To help them go in at night put a light in the coop. As soon as everyone is on the roost shut it off. This helped my chicks at night. Beautiful babies you got. Nice coop set up too.
Thanks for the tip! After day 2 they thankfully figured it out and are old pros now but I will absolutely keep that in mind if, or should I say when chicken math gets me 😂
@@ChaosMakersHobbyHouse I started with 4 chicks in August of 2021. I have 41 now. And I have 15 chicks arriving at the end of month. Which will bring my chicken math to 50 hens and 6 roosters. Yes I've lost my mind.. lol
@JD-dh7bk 🤣🤣 dang chicken math got you real good hahaha. These are my first ever, got them the very last week of August. I already want more but I have to be strong!!!! Literally don't have the space for more on my 1/6th of an acre..... well at least not many more haha
Such patience, love, and beautiful determination you have for your flock! And what a wonderful little flock you have...they are gorgeous! Thank you 🌻🌻🌻
So glad I am not the only one.😂 Mine are on their second night of putting themselves to bed n I am so proud of them. God bless u n your gorgeous girls❤
Same! After the first 2 days, they started figuring it out. Day 5 I cleaned the coop while they were in the run..... big mistake hahaha, aparently change is scary and a clean coop re set their little brains and caused a ramp traffic jam at bedtime 😅
I swear, the way you said “good morning, ladies” sounded so much like me, even my dog got excited because she thought I was talking to her 😂 Beautiful birds, and lovely coop/run. Your hubby’s chick noises were too funny! Enjoy your little flock. Chickens are so much fun ❤
Hahaha all my pets get their good mornings, so funny how your dog responded, mine get the hard core wiggle butts hahaha. So far I’m obsessed with the chickens! Loving having them around and sitting out with them after a long day I swear is better than any therapy.
I had 40 chicks in early August that needed to leave the brooding area and go into the run. They didn’t go, so with in 5 minutes I went into the coop and grabbed each by the feet and gently tossed them through the door into the run. Each landed on their feet and were happy to be there. No coaxing from me!
I’m a big old softie and want them to love me hahaha. But really I only have the 5 and want them more as pets so trying my best not to give them any reason to be skittish around me. So coaxing until I look like a fool haha. They figured out how to come out in the morning and go in at night on day 3 and I am thankful. I’m patient but I’m not that patient 😅
Poultry farmer shaking head. They coming and out on their own and these are young and figuring it out. They see you, they hear you and you are distracting their natural instincts. Go out to shut door once they are in.
@@bhb12682I agree that they’ll figure it out without any intervention, but I also understand her being a helicopter mom to them. It’s hard not to when they’re pets. I thought it was precious watching her bribe them into and out of the coop 😂
Haven't tried superiors or crickets. They are obsessed with mealworms! I haven't heard of superworms, I will have to check those out :) thanks for the suggestion!
@ChaosMakersHobbyHouse they are pretty much a large mealworm. We put them in the coop and they love to try and find them. If they survive they turn into a beetle then the hens get a bigger snack lol
@Gabellanas23 oh my goodness….. I will absolutely have to try this when the girls get a bit bigger. Right now they are only 7 weeks and turn their nose up to anything bigger than a mealworm hahaha
Amazon! The hardware cloth was easily half the cost of buying it local at a feed or hardware store. And the latches and knobs were from Amazon too. Couldn’t find what I wanted locally on those. I linked the items in my Amazon storefront if you want to take a look.
I just had this sneaking suspicion if I helped them too much I would end up having to help them forever hahaha. But good news is they walked out of the coop this morning after only 7 minutes of convincing and put themselves to bed tonight! Went to check on them and start getting them back in the coop and they were already in there 😂
Oh I know... I'm such a terrible human. Worst chicken mom ever 🤣😂 she got me back though and showed me who is boss by stealing an earring right out of my ear haha. She earned that name!

Thank you 😊 my patients has paid off and they now exit and enter without any assistance. I find a lot of peace just spending time with them!

@ChaosMakersHobbyHouse 🤣😂Thanks for the heads up, they sure are temperamental little things, but so darn cute.
They really are! Drive you crazy but you can’t help but love them haha

Have you given them live superworms yet or crickets? Mine go nuts for those treats

this was pretty funny to watch, you have a lot more patience then me, i would have put them out myself after a like 6 mins haha

The husbands expert chicken noises are so spot on can’t tell who’s making the noise. 😊
😅🤣
How dare you trick Karen into going out into the wild outdoors by dangling mealworms into her face? You're lucky she did not ask for the manager.
