- A tour of our little reservation town in Montana. Many stereotypes of what Native communities are about, hope I can dispel a lot of the misconceptions and show parts of our town that show the actual beauty. Yes we are not rich but we continue to work hard to improve what we have and build a better life for our families and community. God Bless!
In 1998, just before I turned 58 years old, a friend and I, both grandmothers, rode bicycles from Portland, Maine to Anacortes, Washington. 3600 miles. We spent the night in Cut Bank and were told not to linger in Browning. However, we felt perfectly safe and welcome. We stopped at the museum for a quick tour. We rode on and spent the next couple days in St. Mary. It looks like you've added a lot more public buildings since we were there, although we really didn't see much of the city. All the Native Americans we met across the country were extremely friendly.
This is where I was born. I'm proud to be Blackfeet. Thank you for sharing this video, I miss home!
Really enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing. What i saw is plain pretty. And clean. We love you and need you. Never give up as you say.
I'm french, I was in Browning in 2013, it's really a nice place, the pow wow was amazing, you always have a view on Glacier national Park, we spent 3 nights by Darrell Norman Lodgepole gallery, kind guy and a great artist, I hope I could come again in the future....God bless the Blackfoot nation.
Thank you, I hope you can visit again
@@cbearchief9793 good old Browning, some old dude got charged 30,000 for poaching a grizzly bear sow and two cubs in 2015 in Browning
It's very beautiful and the Blackfeet Nation are honoring their ancestors. ✌
Thanks for sharing your town .
Thanks I like that video so I can see the beautiful land even if I'm far away 🙏
I am of Blackfeet ancestry and so proud of it. ❤️ Thank you for sharing the reservation. I hope to share it with the rest of my extended family some day.

So come by next year and see how we train and fight.. God bless good by!!!
Dexio La Rin hi Dustin glad I found your yt sub to me and I’ll sub to you :) you know who I am!
I love coming up there it's so beautiful
I passed through there several years ago on the way to Glacier NP. The people were friendly, the scenery was stunning, and I was cold in August (which is foreign to me). Little towns with history and meaning like Browning really captivate me and I'd love to come back to learn about the culture. Thanks for the great video.
Hi Ryan thank you for your comment I hope you get to visit again
If they are interested in having tourists, I would love to visit and learn about Blackfeet culture! Thanks for sharing
Jonathan Shmulovich no you wouldn’t 😂
Oki! Thank you for this wonderful time.
A message to all those still fighting the war on drugs from the other side, please come home. ☮
My dad was born and raised there. He’s an elder with dementia. All he does is talk about how great it was when he was growing up. We’re going back next summer. If anyone knows Moreland Mccurtain please let me know
Thank you for showing your community. I will be volunteering there this summer. I can not wait.
Last time I was in Browning I stayed with Boogie...he is so hospitable.
I have always wanted to live on the reservation it like there is so much freedom I love it
Our house used to be where Taco John's is now we had a double-wide trailer with a shop in front at least used for a TV shop of beauty shop import export shop you name it that shop was it and people used to slide on our Hill right next to us forever and ever
was there for few days in 2006 met the chief by accident he had hit a bear with his car had smashed windshield awesome town glacial NP is wow
I see lots of new things in town.
I was there on the Johnson ranch 26 years ago.
Made a lot of friends , the heavyrunners , Mary many white horses and the silverplume boys among others and hope they are all OK.
Thanks for watching I’m glad you got to visit our homelands here in Montana!
This the absolute smartest move I've heard of in years.
Good going.
You have a Beautiful town, Far better than my town of Reno, NV. I Respect and Appreciate your openness, honesty, and willingness to "Show Off" the great place you live. I wish I lived there! Thank you... BTW, Liked & Subscribed!
I appreciate that
Blackfoot people are wonderful. I spent a lot of time in & around Browning. I worked for Blacks up in St. Mary's and had good friends in Babbs. My grandfather worked for Great Northern @ Pole Bridge and I hung out at Upper 2 Medicine & Kiowa Camp. Thank U for the memories....wayne
Thank you Wayne for watching and glad you made friends here hope you come back for a visit
That’s were my dad and grandpa grew up. And where my great grandma died, and great great grandma.
Very nicely presented!!
Nice video. I like shopping at Peebles when I' m in town.
Where you all drove through, like the dollar store, bank, IGA, subway etc. is it all Natived Owned??? Jw
I'm from North of you.... The Blackfoot Confederacy of Southern Alberta :) Liked your vlog BTW felt like I was driving around with you lol
I think my best friend SKYHAWK of Montana and then Bell Gardens, California lived here. SKYHAWK was an amazing athlete. He lived and worked in Switzerland for over 20 years. Bringing his Art, History of Blackfeet Tribe to Europe. RIP SKYHAWK. Richard Evans.
Always admired Indians!! And their ways !! Atleast the old ones!!❤
A really nice positive video - I used to pass through Browning on the train, but never spent time there so I am glad to have learned a bit about your community, and all the things you have going on there! Thanks!
Thank you! Once you get past the disparities that we often see first, there are some wonderful people here and they will welcome you and treat you like family we may not be rich financially but we are rich in so May other ways. Thanks for your comment ❤️
This is where my grandmother grew up
I was in Heart Butte, going into Browning like every other day, and I worked at East Glacier Park
Heart butte sucks
I miss the dollar stores we had when I was a kid only toys you could find in town 😂
I stayed in Browning many moons ago, in the 80's infact! I was only young with my family, we were on a mini tour of Montana, I think we where the first English to stay there for many years, some of town came to greet us at the motel, I remember a girl named Robyn who taken a shine to my sister! lol
I heard of Star School, Indian Days, Browning, then in Heart Butte, I was in Heart Butte, I love the place👍😊
Very nice video of a lovely community, it seems quite large, how many people live in Browning? Is it the largest Blackfoot Community?
Blessing to the tribes...
In the last week I have been able to find my biological siblings. My older siblings say that our birth mother was born on a reservation and that we are blackfeet. I don't even know how to go about finding information. From what we can gather at it all our mother was the only child. But my brother remembers hearing stories from our mother. There would be so nice to find out our heritage. It's a possible ability one of the main reasons I am so drawn into your native American culture
Come visit you never know you may find someone that has information
Native indian culture has always my interest beautiful people and avery rich culture fight always for your rights and passyour culture trough to your children montana marvellous state
Beautiful peopleand aussumculture
Ok this is a long shot but I'm am very interested in finding a native of this reservation that I meet in while I was incarcerated for just a couple weeks in Multnomah county justice center in Portland, Oregon. I believe his name was Richard, he was about 19 or 20 and from Browning, Montana. We were cell mates for about 10 days before was released. It was his first time and jail and he was pretty freaked out about being locked up. Anyway, He gave me his address and invited me to come visit the reservation but I lost his contact information. This all took place I believe in the early 90's like 93, 94..95...I also have a friend Richard Eaton who is BlackFeet Native, in fact I'm sitting at his place right now. So if anyone knows a native from this reservation that was in jail during this time in Portland, Oregon please get in touch...Thanks PEACE
Thanks for sharing ❤ Hello from Navajo Nation 👋👋
Both of my grandparents were from Browning my grandmother was a Billedeaux my grandfather was a paisley. His mother was a Goss and other family members are the Kipling
We stopped by Browning last week and wished we had a tour of the town.
Thank you for making this video. I'm part Blackfoot and I'm trying to learn about this part of my heritage. For some reason it wasn't talked about in my family and my mom was hesitant to tell me about it many years ago.
Blackfoot are in Canada, here in the U.S., Montana we are Blackfeet.
@@thickbrianq please correct me if I am wrong/ misinformed.
I learned my Blackfoot ancestors lived on both sides of the pre & present Canadian border, and labeled Blackfoot north & blackfeet south of the border. One people, divided by (tribe & nation) labels.
Your mom didn’t talk of it; it means pain.
Wish I could join the community, I am a descended of the blackfoot.
This must he where Dave Chappelle grew up he says he from the black feet tribe plus he has proof and i believe him 100%.
Beautiful...
Looks like a cool place. Look forward to visiting in the near future.
I loved the stories of James Schultz about life with the blackfeet before the buffalo massacres. Does the town name have anything to do with the guy that designed Winchesters?
Hey I looked it up. He was the commissioner of Indian affairs and my great grandmother worked for them.
Black Homies blackfeet represent👍🏾👍🏾🙏
I hear you brother, we are All 1 ❤
Thank you, nice tour
This is a wonderful video. I am researching my family we are of blackfeet descendants I need to find out who to contact to find or family history could you tell me
I would call the Blackfeet Community College they have an archive center at their library, they could possibly do a search for you

We read the news.
Wow who liquidated your town? Thanks for sharing your video 💯
I want to get drunk in Browning, Mt. On my bucket list.
😂
I was learning Lakota but no one wanted to speak their language with someone not Lakota.
I will learn the Blackfoot language if I have a speaking teacher and partner.
Then, I will come to visit.
Someone will teach you Blackfeet many non-natives learned to speak Blackfeet and lived amongst us and became a part of us and became family
I rfemember living on the blackfeet reservatrion with my wife in Heart Butte where she taucht at the immersion school and she would say to me, my boy you dont learn too good when I would try to get the language right. she compatred me with the schoolstudents an I reminded her I had other things to concentrate that the language like getting gas and finding work. good job on video cant inmagine all the changes in last 20 years. miss seeing the horses in town and powwow grounds. LaMarr
Shout out to the old war bonnet lodge, sesame street, IGA, and all the cool ass people I met there...Casper96'✌🏼 ( watch out for the goat man!!!)
I’ve lived on The Blackfeet Rez most of my life , would not live anywhere else.
Haven't been in Browning since the late '60's. Town looks much better now, I'm glad to say. But this video seemed to make it look like a ghost town. Nobody out and about and on the street. The population hasn't declined, has it?
I play foot ball and I'm a farmer inventor and creator
I am of the black foot Cherokee union . Of two my grand father's people on my mom side is black foot . On my dad side we have black foot and Cherokee. I have names and pic .how can I apply for my papers
I live in Browning
Why Blackfeet and not Blackfoot? Is it a correction in the name or is it recognize the group/plurality of the people and reservation? I didn't know about this so am asking now. Thank you.
It depends on the person or family. I was taught Blackfoot is in Canada and Blackfeet in Montana. I could be wrong, but I am Amskapi Piikani. My 3xGreat Grandfather is Moubtain Chief from Canada. His Granddaughter married a white man from Texas, and the Hall Family was Created!
Nice video. Wish you would show the native peaple that live their.
AWESOME 👍
Anybody know of a band of blackfeet in texas?
Is Town Pump still there?
Are you familiar with the Matthews Family? Y’know like the Matthews Family ranch? Just out side of Browning.
I knew Ramona
Yeah she was my great grandma.
Mom says her gpa is 100 black feet
Thank you so much for posting this video. I know a Blackfeet elder who is in desperate need for a home. How can I get him in touch with you ? Thank you !! Love the Blackfeet ❤🥰
Thank you for your comment, if the elder is looking for housing the best place to call is Blackfeet tribal offices 406-338-7521 or Blackfeet housing 406-338-5031. I no longer work for the elder programs. Thanks
I am called patchet
Did you get your township back?
No not yet😢
@@cbearchief9793 I will be praying to my Heavenly Father that you do.
I am the blood of the house of Sheba and Matilda lock hart
It's better than Gallup, NM
And where is, Ike's at?
🤣
I must be lonesome.
Can you live on the reservation if you are 1/8 blackfeet
Yes you can
Thank you for answering me. It meant so much. I've always felt out of place in South Carolina. I'm disabled and have chronic pain. My grandmother was full blackfeet, my mother half. Do you have to go thru blood test to prove your heritage?
😃✌️🤠😍🇧🇷
I love the Blackfeet nation but I stay away from browning I’ve assaulted and robbed too many times the res police don’t do anything and the gas station I was at the last incident happened at they told me to I couldn’t use their phone because I was white and shouldn’t be there I. The first place so messed up. That town is sketchy for real.
I’m one of the nice people here😂
I’m black foot and I’m just doing the worst
You will find your path, just take those moments to listen to creator. My prayers go with you!
My dad was born and raised there. He’s an elder with dementia. All he does is talk about how great it was when he was growing up. We’re going back next summer. If anyone knows Moreland Mccurtain please let me know
Very, very nice... Thank you so much...
I've been to Browning several times. Always go to the trading post to see what is new.

Nice video
I love your accent😁 thank you, but I been there.
I am in Great Falls, MT right now. I have been asked to visit in the past. From the radio I understand the Blackfoot Reservation is closed. My grandmother was Blackfoot. I had really hoped to visit.
For sure come and visit. You will probably find your relatives here. The rez is open. Come and enjoy the Blackfeet country!
@@cbearchief9793 I am looking up any records I can and wondering if you have a register or list of families. I am looking at the name Leduc and Boulay. I have names of sisters and brothers but I do not have complete records. Some may just not be recorded. My grandmother is the family member. I have found female relatives by their married names but not the males. Can you direct me anywhere to help?
