First thing that I need before starting an anime journal : money.
Same I'm like so poor 😭😭 My Mom will never let me print things or write for me because my hand writing is flaming crap mixed with garbage,My moms hand writing is like the best.
Imma just go watch drawing tutorials colour the pictures in and watch tutorials on how to make a fancy font! I think I can do it because I literally wrote the hardest kanji for my first time writing Japanese 0.0

Tip: if u don't have washi tape you can always cut out a strip of paper, colour it in and then stick it on with a gluestick
Edit: u can also get masking tape and paint/colour over it
I do that lol, and it's pretty convenient if you want a certain design too, because you just need to decorate it however you like it :D

Insxmniac Raven i guess it depends on what you have at home but i didnt have any washi tape at home so i had to improvise and just thought i'd share a tip (kind of) :)
Finally! A guide that isn't " idk but heres all my stationary" This is such a under rated video, because it actually helps you figure out the layout and general vibe of the journal!

i want to start anime journaling, but my printer doesn’t have colored ink haha😅, HOWEVER, my big brain at 2 am decided to print pictures from the mangas (since they’re usually black and white) and then put color around them!
just an idea for those that have a printer but it doesn’t print color! ✨💖✨

Mostly my journal also in black and white, and sometime I don't put the pictures 😭, but I feel so happy only with my writing haha

Print in libraries! :)
I know this may sound like a very lame idea but if you have some copying paper or just thin paper sheets you can google the manga scan you want,put the paper over your phone and trace the image. You can color it too if you want. Trust me on this one,I grew up Southern.
Also if your parents are nosy you can get one of those cheap secret diaries with a small coded safe lock or a lock and key thingy.

Heyyyyoooo i was having trouble tagging you but regular pens and markers work i dont have the supplies but im waiting till christmas and speaciall holidays like birthdays to ask for the supplies my mom knows i love this stuff and is willing to get me them during speacial occasions ♥️♥️♥️ and if you dont i would see if you have any crayola supertip markers and or regular black pens those are some of my favorite things to use ⭐⭐ now for stickers you can get a design you like and trace it on BLANK paper set the paper on Wax paper or any paper in general that tape doesnt stick to then get your tape and place it on the front of the sticker with the design then this next part is tricky (also i recomment using something else to place the tape because the oils from your hands make the tape stop sticking) NEXT lift the designed paper and tape off the wax paper (and or other paper you desided to use where the tape doesnt stick) then turn your design to face upside down grab another piece of tape and flip it to where the NON STICKY side is down then proceed to stick it on the other sticky sode of the tape
If you followed the steps correctly you should have the deaign have a non sticky top and a sticky bottom then cut almost to the sticker design but not all the way to it where theres about a cm and stick in on the wax paper and then taadaa🦋🦋🦋🦋 next for washi tape i dont have any advise but you can always save or ask during those speacial occasions ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

I dont have many art supplies with me so I just decided to draw and colour the decorative spots and it still looks pretty good. Thank you for inspiring me.

If u don’t have a printer just search the picture u wanna print on your phone or device , then put the brightness of the device a lil higher, and put the paper on top of device, and LIGHTLY trace the picture with dullish pencil. Then u can take off paper from device and outline and color. 😀

Tip : If you don't have a washi tape then you could print one,there are many washi tapes that can be printed,you can find them on Google or Pinterest for better experience (I recommend those apps). Key word I use is : Washi Tape Png. After printing,cut it out and glue it.
If you don't have a printer then you can always do it yourself! Get a piece of paper,cut it the size and length you want (washi tape size and length),color it,add doodles/decorations and glue it. (Creativity really is the key^^)
Another Tip
Stickers doesn't really have to be a literal sticker!
You can print stickers on the internet. Keyword I use : Stickers or Anime Stickers. Cut it and glue it.
Without printer :
(Requires drawing skills if you'd like a pretty sticker ofc
Tip: keeping stock of gel pens and learning how to draw small and simple things can save you some money in case you don't want to buy stickers! If you don't have adhesive like her try double sided tape and avoid glue that can bleed through paper.
I use black thick notebooks and metallic pens to make it more aesthetic
I really like how your video showed how easy the process can be. I haven’t watched any other tutorials, but the videos I’ve seen are either too excessive or so fast paced that you can’t tell what’s going on, and are overwhelmed by what’s happening. Even if people don’t have the materials to do this currently, I think this will help them make it when the time comes. Also your journal looks amazing!

my anime journal started as a soft aesthetic description of all my favorite anime characters, but ended up being a deathnote
Idea if you don’t have a printer:
Get a blank piece of paper, no lines, and just trace your reference. I am sure you have like a pen or a pencil you could trace with (that’s the main thing, you should have one for your journal) If it’s in colour, colour it with your colouring pencils are are the most accurate to the colours that are on your character(s).
i truly think i will never get enough of pink/purple-ish spreads they just always look so good haha 🤧💗

to prevent ghosting, you can simply write what you want on another piece of paper and glue it onto the sheet. it is also good for if you make a lot of mistakes and makes it easy to layer. especially for lettering, you can layer it easily if you write it on a piece of paper :))
aha that's what i usually do! but the pictures are sometimes so dark and i can't really prevent it lol

This is the first time I’ve heard it being called a “paper trimmer”. Where I’m from we call it a guillotine (literally named after the execution contraption) 😅😅😀👀

I’ve been watching a lot of these videos and have to say, yours is one of the most instructional and useful ones. On a personal note, I like your style and layouts too. Very inspirational.
For people like me who don’t have a colored printer or struggle with the calligraphy and handwriting, there’s an app called Zinnia where you can make these digitally, there’s a subscription but you can use the free version which works just fine. Hope this helps!

When you have no brush pens but want to start an anime journal 🕴️
I have none either, but I'm planning on using felt tip pens and winging it :,)
I don’t have the tape, stickers, pens or motivation TvT
To do that, use a pencil to fake the calligraphy, lightly erase and color in, I used to do that before being able to buy brush pens
you can use pens !! just write in cursive and on each downstroke you made, make it thicker. for can also use markers. I recommend crayola super tips!!

@@addib.12 Hehe if you have any tablet ipod etc you can get a drawing app or something like that and grab pictures virtually and it works you can highlight and more this works in a bunch of apps but even google docs will do hehe and one for if you want it in real life it take a bot more time but it works and your parents might be able to not find it if you hide it or say its for studies but you can grab anything like (computer ipod tablet etc) and choose the picture you want from google and trace :) then if you have the art supplies you can color it :)

i love that journal! does anyone have any good recommendations of a journal with that kind of structure (clear on the covers but can sit flat easily) that doesn’t ghost?
I don’t have any big recommendations but I think like the books you buy at Walmart will do about half. Find a notebook with a good cover you could use or (this might seem like book torture but I think it’ll work if your willing too) carefully tear up the book you bought and get another book with the same grid, also cautiously take that title, then you sorta switch them. I know it sounds murderous but if you’re willing to do it then I recommend so.
I got a really cute notebook for journaling for my birthday but i was looking for a notebook for an anime journal and its perfectt this video helped a lot thanks!

I loved your video! You clarified lots of my doubts about anime journals and you also spoke so clearly (which I appreciate a lot since English isn't my first language but my second). By the way,while you were creating your layout I got an idea (maybe you already do this,idk): after you lay everything out in a way you like,take a picture with your phone and look at it while you're sticking everything so you don't have to keep everything on the paper,taking the risk of messing up something else. That's what I thought about, but of course, I never made an anime journal before so this is just a random idea 😅
