Mikaela Shiffrin was injured in a race. After rehab she began doing slow, technical training with coaching. This training event was filmed in Loveland, CO, if I recall correctly.
I wish I understood Swedish. Great video all the same. When I was on ski team, in the 70's, we did the same drills, on old 'pencil skis', as Shiffrin does. We called it patterning your technique. "What goes around, comes around."
From afar perfection is relative. We see a picture of athletic skill and control we envy and worship as perfection. Wrongful thinking. Inside the Coach/ athlete relationship both know the needs of the event are momentary reactions to conditions and nothing resembling perfection is appropriate to the task of having good times. Conditioned responses to events may not be pretty... look at Petra Vhlova who never allows image to interfere with athleticism.
You can see in her Javelins there are moments she can still refine. I do like the start where she skis into counter by steering her uphill ski under the raised downhill ski to create the Javelin with a petite up stem. I want to practice that move!
