Nice you went to all that set up. I just drilled a few pilot holes same with as the lower slot. Then took a hand file and connected the holes and squared the sides. Took 10 minutes. My secondary Mos in SF was light weapons 11B2S. I was before Delta Series came out. Just saving you all lots of not needed prep work.

You can measure out the 3 mm width of the mag release cut. Level the top of the mags to get the magazine release location, and mark it. Use a diamond cutting disk to cut the width at the of the front of the mag and cut towards the rear. Once cut use the same in the middle to cut a hole. Dremel out with a 1/8 inch round diamond bit to shape the rectangle and you'll have a working spare made. Whether it's a surplus magazine or afterarket it will work. You didn't need a hack saw if you don't have one.😂

I have an 8040F, and finding full size 40 S&W mags is nearly impossible. I have tried new aftermarket mags, which I believe were made by ProMag. It was exactly like your experience. Won't drop free, had to pull it out with my fingernails. The two times I've found new Beretta mags, the sellers were asking $60-$70 for them. I'll have to look into trying this with a 96 mag.

Had the same issues with the Cougar 8000 (Stoeger) which were unbranded by probably pro mag. Not only did they fail to drop free, it did not lock the slide after the last round. Furthermore, it could not hold over 8 rounds without rounds sliding around inside and the spring tension slipping

The solution to making the Programs to become drop free is to use a silicone tipped hammer and tap the backside of the mags near the base. Lightly tap them and check for fitment. I found a thread on a review which provided this as a solution. I did it. Tapped the backside as it goes towards the bottom it flares out. Tap it flush and it will drop free.

@@telisalami To know what they are called would be helpful. That way I can ask for them.
