I feel like Kanye always takes mad risks and makes bold choices on his albums, where Drake always plays it safe. I always appreciate it when artists show confidence and boldness.
@@demandcollect the direction is being a better you and trying to do right by god (im not to religious) and showing kanyes true self talking about relationships, street struggles, and overcoming great obstacles but the message is there you may just not care enough to see it
THIS! The intro and second track is fucking flawless with production but I said “Drake not doing much but it’s the beginning, I’m sure he’ll improve.” Then i fell asleep after track 5 played
@@Papabandana Yeah, like the sample on the intro is from Michelle, one of my favorite Beatles songs and really songs in general, the chop is immaculate, but there’s just nothing that grabs me as much as I’d like it to. I think I’ve just heard the sample-based Drake confessional track too many times because he doesn’t have much new to say.
It was delayed 9 months so I was expecting an absolutely crazy album just for it to be incredibly underwhelming. Saved like 8 songs out of the 20 and I’ll still prolly end up skipping a lot of em when they come up on shuffle.
by any means this is not a bad album, but i‘m still confused as to how he had such an insanely intense and long rollout for such an easily forgettable and mediocre album. like how was he in the studio listening to himself and saying „yes this is THE certified lover boy everyone’s been waiting for“
This is exactly it! You hit the nail on the head, it wasn’t bad just forgettable. And I’m genuinely shocked that not a single song stood out except maybe fair trade.
Drake should have dropped first. Kanye dropped too much of a dynamic album to follow. Drake is still talking about the same thing. Women we don’t know that play games… the apartments they live in and how everyone in the game is a opp… there ain’t much more insight we can get on Drakes life or career at this point.
Insight about his life or career? That is his life. In both freestyles he dropped, When to say when and Chicago Fresstyle, he talked about arriving at his son’s school for parent teacher conferences. Look, I get some of what these comments are talking about but a lot of people are reaching, searching for sumn they can’t even put into words. Evolution as an artist doesn’t mean changing the conversation.
@@davidamrovhe779 I can see where you're getting at here. I don't want to be misunderstood as if I'm wanting to be completely immersed in Drakes life lol. I'm speaking from an artist/consumer standpoint. I barely listen to Drake's recent material because he copies everything that surfaces at this point. Both Kanye and Drake had the same features. Why does Drake's project sound like what we've been listening to for the past 2-3 years now? It's not about his life... it's about how it's translated within a body of instruments. There's no way we really expected Drake's album to compete if he didn't come different... What's different? lol Playing both sides of the fence Drake does have hits... He at has like 4-5 every project up to Scoprion. Plus these albums have two different audiences kinda. We've been listening to continuations of projects. In my opinion this project lacks evolution and shock value. We knew the contents of the album before it even dropped. Donda had an actual story to tell with sounds, mixes, and content we haven't heard before. Not only that... but Donda sounds like nothing we've heard from Kanye.
This is a Drake album and that is a compliment and a criticism. He refuses to leave his comfort zone. He will never make a "bad" album but that is my problem with Drake. There is zero risk. I'll give it a few more spins but I can't see myself going back to this after that.
@@xXStIcKiNgXx look at Kanye, most people would agree that he has at least one bad album with jik, but he’s taken so many risks and had so many paid off with way more certified classics than any other rapper in the game, let alone drake. Every album is a different sound he’s experimenting with and it pays off.
@@juancena8329 the thing is…drake doesn’t need to “take a risk” or whatever to prove himself. The one of the greatest already. Like the original comment said, “he will never make a bad album” like that’s a bad thing. Yebba’s Heartbreak is the song you play in a movie where the main character gets shot at the end and he’s just dying slowly while they show flashbacks of his life.
Yoooo I think about this all the time because I like writing screenplays for fun. I always base situations on songs I like and could sound good in there. this is one I always think about. What song plays when that main character dies and the flashbacks come through. I always liked franks moon river as my “sad/dying” song. Just had one of those weird moments where you’re thinking something then you see it on tv or somethin right after and your comment was that😭
that’s what a lot of people been wanting for a long time , Drake spitting over hard rap beats on an album. He’ll never do it cuz he wants his melodic shit in there all the time.
@@Hypno_BPM that's the only thing that keeps me coming back each album release, the potential, im hoping he gives us at least one "hungry Drake" mostly rap project before all said and done
@@Hypno_BPM It's because Drake is trying to appeal to the radio and tiktok crowd. He's trying to go for earworm melodies and failing miserably at it. It's a shame that he chooses popularity over actual good quality rap or just good quality music in general. I wouldn't complain if the melodies were actually good.
Since Drizzy takes inspiration from The Beatles, he should do what they did and go to a 3rd world country, so he can go on a psychedelic retreat in the mountains somewhere and find new material from that just like The Beatles did. It’d help his growth as an artist.
100% kanye always trying some different shit with his sounds and i can always appreciate it. feel like ive already heard every song on this drake project.
Not even an insult to Drake but honestly it’s the most mid of all mids, and if I’m being honest I actually hate that more. Even a bad album will be remembered but this just seems forgettable
Its kinda painful to admit to this as a Drake fan. I really expected better. Really thought that 9 month postponement would make it so much better than what it is. Second half it really felt like it was a chore to listen to it.
After reeling in my expectations, I can appreciate it for what it is a bit more, which is another Drake album, in the same way Culture 3 was another Migos album. I don’t think it’s a stand out in his discography, but it’s listenable and it’s distinctly his sound. I guess what I was hoping for was some more maturity (idk why lol). Thematically he stays in a very boyish place and sonically it’s very on brand. In the first half, outside of the intro, he steps back and big brothers most of the features, which comes off as lazy rather than grandiose here. I also feel like the high energy songs fall flat, although I appreciate a break from his subtle, monotonous delivery. Don’t get me wrong, he can sound completely unenthused and still kill it, but both the vocals and the wavy instrumentals had me waiting for something to heat up. When he’s up to plate in the latter half, there might not be any home runs (just my opinion), but he hits the ball and the points add up. Definitely more variety on this end of the project, and less diminishing returns by the end of each song. I enjoyed most of these tracks. He sits all the way back for Yebba which pays off, and there are a couple decent lyrical showcases after that. I think the closer ties off an album nicely, but it feels out of place. It doesn’t feel like the proper ending of THIS album. My mistake was coming into it expecting the celebration of a decade at the top, but the title and the cover art give away everything and nothing. This is a culmination of his experience as an artist, not a victory lap. He knows how he is perceived and plays it up while making sure to reinforcing his status. There’s a lot to attribute to his prior endeavors, but he’s not taking it too seriously. If you don’t take it too seriously either, you’ll have fun. Still, he’s gonna be all over the air waves and I’m sure my Sherlock analysis will have turned to Stockholm’s by then. Edit: when I say mature I’m referring to both a more refined sound and tackling similar themes in a different light or like a retrospective, and this album does neither. Also the marketing had me thinking it would be a stronger, more cohesive body of work. I appreciate the feedback.
I feel like this album proved that Drake didn't grow as an artist at all since Views. Same production style, repetitive features, some song slaps, but some are just 'meh.' It's just funny how I enjoyed DLDT more than CLB (and the fact that he delayed it too to improve it.) I miss IYRTITL Drake, man.
@@seanpardy8128 I feel like he's too comfortable in his comfort zone. He needs to try different pattern in terms of creating an album. This is too underwhelming for me for an artist like Drizzy.
He’s playing it safe because he knows he has a winning formula where he can keep breaking records with marketing and features. The production is top notch but besides that it was underwhelming. It’s not bad by any means just not what I expected since it was 9 months late.
I’ve enjoyed Drakes music for many years, but dropping an album as generic as this off the back of Kanye releasing an album as experimental and conceptually intriguing as Donda is a huge mistake.
If yall liked the Intro, I'd check out Navajo by Masego. He was the one who actually brought that immaculate sample that ewe mafe by hie friend to lifeee and he blessed it with his own voice and the sax on a song he made a few years back 🙌🏿 Show some love to the OG 😤🙏🏿
In retrospect I feel like Scorpion was much stronger than people gave it credit for. Side B is some of the best r&b/pop of Drake's career, imo. Summer Games, Jaded, Nice for What, In My Feelings, After Dark, etc...
Definitely people have to understand that Drake sounds better after the 2nd listen. People give it one quick listen than Shut it out. They ask for consistent R&B drake but don’t really want that. Drake already gave them that
@@roll2ones no , he didnt say thaf , he said that scorpion is underrated , but CLB still better , and you ll see after it grows on you in a few months Views took people YEARS to appreciate it

Drake is the definition of the "Capitalism breeds innovation" meme. Drake has gotten used to coasting on his albums because he knows his diehard fans are uncritical of him and will lap it up and fill his bank account with dollars, regardless of how similar the tracks are. He is the iPhone of rappers.
The fact you classify him as a “rapper” is inevitably ignorant, his versatility is un heard of and the fact that even when he receives awards he makes it known he’s never satisfied, he’s an artist that will be remembered long after you or anyone else hating will be, I’m speaking centennials
This another typical drake album, Just good enough to get plays and be a crowd pleaser. You can never go wrong putting on some drake, but you can easily find something better.
Exactly a few great songs here and there but overall feels like a pretty average 6/10 album that hasn't blown me away with a lot of generic decent songs similar to scorpion imo
@@adamgriffiths8639 Few songs here and there? There are 10+ songs that slap on the 21 track album. More than half of the album has replay value, that’s more than “a few songs here or there.”
I feel like Drake accomplished his goal with this one. It’s so inoffensive and has just enough variety between different tracks that it’s just kinda something you can put on and play anywhere. It’s not the best artistically, but it’ll fs do some crazy numbers.
@@rodkneehitstp5449 I wouldn’t say 34 is “almost” 40… I mean for a music career you can damn well have 2 more albums/projects before reaching 40. Trynna make him out as an old and out of his prime artist

I always says this. His whole discography up until that mixtape was flawless. After that. He just fell off tbh. I still love his music. But I can’t keep lying to myself.
Yea I found the album good but not at normal drake tier but if you’ve listen to music lately it seems like everybody is running out of ideas. Music is boring now. The only I people I can think of that didn’t was j cole and Kendrick and that’s because they take like 3-4 years each album
I feel like a lot of mainstream artist haven’t fully grasped the new blueprint for albums. They just drop songs in there. Some artist have full themes and shit but some artist just have too many audiences to please.
an album having a theme isn’t something new bruh, i’d personally rather have an album have a theme than just a playlist of random songs together. that way, it kind of sticks to that moment in time for me.
Fun fact about the first track. That beat is actually taken straight from Navajo by Masego. Until it changes in the next verse. So it’s like a double sample. If that makes sense
Listening to this album was like watching Woodley fight paul. You know what Drake is capable of but rather than giving tracks his all, he sits back, throws a few good hits here and there and does the bare minimum to get by.
yeah for me it even felt like Tyson v Roy Jones, GOAT boxers but you can tell they were holding back they're true power so they didn't KO each other into the grave early.
Drake should have made this an EP and kept the 6/7 songs that are decent on it and binned the rest. Feel like CLB had no real concept here on a 21 song album an EP would’ve been perfect and could pick 6/7 that fit the concept better. Drake could still sell 500k for an EP lol
Not every album needs to have a concept for it to justify its run time. This album, while nothing groundbreaking from drake, kept a good consistent run of quality songs and had no real lazy attempts at trying to make a billboard 100 hit. Overall it was an enjoyable and quality album to listen to and I don’t understand why people are crying about it not being experimental or conceptual, it’s literally Drake
I actually think all 21 songs were good. It’s like every drake era in 1 album and every song sounds good. Yeah there were a few corny bars but I enjoyed it all in all
I feel like this album suffers from OVER marketing, and i'll say it, since its coming of the heels of its release and bc of their beef CLB will undoubtedly be compared to DONDA. And while I love some songs off this album (TSU, Fair Trade, No Friends in the Industry) none really hit the highs of songs like Hurricane, Moon, or even Off the Grid. It's possible listening to this album at 1:20 am might've affected my initial thoughts but after the first listen im giving CLB a 6/10 (for comparison I gave DONDA a 8.5/10) P.S I also kinda liked scorpion more than CLB so maybe im just wack.
I agree 100 percent. CLB is plagued with and will always be compared to Donda until the earth stops spinning. And I agree with you that I enjoyed Scorpion more than CLB even if I didn’t even like that album.
One of the things I noticed is that although the artistic direction intended in both Donda and CLB is very surface level, Kanye does a great job of making every song sound relatively different while still bringing you back to that same direction, whereas with CLB it’s so all-over the place and random that I often forgot what the point of the album even was. Also, Kanye let the features shine without letting them carry; Drake honestly needed every single feature he got on this, and it’s no coincidence that all of the good songs on it have features that outshined him. The artistic range on Donda is also far better, but that’s to be expected because I think we all know Kanye could make a CLB, but Drake could never make a Donda. (Not sure how y’all aren’t getting the ‘surface level thing’. I’m not saying Donda was surface level as an album, I’m saying that Kanye made it very apparent what it would be about; and despite this, he still managed to make every track have a new feeling to it, while still maintaining that same artistic direction. I promise your 12 year old ‘I’ve been listening to music consistently for 2 years’ opinion means nothing to me.)
this comment needs to be ping right on top to remember these bandwagon drake fans that is not becuse they like 7-8 song on CLB that the album is better than DONDA , i like both but lets be honnest, just the fact that kanye produce his whole album makes it 19321784 time better and there is no debate here .
Is the artist direction on Donda really surface level though? I think going the gospel rap route is pretty bold and the lyrical content is actually some of the deepest Kanye’s ever had if you actually listen to it.
Donda is not surface level lol we haven’t had enough time with the album to truly dissect it but I can already tell there’s a lot there and it’s clear the album tells a cohesive story, as most of Kanye’s albums do.
@@MrOranorange I know I’m saying that the direction he was going in is surface level, as in he let us know what it would be about and yet still made it sound refreshing with every new track
The best way I can describe this album is - this album is good background music that doesn’t require much brain power. Album sounded boring when I was listening to it at 3am alone. Album sounded great on my way to work knowing a three day weekend is coming up. Album sounded better after linking with a few friends and just throwing it on in the background. This album is not game changing. It’s not innovative. But it’s that new Drizzy. We already knew what to expect. He’s the 2K of rap - same game, new rosters.
This is why Drake won't progress. People hype up his stuff even when it's mediocre. He has no incentive to grow artistically. If Big Sean put out this same album he'd have mad 🗑 emojis online.
I was subjected to it on a Lyft ride last night, and was DYING to get out of the car...just really lazy and boring...other than the features, all the drake bars could've been in any one of the songs without it being noticable...very generic
Most songs sound similar but I guess that’s a normality for drake albums. Donda is better for me, Kanye mixes his great production with great features and solid content.
@@matt-xk2wc bro don’t act like half the rap base ain’t comparing the two either. holy shit. competition is great for any industry and i’m a fan of both.
this was typical drake. if you took every song made by drake in the past, idk 8 years and played it for someone who has never heard him they would have thought it was from the same time. this dude doesnt evolve.
I find it ironic how drake dissed Kanye on 7AM saying that he’s fallen from grace and he’s way past his peak when drake himself is already way pass his peak like since 2016 while Kanye still value art, continue to take risk, continue to reinvent himself and be boundary pushing
The shots at ye are actually ruining these tracks for me at this point. He’s been sending subliminals for 3 years now because he can’t cope with the Story of Adidon. I think this album makes it clear that Drake’s ego is just as big as Kanye’s and the both of them are equally insecure and it’s annoying af to have to constantly listen to.
Yeah but his reinvention was trash. JIK, Ye, and Donda are all mid. His reinvention was trash 🗑, lmao. And I dare to say KSG was only good because of Cudi’s influence on the album.
@@Relikia25 graduation was a reinvention, 808s was a reinvention, yeezus was a reinvention, even MBDTF was a reinvention of his sound honestly. You can’t say that KSG was only good because of Cudi after he’d been dropping dud albums for years man.
Drake is a fine example of a POP star. When one track blows up, the artist will only follow with a similar sound to keep some of that base. Every song on the pop station on radio sounds the same. Can say the same about drakes albums for same reasons.
Bruh ngl I disagree heavily about this, as much as people like to hate on drake, this not the reason why. It jus sounds like a good reason so people like it. Not even a “Drake Head” but bro has hella sounds
This is an absurd take. Explain how know yourself, hotline bling, gods plan, back 2 back or one dance sound similar to one another. Guy has maybe a couple singles with trappy or afro caribbean rhythms that overlap
Everything on this project sounds the same to y’all ? I got that from Trippie’s album last week lol but I didn’t cut on CLB and think the same but I guess we have different ears.
He has hella sounds but like most of the songs on this album just sound like reused flows, lyrics and content matter. I love it when Drake does something afrobeat or uk because that stuff goes hard af, but he’s just recyling shit at this point . At least 10 of the songs off this album were forgettable and the same shit tbh
In all honesty at this point I think Drake has like 5000 songs pre recorded and just records like two or three new songs every album. Very talented but after the first three albums it feels like he’s phoning it in for the most part. Not hate just IMO 😎
I remember walking through ODU’s campus and seeing Masego playing his saxophone on the quad lawn. A decade later he’s featured on the #1 song in the world with one of the greatest artists ever.. talk about turning a dream into a reality! 🔥
CLB is really a "relative album", I mean you feel it better when you're just trying to enjoy music and feel yourself I promise you'll connect with at least one of the songs. I found that out recently also!
Idk man it seems like u guys jus tryna dig up random stuff for why everyone thinks the album is Garbo. Can’t rlly connect to drake man he’s immature and a child groomer.
@@caasieu I would hardly disagree. I don’t think he’s made a good album since iyrtitl but to each their own. Drake has abused the same sound and hasn’t changed as an artist for the last 10 years so even the songs that you’d think would be good(champagne poetry and 7am on bridle path) come across as extremely stale and boring cuz it’s like I’ve heard the exact song before.
"drake's pen game is fire when he wants it to be" "I'm gonna see a side of drake I've never seen before" *2 songs later* "say you a lesbian, girl, me too"
Bruh, like so many of Drake's lyrics are just pure cringe. Although none (for me at least) will ever top "Shout out to Asian girls, let the lights dim some"
This whole thing was like a Mike Tyson knockout punch. Half way through it'll put you to sleep. I was dozing off. Sounds like elevator music so uninspiring and a big ego trip by Drake. Talking about who is sleeping with who how much money he got and what girl left him at the club we heard those same bars before it is just boring hearing it again. We need lyrics that are talking about more interesting topics. His ghostwriter must have been in a coma. This is like his drunk sad story all in his feelings. Ughhhh who cares. Spiritually this is a low frequency and bad vibe.
What's sad is Drake has a lot of damn potentional and that's what's so frustrating. He can make so much more and it's such a waste of OVO40s talent. He's not gonna be around for much longer and once OVO is gone idk how he'll do.
@@ricetoss18 im sorry but drake albums can’t match kendrick albums’ quality. Even. before he started using the same formula, he wasn’t matching gkmc and tpab with take care and nwts. He’s no doubt the mainstream goat of the decade but the quality difference is quite significant between them
This album is at least a C to C- at best. Even though I listened to it twice I found some of the features better than Drake's verses at times. It's safe to say that Drake has been comfortable with music for a while and this album shows that.
I honestly wanna see Kanye make a Drake album as some sort of non official release just to kill the GOAT conversation. It might even push Drake to actually step out of his comfort zone and try something ambitious, which is what people have been begging for since Views.
Most people hate this album because it’s too Rnb. That’s what it should be. It’s called Certified Lover Boy for a reason. However, i think the tracklist needs adjusting, so here’s how i would make CLB a great album cover art - The CLB logo he was promoting 1. Champagne Poetry: Classic intro. No discussion 2. Papi’s Home: This song isn’t great but it fits the theme of the album and sets the tone well. 3. Wants and Needs (feat. Lil Baby): Cut Girls Want Girls and get the other Lil Baby song 4. Laugh Now Cry Later (feat. Lil Durk): Cut In The Bible and get the other Lil Durk song. Also this was supposed to be the lead single for CLB. 5. Love All (with JAY-Z): The ready to die part fits well after the two singles, and is a decent enough song to keep on 6. Get Along Better (feat. Ty Dolla : Perfect song for the theme, and a classic song. One of his best IMO. 7. Pipe Down: Flows well after Love All, and is a great song 8. Yebba’s Heartbreak (feat. Yebba): Tranistions after Pipe Down. Also great interlude 9. Chicago Freestyle (feat. Giveon): In this world DLDT is like a 6 song EP: This song fits in well with the album and is good. 10. Not You Too (feat. Chris Brown): Amazing song, and fits the theme again 11. Fair Trade (with Travis Scott): Not a love song but you can’t leave it off here. Classic track. 12. TSU: I feel like Fair Trade does a good transition into this song, it fits theme, and is good 13. N 2 Deep (with Future): Transitions from TSU, and a classic 14. Way 2 Sexy (with Future & Young Thug): I know this song sucks but it kind of fits the theme and it was the big single on this album. 15. No Friends In The Industry: The only reason this track is on here is because it talks about Kanye/Kendrick which was a big storyline around this albums release. 16. 7am on Bridle Path: see above 17. Race My Mind: Transitions from 7am, and fits the theme perfectly, the last part of this song is like the climax of the album 18. F*****g Fans: Ik people HATE this song. I don’t get it. One of the best on the album, flows well after RMM, and fits the theme perfectly. Also good closer to the love themed songs 19. The Remorse: Great closer for the album, all of his projects have ended on full rap songs. 20. [hidden track] You Only Live Twice (with Lil Wayne & Rick Ross): This is a hidden track because I couldn’t find a good spot for it on the tracklist, but it works well as a hidden/bonus track, and is a great actual closer to the album. Basically like The Motto Part 2. 21?. Toosie Slide: If you want to this song a bonus track like Hotline Bling on Views. Put it between Remorse and YOLT Knife Talk got cut because it doesn’t fit the theme of the album. At all. Put it on SM2. Same thing with Fountains. IMY2 got cut because it’s not memorable enough + can’t find spot on tracklist A deluxe for this album can easily be made. I feel like this album goes up as one of Drakes best. So many classics.
Donda is on different type of wavelength tbh CLB not Comin close to it. not tryna pin them against each other it’s obvious both Ye and drake can co exist but it’s really hard to compare them when drake is bringing the same drake formula to his recent albums. I don’t think this album will stand the test of time compared to his last albums, still liked some songs tho don’t get me wrong, it’s just not him tho it lacks substance to me but just my thoughts
The closing track was kinda nice and I was thinking “wait was that album actually kinda good?” And then I remembered everything else and thought “yeah… not really”.
I feel like this album encapsulates everything that’s wrong with Drake and his persona, which could be aptly named “certified lover boy”. He treats his fans similarly to how I would imagine he treats women-promising them more maturity, follow-through, complexity, and finesse than he ever ends up *actually* giving. There are soooo many self-owns in the bars of this album that when people come for him for being a “lesbian” or being predatory towards women, he’s gonna gaslight the hell out of them and claim top-dog status because he’s a Don Juan of the music industry. Drake is smooth. But he ain’t deep. He doesn’t put in the artistic effort (even though he COULD, which is super frustrating), and his bars are weak af. He shouldn’t be getting outshined by his features like this. It’s almost like OVO, as an entity, continues to have its priorities wrong and is completely unwilling to change a formula that keeps singles on the charts instead of curating albums with depth or vision… they’re just chasing dollars like rabid dogs. Anyway. Drake is so irritating and low key I feel like the information that he’s shared with us about his love life and approach to the rap game in this record make me dislike him even more. This man has a huge ego and wants to TREND rather than impress or communicate an artistic statement/vision… I dunno, but I don’t think the annals music history will look back on Drake as fondly as he thinks it will.
if you said this 6 years ago id call u crazy but this accurately represents drake today. seems like hes just tryna recreate his old shit but just doing it worse
It really is mad frustrating. Especially with all the promo, and the haircuts i thought this album would have much more complexity, maybe even ironically play on the stereotypical soft drake some people have painted him as. He has the influence, he has the hits, but the only thing that differentiates him with his contemporary's, a.k.a Kendrick and Cole, is the willing to take artistic risks, and depth. His Pen game is really strong when he wants to be, so it's not like he can't do it. I couldn't have said it better.
yh exactly - on the one hand it must be hard to put loads of effort into songs now as he's been at the top for so long and no matter how shit a song he releases it still goes top 5 at the minimum, but also was expecting a way better album not some 21 pretty generic drake songs with 3/4 max standout songs. Especially after the deserved criticism of scorpion would've expected something above a 6-6.5/10 album, for me as a big drake and ye fan clb was no where near as good as donda
@DaChana Blaydes that's a good point! It happened to me on several tracks from donda, and I'm not religious. But you feel ye in the samples, beats, production, not just the lyrics. Donda is a beautiful album.
Clb sound like drake last for albums. It's a pass for me....he makes an album every year. He needs to take a break like ye, frank ocean and Kendrick. It felt good to hear Kendrick after so long and u can tell he's deep into how ever his album is going to be. Drake sounds thee saaaaame. Noting different or mind blowing
Wtf are you talking about he hasn’t dropped an album in 3 years 😂…. DLDT was a album full of leaks and Care package was a bunch of old songs put into a collective for his fans. Album is his most forgettable album for sure but he kind of did take a break he was just completely uninspired.
The more R&B influenced tracks (Get Along Better, F**king Fans, etc.) were definitely the stronger parts of the album in my opinion. I kinda expected more of that from his CLB era vs. a lot of the very HARD rapping we got. Still a great album overall just not what I was expecting/hoping for necessarily.

@@davidamrovhe779 you're right. Evolution can mean changing your sound too and he doesn't do that at all either

This is 40's album. lol
This is a Drake album and that is a compliment and a criticism. He refuses to leave his comfort zone. He will never make a "bad" album but that is my problem with Drake. There is zero risk. I'll give it a few more spins but I can't see myself going back to this after that.
You read my mind
So you’d rather get a bad drake album….that you don’t like, just to see him “leave his comfort zone” and “take a risk”, which means nothing…..
@@xXStIcKiNgXx look at Kanye, most people would agree that he has at least one bad album with jik, but he’s taken so many risks and had so many paid off with way more certified classics than any other rapper in the game, let alone drake. Yeah least a bad album has some bangers this was kinda all high quality but eh.
People called this a top 3 album and a classic. This album was meh.
Always happens with drake albums , y’all hate on it at first but it becomes a classic in 2-3 years
Its kinda painful to admit to this as a Drake fan. I really expected better. Really thought that 9 month postponement would make it so much better than what it is. Second half it really felt like it was a chore to listen to it.
I don’t want to here mid anymore if you you say something is mid you gotta be under the age of 14
After reeling in my expectations, I can appreciate it for what it is a bit more, which is another Drake album, in the same way Culture 3 was another Migos album.
My sentiments exactly. Except, I think instead of it being seen as “on brand” I see it more as being lazy and uninspired.

Agreed
@@iammatthewdavid03 that’s a good thing, donda was a DJ khaled album made by Kanye, nothing but features saving the day
Ya wack
@Mr Stungus I don’t get it either bro 😳🤷🏾♂️

Album sounded boring when I was listening to it at 3am alone.
Album sounded great on my way to work knowing a three day weekend is coming up. Album sounded better after linking with a few friends and just throwing it on in the background.

Drake will give subliminals to ye and pusha t his whole life but coudnt respond to adidon.
The shots at ye are actually ruining these tracks for me at this point. He’s been sending subliminals for 3 years now because he can’t cope with the Story of Adidon.

Everything on this project sounds the same to y’all ? I got that from Trippie’s album last week lol but I didn’t cut on CLB and think the same but I guess we have different ears.
He has hella sounds but like most of the songs on this album just sound like reused flows, lyrics and content matter. Most people hate this album because it’s too Rnb. That’s what it should be. It’s called Certified Lover Boy for a reason. However, i think the tracklist needs adjusting, so here’s how i would make CLB a great album
cover art - The CLB logo he was promoting
1. Champagne Poetry: Classic intro. No discussion
2. Papi’s Home: This song isn’t great but it fits the theme of the album and sets the tone well.
3. Wants and Needs (feat. Lil Baby): Cut Girls Want Girls and get the other Lil Baby song
4. Laugh Now Cry Later (feat. Lil Durk): Cut In The Bible and get the other Lil Durk song. Also this was supposed to be the lead single for CLB.
5. Love All (with JAY-Z): The ready to die part fits well after the two singles, and is a decent enough song to keep on
6. Get Along Better (feat. Ty Dolla : Perfect song for the theme, and a classic song. One of his best IMO.
7. Pipe Down: Flows well after Love All, and is a great song
8. Yebba’s Heartbreak (feat. Yebba): Tranistions after Pipe Down. Also great interlude
9. Chicago Freestyle (feat. Giveon): In this world DLDT is like a 6 song EP: This song fits in well with the album and is good.
10. Not You Too (feat. Chris Brown): Amazing song, and fits the theme again
11. Fair Trade (with Travis Scott): Not a love song but you can’t leave it off here. Classic track.
12. TSU: I feel like Fair Trade does a good transition into this song, it fits theme, and is good
13. N 2 Deep (with Future): Transitions from TSU, and a classic
14. Way 2 Sexy (with Future & Young Thug): I know this song sucks but it kind of fits the theme and it was the big single on this album.
15. No Friends In The Industry: The only reason this track is on here is because it talks about Kanye/Kendrick which was a big storyline around this albums release.
16. 7am on Bridle Path: see above
17. Race My Mind: Transitions from 7am, and fits the theme perfectly, the last part of this song is like the climax of the album
18. F*****g Fans: Ik people HATE this song. I don’t get it. One of the best on the album, flows well after RMM, and fits the theme perfectly. Also good closer to the love themed songs
Put it between Remorse and YOLT
Knife Talk got cut because it doesn’t fit the theme of the album. At all. Put it on SM2. Same thing with Fountains.
IMY2 got cut because it’s not memorable enough + can’t find spot on tracklist

Donda is on different type of wavelength tbh CLB not Comin close to it. not tryna pin them against each other it’s obvious both Ye and drake can co exist but it’s really hard to compare them when drake is bringing the same drake formula to his recent albums. The closing track was kinda nice and I was thinking “wait was that album actually kinda good?” And then I remembered everything else and thought “yeah… not really”.
exactly my reaction, very disappointing-ended up only adding 3-4 songs to my playlist surprisingly
Yeah he haves a huge ego
Agree 100%
if you said this 6 years ago id call u crazy but this accurately represents drake today. seems like hes just tryna recreate his old shit but just doing it worse
