Agree with Perkins. His best game was inside. His hips and lateral movement is amazing. I love McGrath off halfback. He kicks blindly in the midfield. It lead to so many turnovers. Davey is talented. He just needs to find a spot where he excels. I think he might be a great defender. Hes got great footskills. Absolutely underrated disposal. I love Nik Cox. Everyone carries on about him. He is going to be a total ripper. Gresham is meh. Maybe defence is on. You are right.... however.... it feels like we are saying.... if you aren't good - lets try them in defence! Elijah Tsatas is an inside mid. We need to let him flourish in there if only to give him currency if we need to trade him.
Great to see you moving the magnets around F. I like Cox up forward. As you said his 2 best games this year was when he played there. What about Wright going to centre half forward? He may be able to clunk a few more marks with leading patterns there? His goal kicking in the AFL is elite, so providing he can start marking and gets 35 or 40 goals because of his accuracy at set shots he will be back on track.
Perkins needs to focus on defensive pressure if he wants to be a midfielder. We can afford him being less defensive when he is in our fwd half. Shiel moving back is a great idea, he will be able to be that back 6 Captain, the calm head that we will need in the last 10 minutes when trying to hold a lead. Andy is too small to be a midfielder, our mids are smaller than most other teams and Andy just adds to it, but he is a great lockdown small defender.
Tsatas needs to play the exact same roll Oliver does for the Dee’s, inside mid is his only shot. Cox forward I like, Davey should join his brother, Martin wing resting forward agree, sheil if fit stays in the mid, wright leave forward and kako do his magic round his legs, Bryan ruck alternate with Draper in bursts out of centre. Setterfield bin,
Shiel-maybe down back in the zorko role, but I doubt he can kick well enough McGrath-stay down back, he's good running out of there and finding targets, not so good at finding targets going inside 50 Martin-definitely need him delivering into the forwards, wing is the only option Perkins-high half forward with half of his time at cba's as our only big bodied option there. We need 30 goals from him and better pressure. Gresham-play him off the bench (in the 2's) he's a downhill skier, useless defensively. Cox-looks more like a forward, he's a tough match up and can play small or tall...maybe a forward pocket. Peter Wright- I reckon a half forward role...target him anywhere forward of the centre square and let him have a shot. he can't seem to attack the fall of the ball hard enough when he's deep in the forward line, so target him further out and let him kick long. Caddy-in the goal square, he'll either mark it or bring it down for kako & guelfi Saad El Hawli- will be awesome off the halfback line with Roberts, we don't need Martin there with those 2
Great video mate I just get so excited for next year every time I watch these looking like were fixing all the things that have bothered us but in such a exciting way what about dursma up front he's so accurate can not wait for next year love the dons go bombers ❤🖤
It is interesting that this time last year we felt that we had too much depth in the back half of the field and now we have little to no depth in that part of the field.
Martin moving back was agreat move. They got much more ball in his hands, had more i50s and more shots on goal in 2024. Also as the season wore on he became more of a threat ..... another string to his bow. Think he will get more looks inside mid in 2025
Shiel in defence?. Do yall not remember how decent he looked when he played time in the fwd line. And guess what we just had an opening in our FWD/MID position
We must must must must must throw some magnets around. I'm verry worried scott wont, he doesn't seem the type but we need to move players round, martin forward, saad etc.
If we have the ball everyone is a forward, if the opposition have it everyone is in defense! But I would also start with Laverde as a forward as that’s what he was drafted as I believe?
The issue with Gresham playing on the Backline is he doesn’t have a defensive bone in his Body. Tsatas needs to be thrown in the Middle and left there to develop. Wright should not get a game unless he corrects the way he presents his hands to the Ball which is why he can’t take a one grab Mark.
Tsatas should only play in the middle if he has earned it. We have good mids and are not good enough as a team to not use our best. Tsatas can develop in other positions or the vfl

I was thinking the same thing. He is a very elusive player. Might just work. Only thing is we lack small defenders. What the hell would we do against Whorethorn?
All Peter Wright has to do is mark the ball again like he used to before his shoulder operation. His kicking from outside and inside 50 is elite so no sense sending him into the backline when he is a proven goalkicker. I like McGrath in the middle but a lot of the time he doesn't look for a target and gives the ball away to the opposition after running it out of the backline. Setterfield is insurance for injuries to defenders and is not in our best 22. Neither is Nik Cox but would be better in defence. We paid overs for Gresham as a replacement for Tippa but he doesn't have the finish or applies any of the forward pressure Tippa did. Hopefully Kako will be put into that role. Leave Redman where he is as both he and Martin both sneak forward anyway.
I agree, Wright can't do much anymore. He rarely leads which means he's sitting in the goal suare with 2 or 3 on him and leaves us no alternative than to bomb the ball in. His marking ability is almost non-existent. He ducks his head all the time expecting a whack in the back of his head which therefore makes him take his eyes off the ball. He's too slow to tackle. The one thing he is good at is his elite kicking for goal so I can't see him in the backline. He has to lift seeing weve lost 42 goals from Stringer
Not sure what "pure mid" means. All great midfielders can play all positions (not including key). Tsatas needs to learn how to dispose of the football or he won't be footballer.
Perkins is too lazy to be a midfielder. He refuses to defend and hasn't improved his running capacity since he joined the club. I don't think he has the drive to get the most out of himself. He strikes me as someone that is content with being on an afl list, whilst taking advantage of the glits and glamour that comes with being an afl player.
martin is a goal sneak , but he has to be given the ball inside 50 , sheil gives a 50/50 ball , 1- he just bombs it , 2- 50 % to us 50% to them the boys just don't know how to read or play the game , start there with a proper coach who can implement fundamentals then the tactics .
Shiel is equal 5th in the comp for centre clearances by average with 3 a game, and has been the sub on 2 or 3 of the games he played. He's far too valuable in the midfield (I'd argue more than parish after the back half of the year) to move to hb imo
I would like to see tsatas, shiel and parish in the midfield, with merrett and Martin playing the Errol gulden role. Merrett isn't as strong a clearance player so could be very handy to get 3 very tidy and well spread age brackets through there
Lets put all our average players in defence … except shiel he looked great in mid so leave him there , cox out , davey out , Wright maybe back then out if no good , Perkins reserves until he learns to work hard , need i go on
This will happen once the midfield is set and we have genuine skilled users to hit targets forward. He can then finish his career back and play for longer.
Cox forward would be hopeless. He was scoring from the wing when he lost his man. That won't happen as permanent fwd. He can't win any sort of contested ball ever.
Not sure if anyone heard Simon Madden's comments on Sen he made very good strong point of views on where the club is going wrong he also talked about how goal kicking is very important but yet the club is happy to lose 42 goals for the season by off loading Stringer for peanuts his comments made a whole lot of sense when he also talked about Essendon's 3 year plan when they have not read the room of what the club really needs maybe Simon Madden should be running the club because the ones in charge right now are a useless bunch of Tossers

Statistically 2MP was our most effective Ruck in 2024. He had a higher ‘to advantage’ % than any of the other players in that role. He is more reliable than Cox when playing that role because he is less likely to be knocked off the ball.

Wright needs a big year, I’m expecting big things from him
ADJ to HB or Wing, Nik Cox to VFL, Caldwell to HB
Wouldn’t mind seeing Cox run through in the ressies, hasn’t really had much of a go in the VFL in his career
@@everythingessendon548 Caldwell to HB like what Brisbane did with Zorko or what Gold Coast did with Flanders
Menzies should play in the skip bin
redman as a HF flanker
Not sure what "pure mid" means. All great midfielders can play all positions (not including key). Tsatas needs to learn how to dispose of the football or he won't be footballer.
Great to have versatility but some midfielders are made to stay in stoppages, Clayton Oliver at his best was the best example of this
Everyone to defence! We wont have anyone up forward 😂
Redman & Archie need to grow their hair back…
Archie Paerkins and Jye Menzie to half back?
Perkins is too lazy to be a midfielder. He refuses to defend and hasn't improved his running capacity since he joined the club. I don't think he has the drive to get the most out of himself. He strikes me as someone that is content with being on an afl list, whilst taking advantage of the glits and glamour that comes with being an afl player.
Definitely needs to improve his work rate
@@theknightwhosmokedthelaugh7156 Exactly right , look at me , im an afl player …whoopdy do , he’ll be soon forgotten
Key takeaway; send everyone down back 😂.
6-6-6 infringement every ball up
@@everythingessendon548 yep.
So we’re just moving everyone to defence
martin is a goal sneak , but he has to be given the ball inside 50 , sheil gives a 50/50 ball , 1- he just bombs it , 2- 50 % to us 50% to them
the boys just don't know how to read or play the game , start there with a proper coach who can implement fundamentals then the tactics .
The great thing about Martin is that he can play genuinely anywhere
i would hav traded Nik Coks i dont think he has the heart just look at the bump on his back that day he went off concuss ?
Shiel is equal 5th in the comp for centre clearances by average with 3 a game, and has been the sub on 2 or 3 of the games he played. He's far too valuable in the midfield (I'd argue more than parish after the back half of the year) to move to hb imo
I would like to see tsatas, shiel and parish in the midfield, with merrett and Martin playing the Errol gulden role. Merrett isn't as strong a clearance player so could be very handy to get 3 very tidy and well spread age brackets through there
If he stays fit sure, but he played half the year in the VFL last season
Laverde to full forward
Done it before, wasn’t horrible
Zorko works down back because his disosal
Truth
Lets put all our average players in defence … except shiel he looked great in mid so leave him there , cox out , davey out , Wright maybe back then out if no good , Perkins reserves until he learns to work hard , need i go on
I’d love to see some big selection calls made when players are underperforming, it took far too long to drop Perkins
Jones to replace laverde. Cox up forward. Delist both the davey brothers
Jayden has been delisted, Alwyn contracted till next year
@@everythingessendon548 yeah, heard that. That's good and bad news
No way Peter wright stays in forward!!
Merrett at halfback just like daicos he's a uncontested player who is elite in his kicking and running and pressure perfect in the backline
Great idea mate, take your best midfielder out of the midfield. Will work awesome
Not the craziest idea...May free him up a bit.👍
This will happen once the midfield is set and we have genuine skilled users to hit targets forward. He can then finish his career back and play for longer.
I can see that happening in a few years, but I reckon we’ll keep him in the guts while our midfield grows
Cox forward would be hopeless. He was scoring from the wing when he lost his man. That won't happen as permanent fwd. He can't win any sort of contested ball ever.
We needed to trade him. He hasn’t got the body for the sport.
Definitely needs to lock down a role somewhere soon
Not sure if anyone heard Simon Madden's comments on Sen he made very good strong point of views on where the club is going wrong he also talked about how goal kicking is very important but yet the club is happy to lose 42 goals for the season by off loading Stringer for peanuts his comments made a whole lot of sense when he also talked about Essendon's 3 year plan when they have not read the room of what the club really needs maybe Simon Madden should be running the club because the ones in charge right now are a useless bunch of Tossers
I think the club made the right call offloading Stringer, prioritising culture over goals
@@everythingessendon548 We will see but right now Simon Madden’s comments are spot on the club keeps sending mixed messages on one hand they are telling the public and Zach Merrett one thing but doing the opposite this club just keeps repeating mistakes over and over again whether it’s list management to coaches or the board decisions it’s no wonder fans and supporters are turning their backs on this once beloved club. I too once used to be a member to now just watching them on TV to now just been 50% interested in what goes on down there. I believe the club does not know what it is doing anymore when you take a look at Hawthorn and look at what Sam Mitchell is trying to do Essendon do the opposite other teams are passing them by and sooner or later it will be with silverware. I can see more pain for this once mighty I can see another 5 years go by and we will still be having these talking points, I said the same thing in 2013 when the drug saga broke out, I told others this will hurt the club for 10+ years, and I was right at the time. Essendon will become the next St. Kilda or Richmond of old maybe they already are there but as each year goes by and the club keeps sending out mixed messages, we will one day maybe see Essendon hit 10,000 days without finals win and that will all be because the club did not know which right decisions to make at the time. As I said Simon Madden should be in charge of things he seems to know what he is talking about unlike the ones who are running the show right now. PS after 20 years without finals win, I have had it up to here, so I have now become a Tasmania Member GO the Devils.

agree with 99% of what you say but i wouldnt say shiel has had a similar career to zorkos 4 or 5 best and fairests haha
Yeah Zorko clears Shiel every day of the week
Cox and Perkins will be trade bait this time next year ,....let's not muck around here!!!!, ...got to stop carrying players that might be good, and get players that are good.
Really PEED OFF with cant coach Dud Scott. Our 4ward line has been Disfunctional 4 .... 2 yrs under Dud Scott.. as 4 pick 53 .. 4 Stringer was such a wastefull decision. Who else @ the Club can turn a Game & kick 42 goals 4us a season..
We will have another Garbage 🗑 Season again in 2025 😢😢😢😢😢 never wanted Scott @ the Club . 2 yrs of Disgracefull last 1/2 season. And the Fact that Merrett marched in2 Scott's office 🏬 regarding Stringer just shows us supporters the Dissatisfaction @ Dud Scott's decision on Stringer
I’d rather improve our culture than keep Stringer
@everythingessendon548
If u r referring 2 Stringer /Hinds massive BRAIN 🧠 FADE re hanging around The SCURGE OF THE EARTH 🌎 LOW LIFES , yes it's a massive problem 4 those 2 guys & one of the reasons why they were moved on ..... unfortunately we just don't have 42 goal a yr players other than Langford... Wright has Gone Missing.
Personally l would play him DEEP IN THE GOALS SQUARE ⬛️ & not allow him 2 lead more than 20 mtrs from there . Good Mark & Gr8 Kick .
Nick Martin out
This guy
im sorry i dont like Davey seems lost most of the time
Have goldy work with Wright and see if he can work as a ruck with some time forward/back. Jones FF, Caddy CHF. I may be crazy or on dodgy drugs, but I can see shiel be motivated to prove a few clubs wrong..He is an elite trainer, if he can get past his injuries he may be in for a standout year. Not sure he has the defensive mindset to play as a defender though.
Statistically 2MP was our most effective Ruck in 2024. He had a higher ‘to advantage’ % than any of the other players in that role.
He is more reliable than Cox when playing that role because he is less likely to be knocked off the ball.
Ideally we don’t see much of Goldy in 2025, would love more out of Bryan
Peter Wright struggled because we delivered the ball like crap all year.....our forward entries while plentiful were also atrocious.
pretty much just everyone to defence
The whole team to the backline
