    I do think drinking too much is very dangerous, for oneself and others, I also think it's pathetic and stupid. But that's also much more understandable given the fact that this is something you have access to so easily,and socially accepted by everyone. Whereas drugs, that's definitely someone's choice to take them and they have to be willing to do efforts to be provided with drugs.

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому

    Yes I know about that, and i'm still trying to decide how I feel about it ...

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому

    Yes I said it in my comments, it is specifically when consumed in very low doses. In doses which are reasonable. A glass of wine once in a while, maybe not everyday(and I don't mean a huge glass) is actually not dangerous at all. Smoking weed everyday is.
    In France it's a scourge, just like everywhere really. But I think the reason why it is one, is because nowadays people want to allow everything and are afraid to look like righteous(just like I was said to be)so don't condemn anything anymore

    I've attempted to get completely off any drug and all it did was make my depression and eating disorder the worst it's ever been and I nearly died because of it. I don't plan to be addicted to or abuse drugs for the rest of my life, but for the meantime until I can safely become sober without succumbing to my mental illnesses this is all I have that can keep me going. I understand what you were trying to say, and I agree with you, but please don't be so harsh to judge those that have no choice.

  • @Antastesia

    Yes but we come back to my first point: when it comes to alcohol the product itself isn't the problem but the way people perceive it and consume it.
    As or the noble side of it, let's say we agree to disagree?

      In addition, I really appreciate your thoughts about people who take illicit drugs for fun and pleasure. It is really very simple in terms of what everyone's view should be isn't it? I mean if it destroys your life, or that of your family, how can you call it something good, or ok?
      I feel the same way about pornography. It is EVERYWHERE you look and so easily accessible and hardly anyone thinks there is anything wrong with it. But it is so devastating and degrading to anyone who creates it, or uses it. We are humans and we are supposed to have dignity, integrity and honor.
      So how in the world does pornography honor the father or mother of one of the men, or women who take off their clothes and do sex acts for a camera?!?!
      And another thing…having sex…or more accurately, MAKING LOVE to someone is supposed to be a beautiful, sacred and private thing shared only between a man and a woman. How can it ever be what it is supposed to be when it is constantly reduced to an animalistic act that is shared with the whole world?!?!
      And please don't get me started on how it absolutely RUINS the young developing brains of children. There are studies currently being done that say there has NEVER been a time in our human history where so much pornography has been available and has affected our young people on such a scale. There is literally an entire generation of children being raised on pornography and there have already been devastating consequences to this. The worst is yet to come. How can this be a good thing for society??
      I feel sorry for these children…but I especially feel sorry for little girls who think that in order for them to feel valued by another person, they need to take off their clothes and show their bodies in a sexually suggestive way. And the saddest part is that more and more of them do this WILLINGLY and they have NO role models to turn to for encouragement. You mentioned Katy Perry and she should be ASHAMED of herself for how she represents herself. And for what? Money and admiration??
      NONE of it is worth it and ALL of it is short-lived...

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому

    I just meant it's easier to fall into alcohol than drugs because it's not presented as something dangerous. And I think it's wrong.
    My main point is that anything if in too important quantity can be bad for you( or almost)and get you addicted. But for some products the issue lies within the society or the individual because the product in itself is not a bad thing(food/money/alcohol/sport)BUT drugs are in themselves already to blame&an issue because never good for you.

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому

    I do agree with you on that. but they are not the cases I was talking about, nor the majority of cases.

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому

    I know medicine can be addictive, and that's a very sad thing, but that's a complete different story when you have to take medicine for some medicinal reasons, and then you get addicted. Especially when other circumstances make it even harder to stop(just like depression). But I guess we both agree that weed&codeine made it worse, cause now not only you have to deal with the disease but also with the addiction .. I wish you all the best and apologize if I hurt you, I didn't mean to.

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому

    Also to reply to your comment. You do not see advertisement for drugs, you don't take drugs at family dinners, you don't take drugs for birthday or new year's eve toast(at least I hope you don't) but you do with alcohol. That's what I mean by society pushing you towards alcohol and not pushing you towards drugs.I don't mean it's a good thing nor that you shouldn't question everything society offers you, but that's just how it is. it makes it easier to start drinking.

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому

    In France it is completely illegal, and no one uses it for medicinal reasons, I mean not legally. It's not very common, that's why it's not something I think of first. But even then, I'm not sure I find it to be a good thing.

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому

    I think that when it comes to alcohol the issue is how society presents it and how people see it. Not the actual product itself. But drugs TO ME are the problem. Not society nor people.
    That's my thoughts very simply put.

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому

    I guess it depends on what damage means for you doesn't it? To be getting addicted, losing your memory, losing brain cells, losing your ability to react quickly, visions, voices, deliriums, slowing down your thoughts ... that's damaging the brain. And all drugs do that. They all distort and degrade brains... And I've had friends taking a looot of various drugs, I know about them.. Not all drunk people are aggressive though. But alcohol is not in moderation sucks as well!

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому

    Well having a potential to be anxious doesn't make you anxious. So yes I blame marijuana for making you anxious in that case...
    My grand dad was killed in a car accident by someone who wasn't in an appropriate state to drive.

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому +1

    You make a point. But then again, in france there are some areas which suffer a lot because of dealers and how they are trying to break laws, rule and control everything... they are the first victims of the violence, criminality that drugs creates, so why would they want to perpetuate such a thing? makes no sense. call me harsh, I call that being a bit stupid.

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому

    Nope, I've been taught how bad it can be from friends who used to take it.
    However I am against it, and that is my opinion, I stated that it is what I THINK, I didn't say IT IS. Also, if you need some external help to open your mind and grow spiritually .... I'd like to think I'm strong enough to do that by myself.

    I know what you're talking about. Throughout high school I have seen the type of people you mentioned. Most of the people I knew who did abuse marijuana did not have the best family lives. I can imagine it served as an escape from their demons. They weren't addicted in the traditional sense (i.e. having a withdrawal) but they did become dependent of it in order to find any source of happiness. As I mentioned in my last comment, there will always be people who abuse and ruin something.

  • @Antastesia
    @Antastesia  11 років тому

    I am a person of values&opinions, I couldn't care less sounding judgemental as long as I'm true to myself and have the courage to speak my mind. Maybe you should learn about courage. And deciding to condemn something that's supposed to be cool doesn't make me immaturely righteous, but just able to think by myself, and not someone deluding oneself into thinking that going against the right/good attitude makes oneself openminded and free.

  • @MoonlightPassions
    @MoonlightPassions 11 років тому

    I have to say that while I love watching your videos and adore your personality, listening to you talk about how disgusting and stupid taking drugs is really made me feel horrible. I was dependent on weed at one point, but I feel that it helped me more than harmed me as it kept my depression at bay. I agree that taking drugs is bad when abused, but to be honest even though I'm addicted to codeine right now, I'm keeping my life together until I can function without it...

  • @Antastesia

    I do think alcohol can be a noble thing. Take wine for example. It takes a lot of knowledge, hardwork, and passion to produce wine. It can be really good for your health, and millésimes can taste different, also some bottles are years&years old... And a glass of wine won't change your behavior or perception of reality...
    Also keep in mind I don't want to glorify acohol, I personaly don't even drink and don't like the taste of it, and have a phobia of drunk people so... being objective !

    I've lived in Vietnam and the US, I recommend visiting both. But if you're going to Vietnam, pack light! Shorts, shirts, and sunscreens are musts.
    I have a few questions:
    Do you judge people as bad if you find out they do drugs or smoke? Most of the people I know who smoke marijuana are 100x more easy going or sociable than people who drink. In the states, domestic & social problems like abuse & driving accidents are usually alcohol related. So there are heavier stigmas if you're a drinker rather than a smoker. Does France have these issues?
    Are you on medication for your anxiety? It's interesting that you have them when you speak many languages which is a great social skill. Or is learning new languages helping you with the anxiety?
    Thanks!

    Well what I stated in my comment are facts ... I never disagreed with you, it is very harmful IF you drink too much. Otherwise it has no impact on your health( or yes, even positive) and doesn't change your behavior/reactivity. I think it's bad how society thinks it's acceptable to be drunk, to drink from a young age... But alcohol is not to blame, society is. When it comes to drugs, the product is much more dangerous, if you take the same dose of marijuana or heroin or acid or alcohol /

  • @Finuts183

    lol I drive high all the time, I wouldn't recommend people to do it though, but that is a pretty harsh view on drugs and/or marijuana. The people that become paranoid or anxious from marijuana are already paranoid and anxious, marijuana just enhances or amplify those feelings, making you confront them . In a way marijuana reveals you to yourself, but marijuana is definitely not for everyone. Great video by the way :)

  • @Eddie2112x
    @Eddie2112x 11 років тому

    For the middle classes perhaps, yes, but many people live in areas where certain drugs are as socially accepted and as readily available as alcohol. In that situation, the influence of social norms on their choice to take drugs is the same as it is on the ostensibly understandable choice to take alcohol.

    Alcohol is deeply ingrained in our cultural identities, so it is understandable for you to feel that way about it. That does not however make your view on the matter any less hypocritical.
    Alcohol is a poison, and among harmful substances that we as humans like to consume it's nowhere near the least harmful (however you want do define that).
    I personally rarely drink and don't smoke at all, but I'm making my third coffee of the day.
    It's all about moderation :P

      I agree, however I do not think that she has reciprocated that respect to other people's opinions. Just a comment, but before you refute my argument, you should actually think about it. Anyone who has challenged her thinking has received harsh criticism just as they have done. No one interacts cohesively or even civilly anymore.

    • @Antastesia
      @Antastesia  11 років тому +4

      Tori Tarin maybe because you mistake hypocrisy for civility. That's all. As soon as you voice a strong negative opinion about something people call you narrow minded, and if you dare not changing it people call you unrespectful or intolerant. I was asked a question so I give my opinion, I've never been on someone's video/post/picture whatever to blame them them for smoking weed or anything of that sort. That would be unrespectful. However if I'm asked my opinion I'm going to give it honestly. I'm sorry you can't appreciate that.

    • @toritarin4374
      @toritarin4374 11 років тому

      That is exactly what I am talking about... You had to end your sentence in a negative manner. You had to say, "I'm sorry you can't appreciate that." I am not here to fight or belittle. It was just an observation. Yes, we are all entitled to our own opinions and that is respected, but it is important to look at other views.

    • @Antastesia
      @Antastesia  11 років тому +4

      Tori Tarin excuse me, you come on my video to tell me, well not really to say how "she" hasn't reciprocated that respect blabla, and you blame me for saying taht I'm sorry you cannot appreciate my honesty ? Sure, I am the one to blame. Looking at other views? I had plenty of occasions to look at other views on the matter and my view won't change, what do you want more? If you're unahppy with the fact that I know what I think and what my values are, too bad for you this won't change.

    • @toritarin4374

    I have friends who use marijuana, I love them but I still think they're stupid and disgusting for doing that. Not to say I've never said there were no good points in using it but the bad ones outbalance them by far to me. And probably you should be the one to realize that in life yes, nothing's either black or white but something having good points doesn't make it good in the end.

    And I would wager that the majority of people see the primary purpose of alcohol in intoxication (slight or heavy).
    I am of course comparing apples and oranges in some respect.
    I just feel that we give alcohol and its presentation in society too much leeway, and that taking its image away from "noble" or "traditional", or "it's not going anywhere might as well just go with it" would do everyone good.

    I don't drink at all. Like never. But I don't agree with you really... I see alcohol somehow like food. If you eat way too much food, that will be harmful and nogood for your health. But if you're reasonable about your intake of food, no big deal, even if it's fried cheese. To me alcohol is somehow similar to that, but obviously slightly different since it can damage your brain. And you can also get addicted to food. No moderation for drugs, it's just bad.

    It can be argued that violence, law-breaking, control and criminality are the products of drug legislation rather than the products of drugs themselves, and so why perpetuate laws that in many cases cause more damage than the drugs themselves? Here in Wales, too, many impoverished areas suffer from the same problems, but it's not the case that people starting dealing drugs and communities were rent asunder, it's the opposite way around.

    Do you think I'm the kind of person to talk about something without making proper research about it and talking with people who actually have experienced it? Just because my opinion is not the same as yours means I have the false informations? If you enjoy a culture of peoplelikevegetables good for you, but I don't. I like art and thoughts that come from work and real talent.I'm lucky enough to be healthy, in respect of all the ones that aren't as lucky, I'll keep on blaming drugs.

    Weed, cigarettes and alcohol can make you feel a little bit better when you're miserable.
    *sigh*

      Eh. Aside from Marijuana, the good feeling is usually just placebo or the actual fulfillment of an addiction. Even if it does legitimately make you feel better though, it is still incredibly harmful and there are much better, more wholly positive remedies for misery.

    And guns are impressive, almost beautiful displays of engineering ingenuity that can under ideal circumstances provide yourself and your family with a solidified feeling of security and reassurance (at least I have heard people describe the matter in that way), and possessing one doesn't mean you are going to shoot someone.
    Those are valid points, but they don't change the fact that I don't want guns near my family or my country.
    Not that I think a ban on alcohol would work in any case haha

    Especially here in Germany though hoping for that kind of thing is utopian.
    People love and are proud of their beer and schnaps, and they drink it until they drown in it.

    Your perception of alcohol does not matter, what matters are the facts, and alcohol is regarded as one of the, if not the most harmful drug (and it is a drug), especially considering how socially acceptable, even expected it is to consume it (in much too large quantities).
    Personal moderation is, like you said, a solution, and in my opinion not only in regards to food and alcohol. But I've got no problem to agree to disagree there :)

  • @MrGabblit
    @MrGabblit 11 років тому

    What bothered me was the glorified way alcohol was portrayed in the video (a "noble" thing), as well as the apologist argumentation in favor of it.
    "Alcohol isn't bad, people are" to me rings the same bell as the American gun-lobbyists "Guns don't kill people, people do" argument.
    I don't want to argue about marijuana at all because I don't know much about the subject, I just felt put off by the alcohol aspect.
    She raises very good points though - well, it's a difficult subject.

    I nearly fell in love with you there for one second. But then you talked about weed. Lol. And don't get me wrong you are an awesome and inspiring human being, but I study and work and plan to begin traveling soon.. and I smoke weed all the time... haha. I don't go near cigarettes, and I just turned 21 and haven't had a single drink since then. But to say that marijuana makes you drive badly or that it kills brain cells is utter bullshit. Sorry, but it's true. I actually find marijuana to be a beautiful plant. It's already legal in Colorado and Washington, and Uruguay. Just don't spread mis-info, when people talk and say "drugs are bad" when half of the world is hooked on anti-depressants and ADHD and OCD pills..

    • @Antastesia

      Please don't spread mis-info YOU. How can people still deny fact that have been proven by science? Ah maybe they're addicted to something and delusionnal. yes maybe. and also anti-depressants sure aren't the best thing in the world, and sure prescribed more than necessary but people are SICK. SICK. they don't take anti depressants for fun. How dare you compare those two things.

    • @memocordob18
      @memocordob18 11 років тому

      Lol. Science? Please send show me the facts, where the data? The U.S. government put masks on monkeys feeding them marijuana smoke, but NO oxygen. Of course they lost brain cells, they weren't getting oxygen. Please tell me how many people have died from smoking weed? None, ever in the history of humanity. Anyway, I'm not here to argue with you about drugs, I still think you're awesome :p

    • @memocordob18
      @memocordob18 11 років тому

      Apn9a Alcohol can kill and destroys lives, the most dangerous thing about weed is the fact that it's illegal. And just saying, I used to be depressed, and anti-depressants made me even worse, they didn't help. ADHD and OCD are made up diseases, everyone has a lack of attention, but not everyone takes responsibility over their own lives you know. I am no longer depressed because I have friends and family that love me, and I have learned to love myself. I've honestly never met anyone who has gotten out of a depression through drugs, because they have to do it themselves, and thats the scary part. Anywho, please don't think I'm a crazy druggie when I'm not, je travaille beaucoup et j'étudie aussi tant. Do moree french videos pleaseee

    • @Antastesia
      @Antastesia  11 років тому +3

      ocd a made up disease? interesting. well I won't even reply or discuss with you since you apparently know so much about science and medicine that you can decide which disease is real or not and so easily pretend that all the scientific facts about marijuana don't exist. I'm not thinking anything else than you're in complete denial and mixing topics so that it creates a confusion you hope I'd fall into.
