Yea Instagram is definitely trying to become the middle man between brands and influencers, they're trying to get in that game too, putting it under the guise of mental health was wild tho smh

I've been listening to Esther's podcasts and I have to admit that I miss your voice, so here I am filling it in with your vlogs instead. Please make more collabs and vlogs. 🥰
here in brazil we don't have the likes on the posts for the past +2 years or so... they told that little mental health story but a lot of influencers think like you, freesia, and y'all are probably right... now people compare how many comments the post has. also, brazil was the first country to have fleets on twitter which is basically stories on twitter (sucks tho, it works a little bit different then instastories).
can you pls explain more about what you were saying about the likes on Instagram??? my dyslexic brain does not understand how advertising and back end metrics have anything to do with hiding likes lol
Likes were tied to the Instagram metric of engagement and of course, someone actually liking the content of your post. And like count had more power before the change to influence the IG algorithm regarding how much your content gets prioritized in your followers’ feeds. Previously when likes had more algorithm weight, if a creator or business (someone who uses their IG account as a stepping stone to monetize) knew their like count, then they’d have that metric to understand how much leverage or influence they have by posting specific content compared to other content. Strategically, you change your content styles to match what your followers like, so that they not only like more of your posts, but also so that your account gets pushed to the explore page to garner more followers. At a certain point of followers you’re considered an influencer and this makes you attractive for brand partnerships, etc., to make money through. So it’s about likes giving you the knowledge and empowerment you need to monetize your account faster. Without likes, it could arguably be harder to determine which posts your followers engage with better/prefer. I don’t think it is as I’m a creator account and there are other metrics to make up for likes at the moment, but I think what Freesia was getting at was if IG hides likes from all of us, we won’t have access to key monetizing knowledge. IG itself can then create sponsorship partnerships without us necessarily bringing them in for the platform and us getting a cut for being the direct partner instead of IG being the direct partner. Hope this helps and I def encourage anyone else to chime in with their perspective.
The rule from 19th century England is a nice, polite female does not talk about sexual feelings or sexual desires. She is very naughty if she says out loud that she enjoys how her body feels during sex and/or if she says she has strong sexual desires.
