, from Dunkirk.
I feel like this movie is underrated. It is a bit confusing at first with the timeline, but it really comes together well once you recognize what's going on. It makes it re-watchable. Overall I think this was a great movie and it did a terrific job showing how scary war can be. It wasn't a war movie with a ton of tanks, explosions, etc. The parts where all you hear is a random gunshot from a distance and hear the "ping" as the bullet comes through the boat hull or the torpedo going through the water. The quietness of it is what makes it scarier. I do wish that it would have been a bit more realistic with the injuries (aka blood) because war was hell and I don't think it should be sugar coated, but it was still a really good movie that tells a story that not as many people know worldwide unless they're a WWII fan. I think this is actually one of Nolan's best overall movies and it was a great movie to watch in theater.
There was one man who came out in a kayak with only room to save one other man. Each one counts!
Mostly the small boats ferried men from the beach to the larger navy ships.
8:04 Mark!
Quote:
These U-boats (an abbreviation of Unterseeboot, the German word for “undersea boat”) prowled the oceans in search of prey and could attack ships 20 times their size from both above and below the surface with their deck guns and torpedoes. March 21, 2022.
End quote.
The point of the tiny boats was they could go right up to the beach and ferry people out to the bigger boats.
Joy!🤣 24:00🐔🐔🐔, 37:11. If you haven’t seen 1917, it’s a must and it has its own uniqueness, just as Dunkirk is unique with the timelines.
6:11 Mark! Hi! Haha! I saw this and "The Eternals" both at the local movie theater. I wondered why the guy looked so familiar! Now I know! Thanks to you! 😊
An even better experience on the big screen!....✌️❤️❤️!...
The Captain of the small boat was in "Ready Player One"
I was lucky enough to see this in theaters. The sound was everything. It was loud, but it was important to the art. I hope it's the closest I ever come to war.
38:34 Mark! Thumb Up #210! 👍 You're welcome, and thanks! ☺️
Notes: Hmm. This version has less time spent in pubs than previous versions. 😳 (I've seen the B&W versions and documentaries.)
"Bane" is that character's name! 😅
I was imagining the pilot character, and that version of "Bane" switching places at a critical moment would make it funny! 😂
Announcer: "See movies about England all the time on 'The English Channel'!" 😂😅
Thanks for the fun! ☺️
Wha the British civilians did on that day changed ALL our lives. 100000% HEROES
7:31 Mark! Hospital ships aren't armed! That makes them legal targets! As it is, the attack on it is illegal! 😮
There's a spitfire coming to Luke AFB on Monday. An actual serving fighter that helped save the planet from destruction
Excellent movie! So well done..
It was tactics over technology.
The music is by Hans Zimmer. The very moving music at the end is his version of Nimrod by Edward Elgar.
Good morning everyone
It was absolutely right for the British to prioritise British troops. Every one them would have been available to defend the homeland, whereas the French troops could leave and go back to French territories - which a large number did.
This lady has a brain! She got every complex point very clearly! Nolan is a genius!
Interesting history!
I needed to watch the film in the theatres a couple of times before it all sunk in and made sense. Lots of big name actors in this one!
👏🏽👏🏽W O W!!👏🏽👏🏽
The German defeat at Stalingrad in early 1943 was the turning point in the East, where the Germans had the most men
21:22 well they are the one who started the war. They should at least be prepared right?
This is the best joy quote so far 😂
Speaking of Military, watch Black Hawk Down Extended Edition, 13 Hours, Platoon & Navy Seals. More War movies for you.
thanks for the suggestions
Hopefully you will react to the film (Darkest Hour) 2017 when you can, it shows things from the other side of this story in GB. It stars Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill. Operation Dynamo was a true historical event, there have been re-enactments by surviving little ships over the years since.
Next, Watch Greyhound (2020)
❤ from Sri Lanka
I think someone has a bit of a crush on Tom Hardy? Anyone who likes Tom Hardy should check out "Locke", where essentially it's just him in a car the entire movie. Sounds boring but it's the opposite, with tension and great acting.
Oh and in case you're wondering, no his face isn't covered at all. Well worth a watch IMO.
The German 6th army which invaded Western Europe in 1940 was annihilated after being surrounded by the Russians at Stalingrad so that was a major factor when it came to D Day
The ship should not have been attacked since it is painted white with big red crosses indicating it is a medical ship. The ship would not have any guns since it is noncombatent
The US had not entered the war at that time. They didn't until the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbour on December 7, 1941.
"👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽"!!"
