Thank you and well done. As a neophyte who has come to leathercrafting very late in life, I am most impressed with the skills continued in your toolbox. Never change the way you present and do the work and if you err or forget something during the process, admit, correct it and carry on. I am grateful for the number of free patterns and for your permission to make and sell them. Again, well done. May all that is good in this world find your front door.
You're awesome for providing us less experienced leather crafters some free PDFs and tutorials to help us learn and build confidence before we go out and buy patterns we may not be ready for yet. Thank you!!
Leatherworker for 5 years. In a temporary housing situation with no workshop and all tools and leather packed up. I’m watching this as therapy living vicariously through you. Lol
I did add a Sam Browne stud one inch below with three holes in the closure strap. This is my every day carry for tools in the I.T. world. Fantastic bag that pulls lots of positive compliments. I used burr rivets and 6 oz. pebbled dark brown chrome tanned leather. Fantastic pattern! Highly recommend! Great video that even an old Aggie ('93) like me can follow... Thanks so much!
Just finished this today! As my first big leather project, it was just the thing I needed to jump-start my interest in leathercrafting. Thank you for the tutorial!
Very nice work. Both the leather work and the video. I am originally from Pittsburgh so your accent is refreshing. I am awaiting my snap press from the Buckle Guy so I can begin this project. Thanks for the templates and the video. UPDATE!!! Went to my first garage sale with my leather projects on Saturday, April16th. 2022. Holsters, bags, wallets, keychains and so on. This bag is the first thing that sold! Perfect. Making more. Thanks again. Dan from "THREE HORSE LEATHER".
Once again you have provided me with a project for this weekend. Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing your craft & PDFs. Perfect for a distraction from all that is happening in the world today. Stay safe. Gratitude & thanks.
Yesterday I made a comment about holding pieces together with a device. I also wanted to say something about sewing long runs. What I learned from Desilpunkro is to double up the thread instead of knoting it at the end and you could just feed it out as needed when needed.
Just made this and both the pattern and tutorial were super clear and all went smoothly. It gave me a great excuse to finally use my side of chrome tanned leather. Thanks!
I just cut the first panel out this evening. Got the leather from Acadia. Nice stuff. Really like your work, vids and patterns. Learning a lot. Thank you
If you use your hole punch on the ends, where you feed the strap for the d ring, it will keep stretch out from happening. If you use use a very thin wire and “sew” every 10 holes it will make stitching alignment easier
I used to think that was the way to go, but after using the button stud version, it’s kind of a pain for thinner leather. I’ve found making a snugger fit with the loop to be sufficient for creating enough friction to keep lid closed. I also use designs where I make the strap thicker. It’s especially nice when you frequently open and close the lid.
These are no longer free to down load? The site says too many redirects to print A4.. Really frustrating. Some small card holders print out. Anything bigger it’s not allowing ? Any ideas why it won’t? Bugga Australian fan
Thanks for the great tutorial. When you pre-punch the front, back and gusset with the diamond chisels, aren't the diamonds pointing in opposite directions when the front is placed against the gusset for example?
The stitching line definitely looks better when you punch on the outer and flesh sides so your angles match. I tested this on some test pieces of scrap. It’s subtle, but noticeable.
When assembling the pattern, there is NO need to cut the excess off of BOTH parts and then attach both of them together with scrap paper. Just leave the excess on one part and glue the part that was trimmed to the excess.
Why have 2 separate pieces for the lid and back panel? Why not just cut it from one piece? Have the back panel rise high enough to flip over the front to be the lid as well. Seems a bit more time consuming to cut 2 pieces only to join them again with stitches, just cut it as one piece. 2 birds, 1 stone.
Makesupply Leather appreciate the info been doing leather work for about five years never used oil tan and was getting ready to order a side of the Kodiak to make some rustic bags for some friends supposedly holds up good in the weather.
Wouldn't it be easier (at8:25) to cut just one part at the dotted line, and glue it to the overlapping paper of the other? IMO - less place for imperfections. BTW - I cut the design couble of months ago... but it's been sitting and waiting for sewing ever since. So the time has come and I'm doing it now. :)

Thank you, for being thorough.
Thank you for the good looking satchel.
Thank you, mostly for sharing your craft with the world.
Great work Justin. You are always so focused on getting the little details correct. You are a gifted teacher. Well done!

Awesome congrats! Been thinking of making another one myself.
huge thanks, started leathercrafting a few months ago, this looks like an awesome project.
Really grateful to you for sharing your files. I would like to ask you one day to share a list of all tools needed. Thank you so much

Nobody is yelling, anyway f-em if they can't take a teachers way of how you say a certain word. Thank you for taking the time to teach.

One of the best instructional video series and so calm and easy to follow. Thank you.
Well done! Thanks for sharing!

Many thanks for such a great video - the free pattern was such an added bonus to make a start in this fantastic hobby - Many thanks for sharing
Just finished ! What a great pattern. Looking forward to picking up some acrylic patterns for it.
good luck master👏👏👏

I actually tack the pieces together with needle & thread. Every 10-12 stitches. Tip from welding...👍
Cheers big guy, very generous of you. Many thanks
Thanks for all you do.
Awesome, man, thank you very much for 1 hour guide.
Cool bag. You might want to add a Sam Browne stud to keep that closure closed. Just a thought. Cheers.

Exactly what I did when I made this satchel 👌
Thank you for taking the time to share so much detailed information, it’s much appreciated!
Guys you are awesome! Love your videos! Clean work 😁
this is a great pattern. very well laid out and easy to understand.
Excellent work
Great work Justin, as usual :)
Nice template, looking forward to trying it out! Thanks for sharing.
Did the “build along” with you! Turned out very nice. Thank you!
That was great! a nice simple pattern , end results a great looking bag. I think I have some leather around here somewhere..
Such an awesome pattern! What are final dimensions?
Great work
This us so nice thank you. Question on mechanics, why do you make the lid and back panel two pieces?
Good vidio and good teaching 👍
You do nice work, and the free templates are much appreciated.
Great explanation thank you for sharing!! I will give it thumbs up, what leather thickness are you using?
Great job! Love the bag and that beautiful leather. I'm going to have to get some crazy horse leather. Your hair is looking pretty long too. 👍🏻
thank you for the pattern just started
i love this kind of bags, i made my first with this model, but i stitch in a different way
great job!
Thank you once again
That's very wonderful ! Can I have a drawing please?
Awesome sir 👍 can't wait to make one . Thank you for sharing .
terimakasih atas ilmu dan pattern nya., terimakasih sudah menginspirasi.
saya penggemar anda dan saya berasal dari indonesia.
ty for share ... salutes
Hola gracias por compartir excelente para iniciar en cuero en proyectos mas grandes
Good job!
Justin - I noticed you did not edge paint the shoulder strap. Would you normally do this? Or not? Thanks...

Yes it will. The stitches will look the same on either side too (zig-zag) which is good for display.
The stitching line definitely looks better when you punch on the outer and flesh sides so your angles match. I tested this on some test pieces of scrap. It’s subtle, but noticeable.
Thanks
Wow it's great👏👏💪
We are enjoying your teaching videos. Is there a tool set/kit that you would recommend for starting leatherwork?
I bought my first set of tools on wish then I went to tandy and upgraded them
amazing!!🤩

너무 너무 멋있고 영상 감사합니다.
Thanks!
Can you fit a Macbook Pro in this bag?
Nice, but the lid needs to be fastened with a buckle or something. It looks like it will pop open if you stare at it.
Do you not have to edge bevel oil tan? I have only worked in veg tan. Thanks for the vid.
You usually dont if you are painting the edge. The paint after a few passes will build up to form a sort of bevel.
Makesupply Leather appreciate the info been doing leather work for about five years never used oil tan and was getting ready to order a side of the Kodiak to make some rustic bags for some friends supposedly holds up good in the weather.
where to find instruction paper for leather?
Any chance you remember that leather that you used? Your link is broken now
Why do you mark the holes if you're using a chisel anyway? It seems like a lot of extra work for no extra benefit?
You mentioned a larger, full sized bag. What would you do to modify this pattern?
Probably a few things. Make it wider, a deeper gusset, and probably have to change the closure style.
Wouldn't it be easier (at8:25) to cut just one part at the dotted line, and glue it to the overlapping paper of the other? IMO - less place for imperfections.

Can I order one?
Hey could you possibly make one for me?
What is the minimum thickness for this bag?
Wie die Meer Schildröten farben.......Vielen Dank
Is the bag the size to carry letter size notebooks? Thank you
Its roughly 10" wide and 12.5" tall so yes that should fit.
Imagine work.. simple pattern and bag.. I have also good collection of best quality of leather at our Handicraft Villa in Jaipur, India.
do you do your own leather work?
as in, prepare the leather from the animal
Veg tan? Oil tan?
how many mm is the leather thickness????
What program do you use to make your digital templates?
Adobe Illustrator
👌🏻💥
