Thanks for posting this race, I watched the whole thing, start to finish. A lot of things to miss about the Syracuse Mile, the biggest is the unpredictability of who would win. Thanks to Diamond P sports, great job.
Oh man I remember hearing this tune every weekend when I was younger. Sitting at home with my brother, mom and late father. It was either World of Outlaws, drag racing, swamp buggies or something else. Steve Evans, Brock Yates............this just made my night!
the days of dirt racing that was what many will say were the best! I enjoy seeing this sort of history still going and alive and hearing all the crazy Syracuse stories from tons of guys to drivers, campers, car helpers, everyone. wish I coulda been alive to be able to grow up in the late 80's and 90's of NY state Dirt Racing!
what a race for the buck eyed bullet and his daddy lou awesome race the flagman paul watkins great job in this race r.i.p. to 3 men steve evans, brock yates, and the buck eyed bullet s daddy lou y all
What an impressive way to wipe out the leader, DJ. Way to go! Now instead of 2nd you got last and denied Cozze of a well deserved win. Great race, terrible finish.
You don't see it because everything has quadrupled in price. Getting wrecked can put you out for awhile and sponsors get pissed their name isn't out there.
@@T1C45 Like Frankie Schneider said racing was finished in the 60's today big money no race anymore. He always said you BS the people they love it you tell them the truth they do not want to hear it.I use to hang out with him in his garage I miss him.
I had the opportunity to attend this event. It was my first time at Syracuse. I liked the fact that the fans sat fairly close to the cars. My only criticism would be the width of the track. They should have doubled the width of the track. You would have easily seen three abreast racing. It was really chilly that day, which I am certain cut down on tire wear. For a daytime show, it was pretty good.👍🏻
Gov Cuomo is getting his just desserts for destroying this fantastic, very unique, very beloved race track!! People, do U realize that the first car race on this horse track happened in the early years of auto- mobiles? About 1902 or 1905!! Look it up!Hope he gets impeached, legal sexual convictions, does federal prison time. He clearly listened to the rubber cycling pant, gay, environmentalist crowd: Destroy the NYS FAIRGROUND TRACK & grandstand, replace it with an amphitheatre ( which could have been put any where) & U will prevent the yearly production of tons of Greenhouse gases!! In the years 1979 to 1983 when I could afford to attend Super Dirt Week , each year Gov Mario Cuomo called the track live, giving his sincere best wishes to all the race teams, graciously thanked all the race fans & race teams for attending & participating in SUPER DIRT WEEK making it one of the largest, most important, popular, rich annual events in NY STATE. Now we have to live with the actions of his bonehead son!! Most of my best, happiest times in life were designing, building, setting up, tuning, racing big & small block modifieds, & crewing on a friend's 360 Gambler Sprint car, 1980 to 1992.Merritville, Ransomville & Humberstone Speedways I considered my home tracks . 1980 our team was the last Canadian race team to regularly race at Weedsport & the specials at Rolling Wheels with our driver being co- worker, friend, former Weedsport Modified track Champ, sadly now deceased, Harry Sittler. Ya now and again, Davey Moore, Pete Bicknell, Brian Stevens crewed by his legendary dad Ray Stevens & uncle Neville. Too many have passed away already!! Including friends who were ardent fans. I live in SW St. Catharines close enough to clearly hear Merritville Speedway, but am disabled & can't afford any luxuries, not even all my foodstuffs. I am Marty Roseman.

35 years later and DJ is still pulling his shenanigans. The guy has taken more guys out than covid 19.
Dan is the man!

I almost cried for the 44 when he was dumped by an inpatient Johnson. What a gift that truck and trailer would have been for that man and his team. ☹️
Wasn't dumped. Frank pinched him.

"Danny's been known for that stuff". Yep
American Sports Cavalcade's 1st episode of 1990, even though the race was from 1989
A young Doug Hoffman just fantastic
Class drivers at the end , no yelling or screaming , both knew it was just racing , and went onto next week . You don't see that much anymore .

Can anyone tell me what lap Johnson passed Blaney?
Frank Cozze got one ☝️ finally

Agree with you, the track was quite narrow down the backstretch, but it was that way because of the inner, cinder, horse racing track
Yep I was there!
Can't take anything away from the doctors accomplishments but aggressive for sure. How long has has him & Hearn had issues..
Not how you pronounce Frank's name.
very cool thank u
Can anyone give specifics about when Alan Johnson passed Dave Blaney in this race?
So Danny Johnson bones another driver from a win!
Johnson this, Johnson that. The announcers didn't show Frank any respect. Couldn't even pronounce his name correctly!!
are you referring to "Cozzi" ..
@@Sean-wj1wu yep, we all know it's pronounced "Cozy"
Thinking the same. You would think that they could pronounce his name right?
I was rooting for Frank in the Kneisel chassis built by Eric Koster
Pretty impressive.
Cozze was awesome until DJ punted him. 🙄
wow paul page at syracuse!
This would actually be 1990
redracer1985 This is 1989. Alan Johnston won. Brett Hearn won in 1990.
@@GreytThorold gotcha, thanks
