- When we were in Vegas back in April 2018, we did a side-trip to the Grand Canyon and took the enjoyable long drive. It took us about 7-8 hours to reach our hotel because we had wonderful stops along the way. So we are sharing this short video with you now as your guide in case you plan to do the same thing in the future, near or far. And oh, what made this drive even more enjoyable was the yellow Mustang that we hired just for this occasion. Wasn’t that exciting? 😆

Oh, you gotta have an overnight stay to be able to do this roadtrip and visit the grand canyon... cant do it in a day there and back. Unless you are prepared to start ur drive really early in the morn and drive back v late at night. I suggest take an overnight stay so you enjoy it even more.. wish we’re goin to back vegas. Now im jealous 😩 enjoy ur vegas time...

It was about 7-8 hours... we picked up car hire around 11am so we started driving by midday. We arrived at the hotel about 9pm. We had a nice steady drive to enjoy the scenery. Then 9am the following day we drove to the grand canyon... there for 4 hours... then drove to lake havasu for the london bridge.... and then back to vegas.

Hi Anna! My wife and I are planning to drive from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon West which I think is about 130 miles that should be taking 2 and a half hour or so. Could you please advise if it is safe to drive down to Grand Canyon and come back to Vegas in a day. Is there any caveat or something I should be cautious about. Thank you.
Hi Sid. Yes you can do a day trip but pls bear in mind that the West Rim is more commercial and expensive because it is private. The state park is the South Rim and is the more touristy area. The park offers buses to roam about. But to make the most of it you would have to stay for the night. Hope this helps :)
