    Very nice to know that some of these are still out there. Every time I find a model VW truck I purchase it for my shelf. Thanks for sharing this find with us, and keep up updated.

      They are still out there. Seems like these days the classifieds have more "wanted" ads for Volkswagens than "for sale" ads. Guys paying big money are scooping them up all over the country but you still hear of deals popping up all the time for very reasonable prices. Its kind of sad in some ways to see these Old Buses that 15-20 years ago weren't even given a second look by the masses turned into a status symbols and tax write offs these days.

      Single Cabs were the cheap Split Window for a lot of years but it seems that in the last 5 years or so the prices have caught up with the other Split Buses. If you keep your eye out though you may get lucky and score a deal. We had our 59 single cab given to us for free. You never know. Best of Luck to you and thanks for watching. JC.

    I'll take the Vanagon she had in the garage! Not quite the colours I was looking for, but it's an early T3, maybe air cooled. I'm hoping that your rescue truck is a VW. There is something poetic about having an old VW being rescued by a newer VW.

    • @Volkswear
      @Volkswear  5 років тому +1

      cidercik She had plans to sell the Vanagon to a Nephew. I've rescued a few VW's in my Vanagon but my main tow rig these days is a beat up old Duramax I bought from a Salvage Auction. JC.

    • @cidercik
      @cidercik 5 років тому

      Oh well, just as well. The delivery costs to the UK would be killer anyway....

    • @Volkswear
      @Volkswear  5 років тому

      Are Vanagons pretty hard to come by in the UK? I was under the impression that there were plenty of them to be had over there. I see a fair amount of people shipping Syncros Stateside from your part of the world. JC.

    • @cidercik
      @cidercik 5 років тому

      Vanagons were called Transporters here and many of them did not have side windows. The bays are much more popular in the UK, you see them more than T3s. The T3's are very popular in Germany. Would love an air cooled Vanagon but as I am thinking of moving to Scotland (to get away from the crazy brexiters) that a Syncro would be better. Show the Land Rover people how it's done!

    Sad story, me and two friends all of us 19 yrs old bought a 67 bus we where so excited had dreams and plans. We had it about a week n half. Drinking in the bus on rural country roads bad tires bad breaks. My buddy put into a ditch. We all cried and was depressed for over a month. Still miss that bus.

    • @jrand2631
      @jrand2631 5 років тому

      Yeah that's sad - don't drink and drive. I guess you guys learned the hard way.
      Ditched my souped up VW 1600 TL, not because of drinking, but because bad weather and bad tires. As it turns out, worn out summer tires do a terrible job getting a grip in the snow. lol

    • @Volkswear
      @Volkswear  5 років тому

      Yikes. Sounds like you were lucky to walk away from that one. Hopefully lesson learned. JC.

    Did you get any back story on that single cab? It's awfully rusty for being in Arizona...bet it spent a lot of its life elsewhere.
    Looks like the lady also had a early Vanagon tin top in her garage. Wouldn't mind having one of those!

    • @Volkswear
      @Volkswear  5 років тому

      Chris Freemesser It originally was an East Coast Bus. They pulled it out of a field in 1999 and it has been following them around ever since. Luckily they never tore into the body and it is pretty much exactly the way it was when they got it in 1999. JC.

      soap Body will be mostly left as is. Probably reinforce the hinges on the gates and plug a couple holes in the front floor. Kyle likes stuff low so it will get slammed, stored inside out of the weather and enjoyed on nice sunny days around Twin Falls Idaho. JC.
