  • Judge Josh Arieh is taking on a case that Doug Polk once called “one of the most massive scams in poker history” - the infamous 2010 Durrrr Challenge between Tom Dwan and Jungleman. Was the match ever officially settled? Does David “Viffer” Peat owe Jungle for his side bet on the challenge? What about his crossbook bet?
The audio originates from a public Twitter Spaces conversation that took place in May of 2023. It has been heavily edited for time and clarity, but the general discussion has not been manipulated in any serious way. I like Viffer, but he's just wrong on this. He admits it himself.
If anyone out there owes Viffer money, they have a great excuse not to pay him now.

The S&P was at 1,185 in Oct 2010. Today it’s at 4,300. Consider the fact that if Jungle simply put that $250K into an S&P index fund it would be worth $900K today. Viffer is a scumbag.

And then right after Jungleman got off the call Josh said that he didn't think Durrr owes Jungleman the 1.3 million he's already paid so he definitely chose to leave that out of the video LMAO. At least give full context there. I think Viffer owes the crossbook which is 250k. I don't think he owes anything however on the the 65k for the bet. The match wasn't finished. Any sports bet if you bet on a game or a series of games and the players or team never finish the full duration then the whole bet gets voided, clearly the 65k in the spirit of the bet was done so assuming the full 50k hands got played.. Crossbook is a different animal though since crossbook is per hand.

If yoy are betting on a foofball match änd they are only playing för 20 minutes you will get your money back. This is the same scenario. I like Jungleman but this is wrong.

Viffer is a great example of a lack of bankroll management vs the law of large numbers

Would Jungle have actually paid had Durrrr played him the full 50,000 hands and beat him? Why didnt they escrow it with someone they both trusted? Id just move on as hard as that would be

Irrelevant question and no, you would not just move on from 250k, stop lying.

He's not gonna collect...so why let it even bother you any more? Seems like wasted energy
