Oh man, Steve Little's story was tragic. Poor guy must have bedn so distracted with grief he didn't see where he was driving that day. Did a brief homework on him, he's the only punter to go in the 1st round. He kicked a 67 yard FG when he played for Arkansas. Dude deserved his own video, Adam.
Sean Landeta had a hell of a career, outside that punt. He ended up being the last USFL player to play in the NFL, retiring in 2005. Oh and a Towson State grad. And was on the Giants all time team, the Eagles all time team and ESPN's 1980's and 1990's All Decade Team, and this year named to the Giants 100th anniversary team.
@@RickinBaltimore my favorite punter of that era was tom tupa, if only because he was a parcells ringer Pro tip: if you're playing franchise in Madden from the 90s/00s you can probably just replace your starting quarterback with Tom Tupa, save yourself a bunch of money and do better in simulation (he has like 84-85 throw power/accuracy) 😂 plus he can still be your punter
In a single game in 2005, Giants kicker Jay Feely missed three potential game-winning field goals. One as time expired in regulation, and two more in overtime. If that isn't a record, then we have a serious problem.
Moseley won the MVP in 1982 and some straight on kickers were actually good. I was one in HS and went perfect on field goals and extra points, rarely had any FG attempts but I cant see how you can miss on XPs as a Straight On Kicker.
That's because of the kickers changing their kicking methods. At some point they decided to kick the ball with the same technique as in the sport where the whole purpose is to kick the ball.
@@ViktorTheButcher That's why Pete Gogolak is an underrated person in pro football history. As the first soccer-style kicker, he showed that his technique was more accurate and had more power. All the rule changes to the kicking game are because of a Hungarian refugee from an Ivy League school.

I've seen a negative yard punt in D2 football (SVSU v Mercyhurst in...I think 07?) Winds were 30+ in the face and he hit a sky kick...that floated back.
I saw a high school kid hit himself in the face with a punted ball during a game one Friday night. At that point you might as well just go for it even if it's 4th-and-99.
Had to deal with a pervert on my train the same time you posted a video. As always, thx for the distraction. Now, here’s a kicker: no matter who sucks at kicking, we always can rely on time management…just like that Matt guy from Chicago.
Not having Zane Gonzalez on here as at least an honorable mention is criminal. He cost the Cardinals a playoff spot in 2020 when he missed 2 game-winning field goals in 2 separate games.
Man, it’s crazy to think THAT Sean Landeta has the shortest punt of all-time…this was a guy who had a 21-year NFL career and was a two-time All-Pro. Just goes to show that even the greats have their really bad days and in Landeta’s case, he just so happened to have the worst shank of his career at the absolute worst time.
3:43 - I think he meant to say the AFL-NFL merger earlier, but uses the term soon after here. Maybe he got mistaken between the "Super Bowl era" (1966), and "the Merger" (1970). It's an awkward four year gap that's not worth the trouble of splitting hairs.
@@HiHello-Opd Well, there’s always that confusion about how “the Year X season” finishes in Year X+1. The first Super Bowl game was held in January 1967, but it was the game that concluded the 1966 NFL season.
Missing 3 XP in a game is bad now. Missing 3 XP in a game between 1974 and 2015 is pretty awful, those are chip shots, a 20-yard FG. Missing 3 XP before 1974? I'm pretty sure I, at age 47 as I type this comment, could kick an extra point under those old rules-the goalposts were right on the goal line back then, so an XP only had to travel 9 yards in the air and not veer off like a hurricane hooking off to Ireland when it looked like it was going to be a bad day for claims adjusters in Miami.
6 missed field goals in a game? was the coach at least fired as well, cus after like maybe the 5th time, put the punter out there, whats the worse that could happen, he misses 5 times in a row lol

Back in the 70's field goal kickers missed a lot. Sure seemed that way compared to today's kickers.

Biggest Rivalries in football
(Divisional games excluded)
Chiefs vs Bills
Most unlikable nfc team: 49ers vs Cowboys vs Eagles
Kickers vs Father Times

Great video, the editor moment is tragic.
Three minutes only 172 views😂 doing great man I love the vids
Yes the irony was not lost to us Broncos fan when so many of our early kickers were so bad on the rarefied air of Denver.
Scott Norwood missed 5 in a game against the L.A. Raiders. But his 6th try was good in OT to win the game.
When i First Saw The Thumbnail, I thought it was Ryan Tannehill on the Thumbnail

yea

I still remeber that Maher game like it was yesterday, shit was hilarious.
Joe Theismann's 1 yard punt is up there for the worst ever, and funny enough, it was also against the Bears.
I remember Harry Newsome, he had a big leg but was a three step punter.
Poor Justin Tucker went from Hall of Fame kicker to being washed.
Keep up the great work, your hard work will be rewarded 🙏
thanks, i'm sticking to it
I just wanna point out how much better the apartment looks with the sectional. You need a fake house plant though dawg.
I think if you're getting more than one blocked punt per year over ten years, you might just be doing something wrong.

Can you define, “Super Bowl era?” Don’t bother. It’s a rhetorical question that you can’t possibly answer.
As a Steelers fan, I am thankful for Chris Boswell.
Us ravens fans used to say that.

Worst kicker/punter is still that guy that played soccer and wound up on the Jets… he ran for his life when the defense charged at him! 😂
