Sri Jayaram Sataluri sir, this chamber concert is from the residence of Sri RT Chari at Poes Garden and is over two decades old. I think it is one of the better ones of the duo. Thanks for uploading. I only had this in cassette form! (more info here: timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/chennai/digitally-archived-carnatic-recitals-of-yore-live-forever/articleshow/62125991.cms) I attended this concert with my grandfather Sri KS Mahadevan in person. I remembe not being able ot get the Natakapriya out of my mind for many days afterwards. I had the cassette which Sri Chari gave us later but lost it years later. If I am correct, I believe the Bros learned Lalgudi Mama's thillana from Sri LGJ himself and not from Voleti Garu. The selection of kritis in this concert was always a novelty to me, a diverse offering of composers and rarely heard ragas with the usual emphasis on Thyagraja.
Thanks for sharing your reminiscences of this concert, Mahesh Ram sir. I agree with your assessment that this is one of the better concerts of the duo. I grew up listening to their music and have always cherished their renditions of rare Thyagaraja krithis. The Natakapriya is one of their jewels and I have heard them render it at the Sri Ranganatha Temple, Pomona, NY in 2009. Needless to say, it was fabulous. My mom loves their version of Lavanya Rama which I firmly believe is another jewel from their repertoire. In this version, the swaraprastara is simply spellbinding. Do you know who are the accompaniments for this concert? Mridangam sounds like a mixture of Palghat Raghu sir and Karaikudi Mani sir. Violin is very good too.
@@JayramSataluri I'm relatively sure that the violin was late Vidwan Sri Peri Sri Ramamurthy. Mridangam I think (but not sure?) was Sri Mannargudi Eswaran but I'm not sure...
