Get "Sensitive Formula Saline" & rinse your eyes several times a day. Make sure you rinse your lashes, too ! Allergens stick to your eyeball & lashes.
Make sure you wash your hands first & don't touch the tip of the bottle. You want to keep germs from getting into saline !
When I flush my eyes, I put my head sideways over a sink, and flush from outer corner of eye down towards my nose. Then flip head to do the other one.

I have no idea what one does at the Met Gala. For us outsiders the point is the red carpet. Anything else would be gravy. Expensive gravy... I wonder if they do gift loot bags...
Small trick for dealing with the plasti dip - I suspect, because it's so shinny, you may need an underpaint with some acrylic primer (maybe after a brief sanding). The primer will basically give you some 'teeth' for the layers of paint to stick too.
If you want a shiny finish find some 'acrylic medium' (either glossy or matt). It goes on white and dries clear. The things you learn when you spent some of one's teenage years painting the eyes for my Mum's knock-off cabbage patch kid dolls that she'd sell on the craft sale markets. I have an odd collection for a skill-set...
