Have you tried any of these tools?
Yes I have a locally made ham I bought a while ago though it’s not cushy and I’ve been eyeing the bias thing for a while now…I think this is a sign to get one 😀
ah a DIY tailor's ham is so clever. You can really customise it to your liking. The binding foot has alot of potential honestly, so go for it if you can ^.-
If you DIY your tailor's ham, use sawdust, not wadding, for stuffing so it absorbs steam and moisture.
I'm here for anything that makes my life easy
Same!!! Life is hard enough on its own
😅it’s the laugh when the friction pen line disappears 😂
😂 I could not believe my eyes
i don't have any of these things but they've all been on my radar and wishlist for years
The friction pens are so handy....I love them! I also have a tailors ham and sleeve log...they come in handy for curves, sleeve heads and sleeve hems. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Ah I see. You have the good stuff 😉 I’m late to the party but I’m glad I got these tools now
lock the bias maker with a screw into the machine. It should come with a screw
It's good ideas. I tooks a drop of your knowledge and you have more knowledge Ineed.I epticiate your kindness and sweet smile. Love you form Colombo in Sri Lankan. I'm Ramani. Bye ❤❤❤❤
I have the tailors ham and sleeve. I think I like my sleeve better than the new one you just acquired, as it is slimmer. They are old, as am I. I use them both a lot.
lol it better evaporate lol sis anything to make sewing fast and easy! I have the seam guide, tailors ham but I need to get the sleeve ham it’s the laugh for me 😂don’t make 2024 any harder 😂
I use a magnetic seam guide all of the time!
The tailors ham and roll set I have it stuffed with sawdust to help steam set the press. It’s by Dritz.
Oh wow, filled with sawdust! That is very clever
I have the red and black checked set and think they’re filled with sawdust too because they’re pretty heavy and firm and I use them often
It’s the scream omo na jazz 😂😂😂😂
I swear the pikin English jumped out strong when I was filming this video
I worked in a sewing manufacturing facility postgrad as a designer, and we most definitely used the binders. We had a storage room full of all the various sizes and methods to attach to industrial sewing machines. They worked very well, and I wish I had these for my regular home sewing machine.
That is awesome!
I think the small screws is how I attach them to the machine to prevent the binder foot from moving?
Correct. You screw it into the machine.@@KimDave
aha that's why it was moving! Silly me 😅
@@KimDave youtube - how to install a bias binder tool. Look for your type tool
@KimDave I used duct tape or painters tape to secure the binder down on the metal plate when I was in a hurry or had to use the same machine for different operations. Particularly when I worked in the _Product Development Lab._ For the floor operators we just screwed down the binders to the plate.
PRO TIP: practice alot with the binder on cheap bias tape or ribbon. If you have the patience to seam rip and reroll tape to save on cost for practicing.
You must angle the feed of the binder in the exact correct position so the needle can catch the top and bottom of the folded edges. I used the tip of aseam ripper or a metal tool like dull scissors to help control the tape when coming around rounded edges. Corners are the most difficult; an elderly women at the factory taught me a great tip on how to do corners. You pause, rotate the corner, use metal tool to fold bias/ribbon, then resume stitching.
Late to the party but to note of the frixion pens: they return in freezing temps! a friend got their notes messed up forgetting a notebook in their car overnight in -15C 😅 so make sure you don't use it on light colors or visible placements!
The pigin no get part 2 😂I think it needs to be screwed but is there a place to screw it to on your juki
I need this particular bias tool not the regular one
I love the pens. I use them all the time. Can you tell me what iron you are using?
I got some of those pens earlier this year, it's amazinggggggggg. I've been using them lately
I don’t know why I haven’t heard about them until now 🙈
I have been sewing for 10 years and didn't know about the heat pen. I really was out here making my life unnecessarily harder 😭😭😭
ah I'm not alone 😂
😂about ironing breast caps ive also been making hips of fabric tuck them inside and iron 😂
You can refer to this video on how to attach the binder. It looks like you might need this setup as the binder will need a screw. I have other ways of attaching mine. But, anyway, here is the name of the video, " Embudo Para Ribetear En Maquina Recta Muy Facil/ Tips De Confeccion. Hope it will help.
try using steam if it'll remove the white lines of the friction pen
Ah I’ll try that 👌 thank you
I saw a review that the frixion pen marks reappear after fabric is washed, so check that as well
Checkout the pearl setting machine, it's amazing
Thanks for the tip!
17:25 i neeeed those pens🔥🤣
Everyone needs those pens 😂🤣
@@KimDave 🤣🤣🤣
There's a screw to keep the bias binding foot in place. Got mine on AliExpress
24:05 do let us know how it went after you screw the bias tool into the machine and also rate it.
I’ll definitely give the binder foot another try correctly and share my thoughts
There are better friction pens that leave nothing on the fabric.
I get them at Walmart.
You have to screw the bias tool on to the machine
Yeah I just figured that out thanks to a comment here 😂
I think your new sleeve ham is too wide.
The bias binding attachment supposed to screw into the plate of your machine , I use to work in a factory where the bias binding attachment screw into the plate of your sewing machine so that is why it is doing so much moving around as you sew you are not supposed to hold it as you sew you only supposed to be guiding your fabric into it.
Kim please a link to your phone stand I have been looking for one for overhead shoots
The friction pen disappears with heat, but it is better to use on the wrong side to avoid the white residue, especially if you don't want to wash the fabric afterwards. Don't push hard. It is not necessary and damages any fabric. If you ironed the line by accident, place the item in the freezer for a few minutes and the lines will come back! The pens come with a rubber-like end to be used to erase if writing or drawing on paper, cardboard, a.s.o. The erasing friction creates heat and heat makes the ink disappear.
Not the best tailor's hams, I've seen and had with better shapes.
Yaaayyy🎉🎉🎉
I work in a bookstore, and they are called write-erase pens, and when you write on paper, they are erased with silicone on the pen, actually using the heat created by that silicone.
Pilot frixion is the best!
Wow 🤩 learning something new today
I never thought of a hack about pens for fabrics 😅😅😅 i just used any pens, pencils, kids’color pencils hahahaha but the best for me to use is washable pens, they dnt stain, still for kids stuff hahahaha i just get whatever pens i can grab lol work easy not hard.
oh I've never heard of those! This is what I love about this community, learning new things every day ^.^
That bias binder works. We used to have a factory and used it. It's so hard to use the domestic machine version now. Industrial one is easy. Lol
Yeah this one is a bit fiddly to use honestly
The frixion pens are definitely handy…although some fabrics work better than others.
I worked at a sewing factory and ran 3 different binding machines. Love them!
The bias maker needs to be attached to the bed of your machine with a set screw.
I really like these review videos. It saves money to know what works and what doesn’t and you’re experience and knowledgeable and I trust your judgement and honesty. ❤️👍
I appreciate that! 🥰
The Naija in you really came out in this video..😅😅
I know right! Didn't even fully realise until I watched the clips back 😅😅
Som e of these are just tools we've used forever. They arent new or trends. A viral tool should be something not speicfically designed for that task.
I understand. For novice sewers or seamstresses who have not worked in _manufacturing_ or a _Fashion House_ some of these common tools can be very new or unheard of.
For me I never used binders until I worked in the factory and haven't used them since I came home. I also hadn't used the special pen till I worked in a costume shop. The reason some may have been listed viral is they are tools that the common home sewer would have never been introduced too.
They're new to somebody🤷🏾♀️
