- I interviewed strangers to find out what French people really think about Britai, British people and the British culture. I was really surprised by the responses!
Also, after some introductions, I asked some tricky trivia questions! :)
The result is an interesting, fun and relaxing video, and we also learn some new things! :)

I traveled around up to Scotland and absolutely loved every part of my experience. The British are really awesome people and I truly think that they are our brothers and sisters as we complete each other :) I look forward to coming back to this marvellous country!

As an Englishman I absolutely LOVE France and the French - they are our European brothers/sisters
Merci beaucoup for those amazing and heartwarming words! 🤗☺️ yes we are indeed all brothers and sisters!
It’s our media that makes us all think we dislike each other.
I disagree, It's the Politicians who sow division between the French and British people.
I love the French people,it's a beautiful country but I hate with a passion French Governments who have failed to secure their countries borders which has put both the French and British people at risk fro illegal immigrants.
Very well said,totally agree,
@@AdrianSamsI always thought politicians try to cement good relations with orher countries, there's bad English people and the same goes for the French.
For me it was seeing comments made by French people online that made me think this not the media. I noticed alot of French are extremely snobbish about brits and Irish.
And around 1000 years of history/conflict...! (I love France and the French 🙂)
As an English man, I absolutely love going to France. Its the best other country.
Merci beaucoup for these kind words! ☺️🇫🇷
Driving through Northern Spain, we thought we'd cross into France and find a hotel and somewhere to eat. At 8pm, everywhere was closed. We had to turn back and drive back into Spain, where restaurants don't start serving dinner until 10pm.
I also love France (although not especially Paris), and have always found French people very kind and friendly. I love my home in Wales but could be happy in France.
I think the French are great people. As an English man I have a mutual liking and admiration for them. Their country has been a very creative one over the centuries
And I think the exact same thing about the British! The UK's history, culture, architechure and landscapes are absolutely marvellous, and everyone has always been so kind to me there that I cannot feel anything other than love for the country. As a French, I send love to our brothers and sisters from the other side of the Channel :)
Lease tell us what is great about them,I found them friendly in brittany once they found out I was from Wales,I get the feeling they didn't like the English especially loud londoners, dog mess on paths, public toilets filthy, drinks expensive and groceries, on the plus side, beaches fantastic,I think there's good and bad in both countries, mainly it seems from people who live in large cities such as London and Paris.
I love the French and love their country. I also like that they stand up for themselves.
The lady with a son in Taunton has got it. She understands 😊
Defintely got a son working as an engineer at Hinkley point.
This was delightful to watch, I smiled the whole time. As a Canadian who has benefitted from both the French and English cultures and traditions, I can safely say both places are wonderful. I have travelled extensively over many years in the U.K. and France. I love both and I am happy to see kind comments and good will shown here. I have a soft spot for the British Isles because of my heritage, and a love of France because of their way of living. Cheers to both!

I love coming to France. I've always found it very friendly (outside Paris!)... friendlier than the UK certainly. And French people stick up for their rights more!
Recently I took my family to the Loire Valley. We had an amazing time, the people were just so nice. At least once a day one of us will say “I wish I was still in France”

I think the average French and Brit are very similar, we all believe in democracy, law and order, we treasure our history, we respect individual rights.

On a cruise we stoped in Toulon…we absolutely fell in love with it…the people are so friendly and helpful and it’s such a beautiful place…the year after we went to Marseille and fell in love with that too…I think we need to explore more about France..its culture and history….and its food and wine too
Yes, there are a lot of places to explore ☺️
I haven't been there, but my brother and sister-in-law just visited a few weeks ago. They were surprised how much they liked Toulon, and saw an Olympic football match in Marseilles, which is a famously exciting and very old city of course. All my family love France.
I like when I go to France that they insist on speaking French. I think that is fine and makes me learn a little.
@biddyboy1570 I don't mind I know a little French enough to order things and ask basic questions but when I last went in 2003 I couldn't for the life of me speak it, so I ended up having to write everything down. The French shopkeepers and restaurant staff were amused, but also appreciative that I made the attempt 😄
Things I like about England: efficiency, slim bureaucracy, beer, the atmosphere you get in pubs, the banter you get in sports, very friendly shop assistants, the countryside full of wild blackberries and apples, cream tea, the beaches in the south west. Also the weather isn’t bad, a bit rainy, but the sun also comes out quite often, it never gets too cold like Scandinavia or Germany.
I love the dordogne region. Lovely people, cuture, and its so green, clean, and picturesque.
I want to retire there.
Beautiful country.
I love it!
As a Brit who lives in Central Europe, I love driving over the border into Eastern France and exploring the picturesque villages and towns in that area. It's never too late to learn! It's still far from perfect but still, I'm glad I'm able to fully experience your great country by being able to have genuine conversations with the locals!
I asked a French guy about the French. He said the people of Paris consider people outside Paris to be inferior and that people outside Paris think Parisians to be snobbish. He concluded that even the French don't like the French... 😂😂😂🇬🇷
This guy gets it, it's like a love/hate relationship where in the end, Parisian love to spend their vacations in other parts of France as much as the French living outside Paris love to visit the capital city!
I once heard it said the United Kingdom is so United because the Scottish dislike the English, the Irish dislike the English, the Welsh dislike the English and the English, dislike everyone including,....most of the English.

Thank you :). Yes it was quite incredible, I was by the seaside to film more interviews and I felt a few drops. Then it started to pour down so much and I ran to shelter under a nearby roof until the rain calmed-down (and I was able to interview someone who had come to shelter too!). On my way back home that day I saw a number of drain covers that had lifted and rested by the side of the drain hole! This shows how strong the rain was. It was sunny the next day ☺️
@@AFrenchguyinEngland That’s because rain clouds come in from the Atlantic, cross Britain then head for France. They are always on the move. But we all ignore that because pretending clouds are static is a great conversation starter.

Great coincidence because I saw a BBC video yesterday about Wells and its oldest street in Europe, so I really want to visit some day!
Now I know the same is true the other way around. I know English people who've moved to France, and who were helped out by locals when they needed help with understanding how to do something. Glad to hear they were looked after and treated right in Britain.
For old enemies, you've turned out to be remarkably good friends.
I agree with the sentiment about Britain and British things being in Britain and France and French things being in France. It's important each of our cultures survive, both have contributed vastly to human advancement, both must be encouraged to continue developing according to the wants and whims of our respective peoples. So that can continue. Leaving the EU was (for me) in part about that. Not about disliking anything French or German, completely the opposite. I recently visited Berlin (30 years later) and was disappointed by how much of my culture and language was everywhere. Berlin should be German, a bit of England/English mixed in is one thing, but in places there was as much England/English as there is in London. Didn't seem right to me. I loved (just as much as I did 30 years ago) Berlin, but it could have done with having less of my ways and language in it.
The average person is fine and can get along most of the time, the biggest problem any country faces tends to be terrible and morally corrupt politicians looking for money and most importantly power.
As an Englishman I love France and its people and its geography however I must admit l do like a bit banter between us every now and again 🇬🇧🇫🇷
Merci! 🇫🇷🏴🇬🇧😄
Well, that went better than I was expecting! I was expecting the French to universally hate us. 😆 In all the times I've visited France, I've only met one person I didn't like, and that was a bus driver in Nice who refused to even entertain my attempts at schoolboy French. I may as well have been attempting to speak to him in some obscure Chinese dialect than in French, but maybe he was just having a bad day! But apart from him, I absolutely love the French. 😊 P.S. I did study French to advanced level for six years at school, but that was a long time ago. So I can admit that my French is rusty, but I didn't think it was incomprehensible. They always seem to understand me when I have to speak French on my frequent trips to Morocco! 😆

I'm heartened by the positive remarks though a bit confused by the lady saying she couldn't find anything to eat in London and ended up with a banana because she couldn't find an apple. As for breakfast, most hotels offer a choice of continental or English and a lot of bars that open in the morning will offer lots of choice, even in the little town where I live I can get a range of breakfast from English to Shakshuka, Mezze and Tapas.
From what I understood, her English skills were not good enough for her to describe what she wanted to eat :) As a French, I've rarely seen as much restaurants as I did in London so I never felt I was going to starve hahaha

No, British people don't want French people to be like them, and they don't want to be like the French. We all want to share cultures. It makes the World more interesting. Vive la difference!
Yes, the different cultures are very interesting. And we can be different but still be friends ☺️ 🏴🇬🇧🇫🇷
I live in Taunton and know a few French people here; maybe I know her son. I must ask.
I live in Taunton too! ☺️ the world is very small!
Il y a quatre pays dans le Royaume Uni!
Oui c’est vrai
England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland iirc! We French people commonly refer to the British as "les Anglais"/the English but we are well aware that it's a country with multiple nations :)
@@louloubrubru8692oui 😊 exactement ☺️
You are very welcome ☺️ I’m glad you like the video ☺️
The French have a very long history of loving the UK.
Oui! Much love from France! ❤️🤗🇫🇷🏴🇬🇧
As a Folkestonian, France was my next door neighbour.
I wish the UK was my next door neighbour, but I live in the French Alps!
I used to live in Ashford so we were indeed neighbours! ☺️🤗
SOMERSET!TAUNTON!
Yes 🤗🏴🇬🇧🇫🇷
And the following video was filmed in Taunton ☺️: “I asked British people what they think about the French”
ua-cam.com/video/fJ81dZ9y-Kw/v-deo.html
I like the French people they have a two hour lunch break. And drink wine.
Oh yes, I would love to have this long lunch break instead of the 20 minutes we have at work! But then we would have to finish work later 😄
I think it depends where you go in England or France which depends what people are like.
London and Paris are capital cities so people a grumpy and rude because everything is all business, but go to the countryside and people are more down to earth and relaxed
Also ... Ø is a Norwegian letter.. As far as I know Only country in the World that has it. Well ....and Denmark. Yes I did Notice your Mic. :)
You have a very good eye! Yes it is the Rode microphone brand :) perhaps they are from Scandinavia ☺️
I think France is a great country and have always had an enjoyable time when I've visited.
Merci beaucoup, et bienvenue en France! 🤗☺️🇫🇷🏴🇬🇧
Lovely video. I have often had to explain to English people that the vast majority of French (Germans too) are surprisingly very pro-English, and pro-British. The animosity comes from the European centralist or liberal political class, many of whom became more truculent after the Brexit vote. I am still waiting to meet a French or German I did not get on well with, and have met hundreds, and visited both countries..... great times. Mind you, I think the Europeans are being told everything has collapsed since Brexit. Actually, it was the Tory government, Covid policies, and some other issues that have hurt our economy most. And viewing the news in European countries, they are having similar problems caused by the same kind of politicians. IMHO
Thank you so much! I am very glad you enjoyed watching the video ☺️🤗🇫🇷🏴🇬🇧
Long live entente cordiale.
Also for the record.my step dad is scottish.. but he's brother lived in Switzerland.. so my cousins are fluent in french. One lives in Australia.. Dont get to see him much
That is nice, but I am sorry that you do not see them often.
Can't wait to back to Larochelle, but on a different note , some of the worst food I've ever had, was in France
La Rochelle is very beautiful indeed!
Oh really? That is a shame! What did you have?
I've been to France many times, always had a great time and the French were great, even with my mediocre language skills
I am glad you had a wonderful experience as part of your journey! ☺️ don’t worry about the language skills, I am sure they will improve 😊
London isn't England😮
One of the interviewees mentioned Taunton (Somerset) ☺️ The Lake District was also mentioned.
I don't think anyone suggested that London is the whole of England.
They would have slagged our food off 30 years ago. But France has fallen to Mc D too!
Go to Wales or Scotland for friendly people
So, you know everyone who lives in England is unfriendly then, do you?.
As a French, I've been to Scotland three times (never to Wales sadly, but I will), and I keep coming back because there are just so much beautiful things to see and great people to meet :)
Can I say not all English people are friendly its a miff and English people who come from up North as they say in the UK are the common folk of the country what the French would call peasants, The real French people are more friendlier then UK ppl. France was England back in 1491
Don't be so ridiculous
pardonnez-moi de vous corriger. You mean "its a myth". lol. In spite of your username I don't think you are a Frenchman at all! Maybe an Englishman just trying to cause mischief?
No one mentioned music!
That is a fair comment! Oui! La musique! ☺️🎵🎹🎼
You can’t ask people what they think of the English in a city where English are the minority.
Its like me asking the Chinese what they think of the French in Africa😂
I thought they would say we are Famous for drinking 😀
I am British, don't ask me what i think about the British, you wont like it.
Probably find fault with anyone then😂
@@changelocation Why? Are the British faultless?
@@sonicart1808You notice that nobody is interested in your opinion.
@@neilboulton9813 😆😆😆😆😆😆
You actually think i care.....bless you
Well you asked them about England and the English. I was hoping from the title that you would cover Britain and the British, which is not the same thing. But it was a very interesting video nevertheless.
Thank you very much for your comment and interesting point.
In France we usually refer to British people as “les anglais” instead of “les britanniques”, but in my question I was including everyone ☺️
@@AFrenchguyinEngland yes I speak French and was a student in France and I know that the French only use the word 'Anglais' really. I remember that two other students I knew said they were Scottish and the French in our college treated them like some really interesting almost exotic species, always referring to them as 'Les Ecossais'. It was quite amusing.
That is pretty funny. I think English are more welcomed in France than French in UK ;) 30 years ago it was really obvious.
I've always been so confused why so many elder English people speak fuent french, almost all of them to a degree but spend most of their holidays in Spain.
I believe it is because the weather in Spain is warmer.
You can buy croissants in England 😅😅🥐🥐🥐🥐🥐
But they are often not the same ☺️😄
By the way, in my tongue twisters video on this channel, I give mini croissants to people, please kindly take a look ☺️
Good cheese chat
