Welcome to Singapore. You have missed out the biggest hawker centre in Singapore at the Chinatown Complex second level. One of the popular local hawker centres in Singapore amongst locals. Lau Pat Sat is more touristy. That egg tart isn't considered traditional.

The Fullerton was during the British Colonial times(pre 1963), known as the General Post Office. The building was the only main mail sorting and mail distribution center. Also the place provide normal business of a normal post office and was the office of The Postmaster General. Parcels for shipping are also processed here.
