Awesome track! But be warned, once you start using odd time signatures, you don't stop, haha. I intended for just one track on my EP to be in an odd time signature, and ended up using 10/4, 5/4, 7/4, 6/4, 13/8, 15/8, and some other ones I don't remember. It's just too much fun to work with!
+MusicIsMy Oxygen I've done some 15/8 stuff and it's not *that* weird. I mean, it depends on how weird you want to make it. If you do, for example, an underlying 7/8 + 8/8 rhythm, it sounds pretty natural. I also experimented with 15/16 and had a ton of fun. It's like a 7/8 but you have a bit more space to relax between measures!

Divided by 3, triplets, 5, quintuplets, 7, septuplets, etc... A 9tuplet is a bit faster than 8th notes, so there's a difference. Irrational Time Signatures are really just a short hand for a metric modulation(changing the tempo to match a tuplet basically), as it's explained in the Adam Neely video. There the guy he is interviewing uses multiple x/12 time signatures throughout his song instead of multiple metric modulations.
My dad dragged me some piano concert and the guy played a piece that had two different tempos for the right and left hand. It was interesting to say the least.

Just saw this video and realized what you played the first time on the launch pad is a song I’ve had in my Spotify playlist since before summer, I now have a deep appreciation for this song
I tried tapping out some drum set rhythms over this and it's way easier than I expected. It's a surprisingly intuitive time signature: it's basically 9/8+2/8, and 9/8 is pretty easy (compound version of 3/4). At least at this tempo (guessing somewhere around dotted quarter = 60), I found it pretty easy and fun to improvise a kind of blues-ish feel with it, like if Meshuggah played blues or something.
Wish I got to see more of the planning, and the difficulty coming up with something that fit, rather than skipping right to recording the finished idea. Especially for challenges like this.
