Been saving some of these later five-part (or, in this case, *nine* part) stories for years now. Listened to the other ones back in 2016-17 and they instantly became some of my favorite otr programs. Finally finishing off the 1955-56 era and it's amazing how fun and atmospheric these all are. "Cui Bono Matter," "Primrose Matter," and "Amy Bradshaw Matter" are a few of my favorites but I haven't a bad serial among the bunch. These are so good!
What great stories. From New York City to Los Angles, from Colorado to Mojave desert, from Africa to Haiti. But Johnny dollar he sure gets around, and tells us the whole story. Thank you again Michael these are great
Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful old radio programs. The only way they could be better is if the old commercials and other materials had not been edited out.
sapped …. not many folks know about a sap.. good tool but i read they went from breaking collar bones ect to cracked skulls 🫣so they did away with them as standard issue . seems there is always someone that will take things too far and not consider the damage they will cause🤷🏼♂️
@@roymillard5784He did get taken in. She just happens to arrive in NO and Quintana gets killed the same day? C'mon Johnny , stop looking at her tits😅😅Also, there was ANOTHER episode where a woman claimed she was stranded and needed help to get back to the States. He fell for that line too😅
Anyone notice how food and drink was fairly affordable to make a long-distance phone call a was a weeks pay. Now a days it is the opposite phone calls, which are practically free, and food and drinks break the bank. What a world🤔
cool, been listening these stories for years because once my apartment was plundered after we had to leave buildings because a pyromaniac had tried to set fire, so later an innvestigator from my insurance came to check it and he asked why I stayed out so long in my nightgown haha, believe it or not, but this was a nice gown and I lived near the palace of the queen where there was a coffee chamber music concert (it was sunday morning), he checked it indeed and I had not lied, got a generous claim amount.
she just blended in with all the other reffer addicts and lived a easy beach life 😎oh ….i heard she married a local and lived well … warm sunshine every day .. sounds good to me
I do not know. There is nothing in the logs I have for YTJD except the note i put up about 10 or 9 episodes. I find it unbelievable that 15 people voted thumbs down for this episode. I guess it was too long for some people
As soon as his " beautiful" wife arrived in NO I guessed she was a villain , in on it with her husband. Im half- way through, let's see if I'm correct [ half- right. But, as the story evolved i guessed she was in it with Quintana] The problem with film noir is the beautiful girl is ALWAYS The femme fatale. Dollar keeps forgetting this and falls for it every time!😅
The actor looks more like an architect to me. But once he puts on his fadorah, lights a cig, puts on his dark glasses and gum shoes, well, all that's left is his Heater!!!!!😮 yah!. Now he's the huntin dawg. Sniffing the trails. Reading the prints to run down the gunsile who shot the rich old husband!! Was it the wife, the boyfriend, the girlfriends boyfriend??. Cui bono!!? Who benefits!!!? Johnny, you're the man!! Stay lowwww😮 🫢👀
Agree, he doesn't look the part to me. The coif, the high cheekbones, full lips, narrow shoulders, smiling. He should have worn a fedora and a straight face at least the for publicity shots. His voice and expression fits beautifully, tho. So, radio it is.
The writers kind of overplayed Lola, with her somehow finding the correct boat to stowaway on in Barbados by herself. Is difficult because they have to write Johnny as dumber than he should be when that happened. The 9 part episode format works fine for me, wish they had done more of these
Yeah. Dollar really was stupid in this one. It was so obvious Lola killed Quintana and Everson was in on it too. Long drawn out storyline that was totally predictable
This was such a well-written and acted series. Thanks for sharing.

An exciting long storyline. Very captivating!
AWESOME EPISODE!!!!!!!! Thanks
This was fun, helped make cleaning the house painless
This one was DEEP!

Thanks love listening
Intriguing episode.
Excellent! Thank you for posting.
Good storyline was able to follow….
In all great show 😄👍
Great episode, nice twist ending.
I’m from New Orleans and people don’t have that kind of accent but I truly like this episode.
To be fair, they are trying - definitely an improvement over the last New Orleans episode
I grew up there (b.1950)
Accent is very distinct & is hard to replicate.
These actors try but no dice!
Thanks!
This is one of the longest storylines
The Longest YTJD they every made, Jeremy
This show should be rebooted
Really great story!
Imagine the brain damage Johnny must have suffered from being knocked unconscious all those times.
One episode when Johnny doesn't get sapped would be a great idea.
Don't ever listen to 'let George do It'. he gets hit so often, he goes to another dimension. All the old detectives must have had some brain damage

And an episode where he doesn't get taken in by a woman.

@roymillard5784-- Don't worry. They usually die or go to prison. 😅
Wow! Quite the plot. Riveting.

Wow.....just...wow!
Bob Bailey classic act as Mr Johnny
Dollar
What a fantastic twisted ending!!
What a story
What happen to. Connie,
she just blended in with all the other reffer addicts and lived a easy beach life 😎oh ….i heard she married a local and lived well … warm sunshine every day .. sounds good to me
That was a long and very good episode! I wish there were more 2h ones. Was it a special occasion thing or something Michael, if u know?

Hartford used to be the insurance capitol of the world. It’s unsafe and run down like most US cities. Sad.
Best Johnny Dollar of the bunch. But as they used to say, Bailey has a face for radio.

Don Diamond and Richard Crenna in the cast.
“Connie who?” “Connie Linguous.”
The writers kind of overplayed Lola, with her somehow finding the correct boat to stowaway on in Barbados by herself.

As I listened to this one, I was thinking the music should have been "Whatever Lola Wants (Lola Gets)"...
Yeah. Dollar really was stupid in this one. It was so obvious Lola killed Quintana and Everson was in on it too. Long drawn out storyline that was totally predictable
The female lead is unctuous and sweet enough to give a listener diabetes
USA.dollar..all..the.way
I hit cancel but would prefer to pay 12 dollars a month instead of thirty. Let me know
