We're so lucky that cats like Barney Kessel and Joe Pass made these kind of videos for us mere mortals. They really help unlock that wonderful style of Jazz guitar and make it feel attainable.
Everybody I know loved and admired Barney, without any unkind word spoken .i spent many an afternoon looking at beautiful guitars up on the hill in his shop in Hollywood
Tip for anyone trying to play the Fm11/C (sub. for Bb7) @ 12:26, try fingering the C and F with the middle (doublestop), semi-barre with the index across four strings from the G# to the high F, then the D# with the ring and G with the pinky.
There is a playlist on our page for each series as well as a compilation of practice tracks from each video. Enjoy!

You didn’t know Jazz is a niche genre? Jazz guitar even more so.
These are the best lessons I have ever seen and heard.
Barney was a great teacher as well as a great player.

One dislike? Who's the clueless stiff?
The one guy that wanted tab instead of standard notation.
