This album is the best “extended rest” and “return to project” I have ever heard. They seriously picked up right where they left off....and maturely improved.
Walter fucking gets it. By far the most talented songwriter to come out of the "youth crew" era. Is there anything he cannot do? Dude respects his roots but keeps moving forward.
In our time Oh, you never know for sure While you follow the people Who really got nothing on you Why do they make you feel small? I can only echo other posts about our beloved quicksand's return...never say never again, we have waited over 20 years for these guys to find musical harmony together again and they have delivered. Thank you, Walter/Alan/Tom/Sergio...see you in phoenix!
I first saw Quicksand in 1990 at The Anthrax in CT and they had 4 or 5 songs to play. They rocked it regardless and it was fun. Saw them later that year at Bunratty's in Boston with many more songs in the set, some that I never heard again and some that ended up on the Slip LP. They were great that day. I remember Walter had a XXXL Stussy shirt on that was falling off of him and John Porcelly was onstage taking photos with a 35 mm. Capone still had hair too. All these years later, it's great to hear new music from them. Low and behold...it still rocks. Salute fellas. Keep it coming.
Crazy to think this hypnotical riff is "just" E-C-D / C-E-D and no one found it before! This is pure genius: well done guys! No doubt to say Interiors was the best 2017 album... and maybe will still stay the best one on 2018!
I thought the REV25 reunion was the last I would hear of these guys together. So glad I was wrong!!! This song has everything that made them one of those bands to shape so many that followed... it has grit, melody, acrobatic tempo shifts, and arguably one of the best rhythm sections in rock. 2017 doesn't suck after all - thanks to Quicksand!!! Thanks for making music great again!
@Christopher Richter You weren't kidding, they sound really good. Must be a small band since they have such little listens. What a shame bands like this go unnoticed. Shame on our music industry!
I disagree with Chris. They still kept the same amount and vocal styling it's just more melodic, god forbid. Lol. I almost feel like this is a band that never did drugs until this album. They mellowed tf out. It's still a heavy album just more trippy and I love it.
omfg..the wait has finally ended... So glad to hear a bad ass band return after so long..never thought I'd hear another tune. Glad to see I wasn't the only one jammin this band damn near every day for the last 20 sum years..
The only thing this sounds like is classic quicksand. I miss you guys so much. I saw you back in 95 with deftones, it was one of my fav shows. I cant wait to get your new album.
my fave band. this album is different than their other two albums, but that's what good music is all about, right? It's about not making the same stuff over and over again. I love this album.
Soul Goose Bumps as I type, finally a dream comes true, more Quicksand for the youth to never cease. Thank you from the bottom of my hungry of real music heart guys!!! Love this track
Folks need to go back and listen to Manic Compression if they think this sounds like the Deftones and not the other way around. Love them both (Deftones are at their best when they go melodic and spacey like Quicksand IMHO) but there is a definite order of succession. Deftones evolved into what they are now, which is were Quicksand left off before Deftones existed. Through tragedy Deftones brought in Sergio (Quicksand bassist) to fill that position in that band. Just keep that in mind. And again, go listen to Manic Compression as proof of concept (even if Slip + S/T is my preference as far as Quicksand albums.)
+isthiswill. Huh? Wtf correlation and parallel are you even trying to make? ‘Deftones’ are a very eclectic band that is known to be expansive as time simply progresses. They’ve always been THAT distinctive yet oddly accessible (they’ve seemed to completely hone this formula) since the early-2000’s. Very contrastive bands. While Sergio Vega’s membership in that band will inevitably affect what he does thereafter, ‘Quicksand’ is also distinctively who’ve they’ve always were - they are the type of band who will create as they do so please. Few restrictions apply.
I agree with much of this, but you are skipping the band Far, who the Deftones leaned more towards in their earliest inceptions, than any of the first few Quicksand records or 7". We are discussing Post HC vs. Deftones and I am not sure why even. Also, there is a band called Hum, from Illinois, who influenced the Deftones more than a band like Quicksand has. Maybe if we are discussing modern Post HC bands like say Deafhaven, Touche Amore, than yes I would say Quicksand influenced those bands more than the Deftones. Deftones is a very separate entity from the ashes of any Post HC bands IMO.
So good to see you guys alive and killing it again. If it weren't for SLIP I wouldn't be who I was today. Thanks for that and good luck taking over the world!
I vaguely remember hearing Thorn in My Side on the radio when I was a kid, but only really discovered the band a few years after they called it quits. So I'm pretty fucking excited to hear this album.
Prog metal and hardcore metal from NYC and grunge rock and other alternative metal bands are coming back to life and making rock great again. Thank God. O my god tired of listening to hop hop and imagine dragons for new music when hard rock was being
holy shit i just discovered this! sounds like Quicksand, which is fantastic. CANNOT wait for the album, its been a long time.. now how about another Handsome album as well? hehe
True, but the Deftones love of Quicksand goes back further than that. Sergio didn't become their bassist until Chi Cheng was crippled in a car accident. Chino has often said that Quicksand is one of his favorite bands, in fact, the reason that Quicksand got together and recorded the unreleased material in the late 90s is that the Deftones convinced them to re-form and tour with them.
The last great new rock band I ever heard. Saw them live at Bogart's in Cincinnati Ohio and thought they would be huge. Unfortunately they were overshadowed by some of the greats at the time and radio was too lame to acknowledge them. We got some real sh*t after. I'll just say it . . . bands like Live, Bush, Green Day, Limp Bizkit and so many more got airplay and still do. Such a shame. Quicksand should have had an honest career. I love their first record. Awesome that they are back!
This was my fist quicksand song too. I heard it a few years ago after I found out the bass player for Deftones had a side band. I really like it :) How about you?

Immediately fell in love with it, I learned so much from it, and the subsequent album/singles/bsides/etc... and as a singer, Walter, you are THE MAN!!! As brilliant as this new album is, there is something about it that annoys the shit out of me, as it did when i heard Courtney Love's "HOLE" second album. Walter, why are you "dropping off down" every high note? It's not like I expect screams, because everything about this new album is BRILLIANT... I just wonder why you don't just hit the high note for half a second, rather than dropping it down slowly like you are now? It seems very strange. Because you have so much power. I love your music. always have, so don't get me wrong. And if you read this, please don't take it personally.... I love what you guys do, always will. And it was really nice to shake your hand when you came to Sydney, Australia. Thank you.

Very reminiscent of Hum, I dig it 👍

Imagine if a good friend came back from the dead. That's how I feel.
@Christopher Richter Quicksand + Hum = YES PLEASE.
As a huge Quicksand fan, this new stuff was hugely disappointing and very boring.
@Christopher Richter You weren't kidding, they sound really good. Must be a small band since they have such little listens. What a shame bands like this go unnoticed. Shame on our music industry!
Absolutely agreed
I'm with you, Chris.
And I only just found out.
I disagree with Chris. They still kept the same amount and vocal styling it's just more melodic, god forbid. Lol. I almost feel like this is a band that never did drugs until this album. They mellowed tf out. It's still a heavy album just more trippy and I love it.
Quicksand was one of those bands I thought I'd never get to hear new music from. I'm oh so glad I was wrong.
Just found this phenomenal band 4 months ago by way of Slip. Great to hear a new track, from a very underrated band IMHO!
Oh hell to the yes! My 90s teenage angst is ready for this.
True, my friend... what a great band!
Deftones and quicksand are two different types of bands, stop trying to compare the two and just enjoy the music.
deftones and quicksand are way different
@@djrubyjay9780 Lol how do comparisons make you thoughtless?
omfg..the wait has finally ended...
So glad to hear a bad ass band return after so long..never thought I'd hear another tune. Glad to see I wasn't the only one jammin this band damn near every day for the last 20 sum years..
Slip is still the best record ever recorded. Gold record winning engineer here.
You don't say? Congrats!
god... their music just never ages. slip is just as raw as it ever was, and i just found this, and...holy fucking shit this is good.
So glad they took there time making this album. Really underrated band.
The only thing this sounds like is classic quicksand. I miss you guys so much. I saw you back in 95 with deftones, it was one of my fav shows. I cant wait to get your new album.
It really doesn't it's boring as hell compared to Slip and Manic.
Easily one of the best bands from the 90s who are still killing it in 2023
my fave band. this album is different than their other two albums, but that's what good music is all about, right? It's about not making the same stuff over and over again. I love this album.
I love it!! Quicksand is back!!
A dream just came true - Quicksand came back.... There is hope for the world after all.....
I am so happy right now. The world is still a good place!
I've waited 22 years for Quicksand to release a new album...so stoked!
That riff is so damn crunchy! I've been waiting over 20 years for this album, beyond stoked!
Soul Goose Bumps as I type, finally a dream comes true, more Quicksand for the youth to never cease.
Thank you from the bottom of my hungry of real music heart guys!!! Love this track
Thank you, Quicksand, for this masterpiece. And thank you for being back.
One of my favourite alt. metal bands EVER! Since early 90s... what a time!

The new stuff is very lack luster compared to Slip and Manic. I was psyched as hell for new Quicksand but this new album is really boring.

A new quicksand album????
There really is a god!
...until you listen to it. It's sub-par compared to Slip and Manic and really dull.

About freaking time!!! Can't wait for this to come out. One of the most underrated bands from the 90's
Feels good, man. I've been waiting so long. Scratches the itch Rival Schools left.
Definitely that rival schools vibe
greg3d4u nah. The vibe is Quicksand af. I meant that as much as I loved Rival Schools, it didn't hit heavy like a ton of bricks. This does.
Colquitt Brett rival schools is good but never spoke to me like quicksand and GB. but yes it has some quicksand too.
greg3d4u same buddy. Nothing Rival Schools did changed my life like Landmine Spring did. I loved it, but I always held hope for new Quicksand.
Brett
Yes please. Can't wait for the US tour. Hope that Tom gets it together, although the power trio show I saw in Boston last year was amazing.
Phenomenal sound architecture. That producer has an amazing understanding of how all instruments, should sound.
Reminds me quite a bit of later Quicksand/early Rival Schools. Loving this. Looking forward to the new record!
Such a satisfying and unpretentious song, I can't stop listening
I like, hopefully I can make it to their show in DC next month.
and just like i would expect from walter and co. ..... the hairs on my arm are standing up. genius. epic. love it!
This video is gorgeous. So well done.
I vaguely remember hearing Thorn in My Side on the radio when I was a kid, but only really discovered the band a few years after they called it quits. So I'm pretty fucking excited to hear this album.
This vibe is badass💙
just found this band, theyve got an old school 90's that really rare now, love it!
yes! new Quicksand music - love it.
Awesome track, glad to hear new Quicksand.
This sounds gorgeous
Yes!...thank you and more please!
This is awesome!
great song. glad they're back
the main riff is literally the inverse of the main riff of cave in's song dark driving. fucking love it. this will be a standout of 2017 for me.
It is also similar to a riff in the beginning of Unfamiliar by Oceansize
Holy shit this song is tight!!! Going to see them in NYC next month and I get to hear new songs?!!! Hell yeah!! Peach vinyl on Pre-order
Boring as hell compared to Slip and the other stuff. Real disappointing.
I am definitely looking forward to November 10th.
Michael Weaver Seeing them on 9/22 in Philly.
Wow! This song is so great! That bass sound is sick and the production... Seems like it's going to be a great return!
THANKS GOD! I LOVE QUICKSAND, MAYBE I'M THE ONLY GUY IN MY CITY THAT LIKES QUICKSAND HEUHEHE :D
It might be the same for me because of where I live.
Yes
dunno how i was sleepin on this band but so glad I found them now
New music from Quicksand? Maybe things are going to be okay after all.
As a huge Quicksand fan the new stuff was an epic disappointment.
Aí muito foda a música rapá show!
This is the kind of brilliant mature progression I would expect from Quicksand. Amazing!
I can't get this song out of my head.
This is bloody fantastic!
Start to finish....just a fantastic album that easily rivals both 'Slip' and 'Manic Compression'.
this captures the spirit of..hm...old post hardcore :c miss u quicksand, slip and manic were huge for me, i can die now
quicksand,hum,helmet,swervedriver & rein sanction
So good, i have discovered that band lately...Very interesting stuff, love it!
Freakin' great, i'm so glad they're back.
Quiksand will be in ATL on Tuesday Sept. 19. At the Masquerade.
Please come to Ohio!!
bad ass...I had no idea Quicksand had new stuff ...sick
I have waited so long for this.
Sounds a bit later sounding era Deftones-ish...I get why, but I'm glad they're back.
You have it backwards; later Deftones sounds Quicksand-ish.
Jesus They do share the same bassist now so...
This song. That bridge.
I just heard the band Quicksand being mentioned on the Sick and Wrong Podcast, Episode 603. This is some good stuff. I will investigate further.
The 30 dweebs that "disliked" this song need some serious hugs.
Hugs from me even back in the 90s before tool turned prog and quicksand broke up snd yeassr latrr trurned prog themselves.

holy shit i just discovered this! sounds like Quicksand, which is fantastic. CANNOT wait for the album, its been a long time.. now how about another Handsome album as well? hehe
xjaskix handsome album would be awesome!!!
" Sounds like Quicksand "? I'm confused.
xjaskix wow man...I thought I was the only person who knew of Handsome! Their album and Quicksands' Slip spent alot of time in my car stereo! Peace...
I saw quicksand bad ass love there sound and own style
Quicksand has transformed into Deftones and I'm not upset about it.
Deftones always kind of wanted to be Quicksand anyway, so it makes sense.
christco120 well Sergio the bassist is in both bands. Or could be was, idk if he's on bass here
Yeah he is. I'm not mad about it at all. Think this sounds incredible. This is how I always wanted them to sound production wise.

I think it has a lot to do with the kinda gear Sergio uses and ideas he has brought back. Def has those deep tones. Wondering what they are tuned to?
Nice song and addicted to me
Man, what a great song....
gather round kids of the new generation... put on headphones... crank to 11... this is what's called music and talent! 🤘🤓🤘
Still played Phx. as a three piece and sounded amazing!
Pre-ordered. Remix and remaster Manic Compression and do a vinyl release please!
The video screams Shock of the Lighting from Oasis, I love it.
Wow,looking forward to this ! Cool song
