I can't believe I have only just found this video. It's beautiful, you're beautiful and you brought all the emotions of walking the Camino right back for me. It's now 4 years since I walked the Camino and I again feel overwhelmed by the divided, polarised, unequal society I live in - the Camino is equality, the Camino is kindness, the Camino is understanding and the Camino is a reminder that we are so much more than our monetary value. I am now 65 and your lessons are as true at my age as thy are at yours. If you receive what you give, as I think you do, then I hope you are happy and living your life with passion. God bless you.
Oh myyyy.. your message just got to me on the perfect timing because I really needed to hear this. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. This first camino has been years ago and I have never felt stronger in my life than after walking this one. I am currently pregnant and I feel the same thing about society and a longing for simple life. The hormones are intense at times and this is a good reminder to watch my camino lessons again. Thanks

Thank you Jen for the fantastic Vlog! We have recently returned from a mini-Camino this year. Even though we only walked from Sarria to Santiago de Compostella we had a beautiful experience and met fantastic people from all over the world. We absolutely support your wise lessons and would love to bump into when we do our next Camino adventure in 2021 ! Love Nick and Mary from Australia. PS Mary cried (tears of joy) watching your vlog.

It was nice to watch an honest seeker with an open heart. A Catholic would say the Holy Spirit was with you on your Camino. Congratulations on your accomplishment.
Just got back from my Camino , where I achieved a peace that had eluded me for some time . Your film has helped me to remember this now I am struggling to return to some of my stresses, and love the lessons. There is a lot I need to let go of to keep that feeling I got . Thanks for one of the better films I have seen
Thank you so much Jenneke for this amazing video and congratulations on capturing the Camino Spirit!! Loved your authenticity, hopeness, emotional maturity, how you connect with others, insights, lessons of life (to which I can relate)... I just Love the Camino and what it entitles! Also did that same route in 2004 and it literally changed my life. It made me emotional when you said one should feel privileged when the Camino calls, and it keeps calling even after doing it 6 times now. Lot's of Love and blessings to your beautiful soul!
What a beautiful and heartfelt video Jen! I loved the photos, videos and personal glimpses. You are so genuine and it's really a touching video that you so kindly shared with us. All the best!
Absolutely brilliant! I walked Camino de Santiago in 2017 and now watching your video made me so emotional... remembering my own trip and seeing the similarities in your experience. Such a joy to know that there is this area in the world where people can go so deep within themselves.
So nice to hear from you, Elena! Thanks for sharing that you went through the same experiences, I love that! It's sometimes hard to explain it to people who haven't walked it. Stay centered
Amazing! I think you really captured the essence of the Camino. I did my 888km walk from SJPDP to Finisterre in five weeks starting at the 5 of June this year. Your video brings back so many memories and today it is exactly four weeks since I finished. I also find it really hard when people ask "how was the Camino?" because I really can't sum up five weeks into a sentence. The Camino for me is more of a feeling. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much for sharing this, Linnea! You went to Finesterre, amazing. Congrats :) I arrived back in Holland half of June, so you just started then. Thanks for watching!
Jenneke, Thank you so much for sharing your journey and your lessons... you are intelligent, funny, lovely and soulful... I hope I meet people like you when I take my Camino journey next year. Bless you. Buen Camino!
After loosing my wife in October last year I have planned my Camino in August. Thank you for your insight into your experiences I am now looking forward to my own spiritual journey x
Dear Jen, I am Dutch too, but answering in English, because, this journey from you and your insights are universal, thank you for sharing, and inspiring me again...Last week the Camino is pulling in again. I walked the Camino in 2016 and have now at this time an exhibition in the townhouse of Odijk, maybe we could drink a cup of coffee an can I show it it to you...Greetz Guus van Gunst
Dear Guus, I had to look up where Odijk is (Utrecht!). That is amazing, congratulations! If you want, add me on Facebook (Jenneke van Genechten) so we can talk about it there. :D Thanks for the sweet response, I cannot wait to do the French route again. Xxx
Jen, thank you very much for your inspirational video. When you cried after you saw a bottle of water and a banana left behind for you by someone whom you met along the way of your Pilgrimage to Santiago, I also couldn't hold my tears. Exceptionally, this video is very emotional. None of the videos of Pilgrimage to Santiago on youtube is inspirationl than yours. I am planning to do the Pilgrimage to Santiago once I retire in the nearest future. Wish you the best and happy new year. Greetings from California, USA
I cannot hold my tears also every time I see that part of the video. Sometimes, I watch parts of it, just to remind myself of how I was feeling there. :) Thanks for your super kind reply! How about go this year instead of when you retire? (even if it's only for a week?) Love, Jen
Jen, you really make me cry and weep at this very moment. I couldn't even type. Yes, Jen, you're my inspiration. I will do it in this coming October. I am an US government employee and only allow 5 weeks paid vacation each year. However, each time allow maximum only 2 weeks. That is why. But I will take your advice and will move on. Perhaps, only a half of the Pilgrimage of Santiango this year and the rest of it next year. I will let you know what happen in November. You're my inspiration. Thanks million.
Dear you, what is your name? My heart is filled with joy to read that you decided to go for one week! You know, it doesn't matter if you break it into 10 pieces or if you walk this camino at once. Every time you go and walk a part of this path, you walk a part of your own path and that's beautiful. I will go in june this year, but also only for one, max two weeks. And i'm sure it will fuel me again!
Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing the thoughts that emerge from such an adventure. Lots of wisdom from such a young and beautiful lass. I am planning to walk the camino in the spring of 2020.
What a beautiful video. Thanks for your honesty in sharing. Im walking parts of the Camino soon and am eager to have my experience and lessons. A really great video...Thank you!

Hi Jenneke Thank you for your video. My wife and I (Donna & Mark) had dinner with you in Zubri that night--what a party that was. Your video instantly brought back the joys and the simplicity of the Camino. You shared so much from your heart thank you. PS you might want to watch the UA-cam video 'thoughts on the Camino'

Goedendag von Seattle (USA), Jenneke! Thank you for an excellent video that shows your Camino experience especially well. Your lessons are both personal and universal... and rather inspiring. Sorry our Ways did not intersect, it would have been great to meet and chat with you, however briefly. Perhaps next year. My sister wants to make the pilgrimage after hearing me go on (and on and on) about it. She and I will start in SJPdP come August. I must break in a new pair of shoes before then. Buen Camino!
What a lovely comment, David! Thank you :) Great to hear that you fell in love with the camino too. Have a very good one with your sister (how special)! Love, Jen
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing your experience. I just returned from my camino 2 weeks ago. it was wonderful and taught me so many lessons. Great job! xoxo
@@holyshitcoaching23 there were so many lessons along The Way, but I would say, the biggest lesson is that we already have the answers inside of us. We just need to slow down and listen. I've learned that life is about connection and love. That's it. Buen Camino!
Hi from Mexico, only if you do it you can really understand what The Camino is all about. I have done it 4 times and hopefully will do it again on 2019 with my youngest daughter Daniela (22). Every time its different even if you do exactly the same route. Thank you for sharing, beautiful post.
Hello there! How special that you will do this with your daughter! She's lucky to have a dad like that. Thanks for your message and I wish you both the most amazing camino :)
Congratulations is a really a good video and your thoughs about the Camino is exactly how I feel it by myself, I did it from Saint Jean to Finnisterre in the last April and was the best experience in my life and the best part was the lovely people I have known. I'm from Chile and is not easy (if you are not a rich guy) get the money to travel to Europe and all the pilgrims asked me why I was doing the Camino in my first visit to Europe? jajaja I said to them because it worth, every kilometer and every pain in my body, gave me the best time and the oportunity to live such an amazings moments and memories life. thanks for share your moments. kind regards Karyn
Thank you Karyn, for your kind words. I walked also in April this year! Well... I started on the 30th. So actually May, I walked. So lovely to hear your experience on this! love, Jen
@@holyshitcoaching23 Just a few months ago, from May 26 to June 27. This journey change my life. I imagine you thought, as I did, that this is something more people should know about, so you did this amazing video and I'm writting a book.
What a wonderful way to share your adventure. I'm struggling to put it all into one so I have made daily videos so far. I really enjoyed the way you put this together though, nice work x
Hi dear pilgrim and friend, thanks for the compliment! Why don't you keep the footage for yourself and pick the best parts from each day to make the compilation? love
Hi Lisa, I was very proud during and right after the camino, and still am sometimes! It's funny how things like these fade away into our daily lives again. I miss the camino and everything that comes with it a lot. Thanks for your kind message :)
You rock! You are beautiful, intelligent and funny. I appreciate this video; it is excellent! I will walk in the fall of 2020 with my son who will be 12. This is best video I have seen; you should be very proud of yourself. Cheers!
Hey Marie, you are so sweet! Thanks for what you wrote. And how amazing that you're gonna walk with your son! Incredible! Your son is lucky to have a mom who let's him do stuff like that on an early age :) :) Buen camino!
Wonderful heart felt story. Well done. The only thing that disappointed me was that you ended up taking a cab while walking through the Messeta. That is a real pity; for me at least, that section of the Camino was the part where I really learned a lot about solitude and silence and the deeper meaning of all those signs that you see along the way that say "Don't stop, keep walking".
Hi Gio, thanks for your message. I'm sorry I disappointed you ;) At that time, I really just couldn't continue. I was drained, empty, emotional, tired... but hey, next time I'm prepared! Gives space for 'improvement', although I can actually be fine with having done this because I listened to what my body needed. Love xx
Thanks for taking the time to reply. Hope you get another opportunity to walk the Camino and experience the full Meseta (or indeed another route....I highly recommend the Northern route). Its true, the Meseta can be seen as a limbo stage and a very difficult one at that, especially if your not physically and mentally in the right shape. To my bewilderment this was the most profound and therapeutic stage. I shed many a tear not because of any pain but because the silence was deafening; the wide-open spaces frightening because all you could see in front of you was celestial horizen after horizon. It was so hard to pick anything in the distance and make it a short term goal to walk towards:. A tree? A shinny object? A poll? That 200 kilometres seemed like 4,000. The heat was also unbreakable no matter what I tried to do to defend myself. I vowed there and then I would never do another Camino as long as I lived (I've done 2 others since!!!!!!!). Yes you must listen to your body. It's a question of prevention v's intervention. Everyone to their own in how they handle this. In any case it was your camino and you obviously savoured it. Its never a question of how many kilometres you walk- but what you got out of each step that counts, no matter how thunderous, small or big that step is. Again, well done. I really liked the easily explained messages in your video. Thats something very difficult to do. BTW I look forward to your next Camino!
@@giopomerol3952 Hey there :) After your message, I'm very determined to walk the Meseta next time. Thank you for that. When I'll do it, I'll make another video. And this time I'm prepared ;) Have a good week!!
It's fairly easy, if planning is the problem! Because you can also go for one week. Or is the 'hope' in being able to go linked to another aspect of your life?
Mittlerweile habe ich schon so viele Camino Clips gesehen aber dieser ist der beste. Ich bin selbst gerade erst zurück vom Frances und Fisterra und Muxia. Ich kann nur vor Freude und Rührung mitheulen

Jenneke van Genechten hey jenneke, que tal?for me it was the second camino. Last year in may the camino del norte complete, in September the part from Irun to Bilbao for a second time and now in October/November frances from sjpdp to burgos and then Santiago over Fisterra to muxia. Hey Zsuzsa, I'm wondering: do you think the camino changed a lot since the 90s? As far as you can judge from the video. Thanks for your words :) My life has been great after. Echt fijn even dit, jouw filmpjes kijken.
Knuffel! (voeg me gerust toe op fb)
Mi Margaret, thank you! Well, the first night I didn't and after that loooong first day there was no spot for me in Roncesvalles. Crying. So the next thee nights I booked ahead out of fear, but after that I dropped it again. I only prebooked when I would go to a small village. I'm a slow walker and arrive later than most pilgrims. Buen camino!
Jenneke van Genechten omg 😬 What did you do for staying somewhere the first night. Did you mainly stay in Auberges. Or did up your game and stay in more private rooms. Thank you for the quick response. Going to watch your video again lol
@@margaretgranny-mackay6522 I took a cab to the next village. I think 75% albergues and 25% private rooms. Once you get to know people, it's nice to share a room with 2 or 4. Depends on what you're willing to spend also
Hi Nancy, That's great! Hmm... difficult question. I have no clue actually: I spent about €3000,- in total: gear, flights, holiday on Ibiza afterwards, sleeping, food,... But it can be very cheap! You can do it for about €25,- a day (even less if you're on a tight budget). :) xxx
This video had me crying! Thank you so much for charing and being so real. I'm still thinking about walking the Camino in August/September.. How much time would you recommend on planning for it?
Hi Paula, Thanks for your kind message, it touches me. Sometimes, when I walk it, it makes me cry again too. Note: august is very hot! Maybe september would be better. I'm going in June, and i already know I will be sweating a lot ;) If you want to walk the same route as I did (Frances, 800km), you can do yourself a favor by taking 5 weeks. It can be done in 4 (or even faster) but it's so nice to just walk and pause whenever YOU want to and spend some time in Santiago afterwards. Buen camino! xxx
Hi Janneke, Thanks for your quick reply and the tips! I’ll probably have to start at the end of August and then walk throughout September, just because it’s the only time I can get off for many weeks in a row.. But I’ll prepare for a lot of sweating 😅 Thanks again! 😊

Your film has helped me to remember this now I am struggling to return to some of my stresses, and love the lessons. There is a lot I need to let go of to keep that feeling I got . Thanks for one of the better films I have seen
Great to read this! Makes me smile, thank you for that. Happy to hear you had such a peaceful journey. Stay centered xxx
Wowww! Six times? You rock! I hope it keeps calling you over and over again. Thanks for the kind words
Such a great narrative. You opened my eyes to some of the value and emotions to expect. Thank you for this beautiful and really impressive story.
Aww.. so welcome! Thank YOU! :)
What a beautiful summary of the Camino. So many camino truths and realisations I also came to. Buen Camino fellow pilgrim.
buen camino beautiful lady!
A very well done overview of the Camino, your views and thoughts. You are lovely inside and out. Hope to see more of your videos.
That's so sweet, thanks so much! I also made one about the Portuguese route! xxx
What a beautiful and heartfelt video Jen! I loved the photos, videos and personal glimpses. You are so genuine and it's really a touching video that you so kindly shared with us. All the best!
Hi Mary, thank you for watching and your kind words, they touch me! Have a good year. Love, Jen
Thanks for sharing your amazing journey and the beautiful lessons learned. You are a lovely lady inside and out.
This just made my day.. thanks, David
After loosing my wife in October last year I have planned my Camino in August. Thank you for your insight into your experiences I am now looking forward to my own spiritual journey x
I'm sorry for your loss. :( Thanks for the kind words. This is going to help you heal Ian, buen camino.
Xxx
Jen,
thank you very much for your inspirational video.
When you cried after you saw a bottle of water and a banana left behind for you
by someone whom you met along the way of your Pilgrimage to Santiago,
I also couldn't hold my tears. Exceptionally, this video is very emotional.
None of the videos of Pilgrimage to Santiago on youtube is inspirationl
than yours.
(even if it's only for a week?)
Love, Jen
Jen,
you really make me cry and weep at this very moment.
I couldn't even type.
Yes,
Jen, you're my inspiration.
Jen, great video! Can you tell me the calendar date you started in SJPDP in 2018?
Hi Lana, I'm not completely sure but I think it must have been 1 or 2 May
Lovely video. You revealed more about the camino in half an hour than many do in hours.
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you liked it.
Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing the thoughts that emerge from such an adventure. Lots of wisdom from such a young and beautiful lass. I am planning to walk the camino in the spring of 2020.
Well thank you, John! Lovely to hear you're going to do it too! I hope it brings you what it has brought me :
What a beautiful video. Thanks for your honesty in sharing. Im walking parts of the Camino soon and am eager to have my experience and lessons. A really great video...Thank you!
Hi Rene, how kind of you to write me a message, thank you! :)
What parts are you going to walk?
Im starting in Pamplona on 18Sept...both excited and nervous for travelling alone but totally convinced that Ill enjoy every moment!
Nervousness will be gone as soon as you set foot in Pamplona! :) BUEN CAMINO!
I could say a million words so I'll summarise... Thank You! Best Camino youtube experience available.

I wish you an amazing camino! :) love, Jen
And this time I'm prepared ;)

Echt fijn even dit, jouw filmpjes kijken.
Knuffel! (voeg me gerust toe op fb)
Thank you, Jenn. Just beautiful, wise, and true -- like you!

hi, nice video, now I know I would love to do this soon, what was your budget without the airline tickets?

Thanks for your kind message, it touches me. Sometimes, when I walk it, it makes me cry again too.
Note: august is very hot! Maybe september would be better. I'm going in June, and i already know I will be sweating a lot ;)
If you want to walk the same route as I did (Frances, 800km), you can do yourself a favor by taking 5 weeks. It can be done in 4 (or even faster) but it's so nice to just walk and pause whenever YOU want to and spend some time in Santiago afterwards.
Buen camino! xxx
Hi Janneke,
Thanks for your quick reply and the tips! I’ll probably have to start at the end of August and then walk throughout September, just because it’s the only time I can get off for many weeks in a row.. But I’ll prepare for a lot of sweating 😅

Jenneke, I love you.
