I've watched several videos to decide how I want to make mine. Your style is my favorite by far. No gaps been stitches and the dc is a similar appearance to the tube shaped fabric we're used to seeing in store bought scrunchies. I'm going to give this a try. Thanks!
You are the best! I've seen so many other videos saying to work one or two increase rounds into a first round of single crochet, and I keep wondering if those people have super human eyesight in order to reliably locate the stitches with this kind of yarn. So glad you showed this pattern with a single round of double crochet. Makes so much more sense!! Thank you!!!!
@@HookedbyRobin yes your daughter is right . I need this scrunchies , I'll buy this velvet yarn and I'll make them . By the way we're waiting for other pretty ideas from you . Thanks 😙
I'm making a bunch of these using the same yarn for my DIL. This yarn is beautifully soft but actually it's about the best thing to make with this yarn. I made some beanies with this yarn for low income seniors & they had to be washed before I was able to donate them. Well the beanies more or less fell apart plus it took forever for them to dry in the dryer. So guess I'll be making a ton of scrunchies
Back in the day, I made a bunch of different ones for my girls and myself! I still have mine but we didn’t have this kind of yarn then. I love these! I will have to invest in some of that yarn! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Any yarn will work (the first one I initially made for my daughter was just bog standard acrylic yarn) but they do look particularly lovely in a chenille type yarn!
I must say I have scrunchie envy as well since my hair is far too fine and they just slide right out and don't hold it up at all! I will, however, make a few for my daughters who have thicker hair than I do 🙂
I have a couple at the moment but more will be coming over the next few months - amigurumi is my first love so definitely want to do more videos on my patterns! 🥰 ua-cam.com/play/PLP0pPGx0kI89wo37UkF-oPWtwmubjryvi.html
Yes absolutely! Just make sure it's super secure though (especially with this velvet chenille type yarn which is quite a slippery beast) as it will get a lot of stretching back and forth which is why I prefer to weave them in so the ends don't pop out 👍
@@Inamichan you could try using a slightly bigger hook? Are you a tight crocheter? You can always do treble crochets instead of double crochets if you want more height 😀 x
Thank you Margaret! Sounds so cute, unfortunately you can’t share photos on UA-cam but you can on my Facebook page; en-gb.facebook.com/HookedbyRobin 😃🧶

Yes, definitely Gracy!😃 It does make it so much easier, I hope you enjoyed making them.x
Making some as an appreciation gift for my daughter’s ballet instructor. Thank you!
Looks so much better than just a plain hairband.
I can not wait to try this. Thank you! Wonderful closeups.
A very good idea to make this scrunchies with velvet yarn . It's soft for hair 👍
My daughter loves them! The first one I made was using acrylic yarn but she prefers the velvet ones as she says it's less damaging to her hair 👍

They would also work for going around a bun. I love your cute bandaid.
🦄🌈 (they actually designed for children but I bought them for me because they are so adorable - even my husband wears them when he has a cut 😂 )
Love these! Will be a great project for young crocheters!
Absolutely Kelly!😀
I love scrunchies because my hair is curly and the soft fabric reduces breakage ☺️
Same, even tho I have straight hair :D
@@jamesclear8609 ditto. Straight hair, and the scrunchies let me have a ponytail without breaking my hair.
These are so cute! Great gifts. Thanks!!
Fab stocking stuffers too! (Is it too early to be thinking that way? 😂) x

I love this one as it's not the over wavy like some it's just perfect 🥰

Cute!!! Actually working with the velvet yarn now. I’ll add a few scrunchies to match!! Thank you!!!!
It's gorgeous yarn isn't it! 😍
What a great use for the velvet yarn it looks so soft and cute thank you Robin 😊Amanda xx💕
My daughter has taken ALL 3 of these, she loves them - says they are really soft in her hair and non damaging which is a bonus!
the velvet yarn looks so cozy and soft 😍!
Thank you for this great tutorial!!! I’ll be making lots of these for my grandson‘s elementary school teachers and office staff.

🥰🤗
Thank you sooo much 😘 came out very nicely
Thanks super easy
You are very welcome! They are super quick too 🙌
I have fine hair too, so my hair never stayed up in those things either. But all my girlfriends always looked so cool with them in their hair. 😎
🥰🤗
What a great and easy tutorial! Thank you so much, I’ve already made 3 😊

the fine hair struggle is real! LOL
I also hated scrunchies when I was a kid in the 90s, but I still loved this tutorial and am now tempted to give it a go. Thanks Robin!
A fellow anti-scrunchie friend! 😂 We are in the minority 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you so much! (And thank you for subscribing too! 🥰)
Ty Robin the only one I've ever seen as one row ❤
It's way easier if you're not having to worry about working back into stitches - you don't even need to concentrate! 😂
Wonderful! Thank you so SO much! :D

Thank you for sharing😊
what yarn did you use for this video? im in love with it!
Im gonna try this soon..
this is the only video i understand
Thank you !
Thank you for the tutorial. You mentioned that the yarn sheds. Does that mean that it leaves bits of the yarn in your hair?
Hi can I do a second row for the scrunchie
What kind of hair ties are these? I like how thick they are, they look sturdy!!
They are just cheap ones from our local Spar shop! No brand unfortunately x
Can we use any other yarns?
Hi! just 2 quick questions. how much yarn do you reckon you used in grams? and could you maybe tell us the amount of yarn used in each video?
Hello, i wanted to ask if i make some to sell. Can i just sell them, or do i need to tell people i got the pattern from you?
You can just sell them no problem! 😀
Much easier magic ring 🙂
Where do you get the hair tie at ?
💜💜💜💜
🥰🤗 Thank you Melanie!

Do you have any amigurumi patterns??

this was an amazing tutorial but i am not a very fast learner. is there a tutorial for absolute beginners
Can you crochet the first end in as you go ?
Yes absolutely! Just make sure it's super secure though (especially with this velvet chenille type yarn which is quite a slippery beast) as it will get a lot of stretching back and forth which is why I prefer to weave them in so the ends don't pop out 👍
Thank you 😊
mine isn't turning out as tall as yours. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong :(
Hmm. What yarn are you using?
Hooked by Robin I think the same as yours. Maybe it’s slightly less bulky.
@@Inamichan you could try using a slightly bigger hook? Are you a tight crocheter? You can always do treble crochets instead of double crochets if you want more height 😀 x
