As a Swede i like this content :D The winkled vinyl on the doors is because the glue volvo used is really bad "nature" stuff. You can just glue them back with better glue. And I bet that the wind noise is from the door where the moldy seatbelt is. So check the condition on it (and just replace it if needed) :)
Hey Emily. Love your work!! I have a beautiful orange C30 and a V70 which is my work beast (for building) in Australia. I have owned a series of more than a dozen Volvo's. Enjoy your videos :)
Nice long term project you have there. (& I don't think you over-paid ; these cars are sought after) Don't be intimidatec by a long list of jobs. A lot of those issues will be really straightforward to do & cost very little - just take your time & do all the mech & elec fixes first ; replace thermostat, new rocker gasket, check sump gasket, replace old belts, check fuses & get a good few spares. flush & change coolant, replace power steering & brake fluid - it's cheap & you don't know how long it's been there. changing PCV filter a good call. change cabin pollen filter too (they get forgotten also) & check scuttle drains are clear & that ECU isn't getting drowned. Cosmetic corrections take more time investment than money. That bodywork can be made 90% grade with just some breakers parts, a little paint & a lot of effort. Top things you should get, if you haven't already :- 3 spray cans mixed to cars paint code (about £40 the lot) 10 cans spray grey primer (poundland) 6 cans spray matt black (poundland) Sandpaper / Wet & dry ; 80, 180, 400, 800, 1500, 2500 grit Angle grinder & 80 / 160 flap wheels 'Kurust' rust converter (it's the best) Hot air gun Steam cleaner (go my polti £45 e-bay) or hire one Hot glue gun & clear multi-purpose glue sticks 2 part epoxy resin glue (poundland) Spray contact adhesive Multi-purpose grease (wilkos or Euro Car Parts) Fuel system cleaner (wilkos or Euro Car Parts) New wiper blades (wilkos £4 each) . Any & all trim that's missing or too far gone to repair can be sourced from e-bay or breakers yards Get that 940 sorted & tidy, you'll have a practical, appreciating classic & it'll be worth £3K all day long
It's fantastic to hear that a 23 yr young lady discussing improvements with an older Volvo. I am still doing that at 60 and never seem to achieve what I wanted to do!. Best O luck Emily on the long and hard time consuming broken finger nailed road. Don't give up the passion and enthusiasm or you'll just give it away and buy a newer one needing less work......
Great video! Really want to get myself an old project car and use it to learn more about the mechanical side. Best of luck with this. Looking forward to seeing it progress.
Engine is capable of a comfortable 500hp at the rear, keep the sleeper look I reckon. I'm gonna start a 240 sequential turbo 5 pot project soon. Will be interesting to follow your journey while I wait to start mine
OMG! As a swede and volvo fan it really hurts when people with no knowledge whatsoever try diy work, destroy a really good car like this. I hope you complete this restoration, cuz most of it is usual maintenance even if you got more than you bargain for. There are some "chips" for the air and fuel box for more horsepower. Carpet on the door panel?, well i i have seen that some use it in the bathroom he he. Keep up your good work and good luck!!
Thank God another channel doing old school volvo...and it's in English. You just can't go wrong with rwd red block volvos. My one has a low 160k on the clock and lives in the red line most of the time, and has never let me down yet.
I bought my 940 for £725.. It's a right parcel, but I love it.. Speedo and odometer are both inoperative, the old B200F has a nice case of piston slap and the exhaust is dropping to bits xD amongst other things. With the MOT up in January, the future of the old girl is unknown.
Hello Emily. Congrats on your new Volvo. Watching this video made me happy. Nice to see women loving old volvo’s and getting their hands dirty. Love from Norway.
Hi Emily, to find the seats in the boot there in a handle (closest to the boot lid) in the middle which you can lift up and if you have the seatbelts you should (most likely) have the seats there. Also to keep the boot up you're best off finding something like a scaffold pole if you have one laying about. (I was lucky enough to get one with the car)
Ohh yeah sweet. I'm gonna get 94'eh like this one soon! Volvo for life. And great content video, no bullshit, no begging for subscribers or instagram followers. Love it!
Looking at the oil leaks on the engine, I'd suggest the blocked breather system will have led to the cam seals and probably the front and rear crank seals failing due to the pressure within the engine. They're actually not too difficult to replace, though replacing the rear crank seal does mean removing the gearbox and flywheel, which is a good opportunity to replace the clutch while everything's out...
Bet you’ve already done it by now but I drive Alfas (so not a stranger to weird problems) your draughty windows might be the old rubber seals. Worth a go using silicone grease on them all to see if it makes a difference. Enjoyed the vids, never had an interest in Volvos before but enjoying the quirks in your C30 and barge here.
Love the wagon. Great video, I just want to start work on it now!! My old man used to have a 740 turbo intercooler was a beast. Turbo brick they call em in the states now haha. Loving your work 👍🏼
Only problem with a big ass estate is everyone wants to stuff things in the back of it. Removals, collection of washing machines and hauling fridges about are in your future.. Go with what you like and don’t let anyone else convince you otherwise.. best approach when buying a car
I found a used gauge cluster on eBay and this is what I found for you Emily 93 95 94 Volvo 940 speedometer instrument gauge cluster 3544286 $149.99 which isn’t bad but things on eBay are kind of hard to trust if it still works or not they just want to get it out of their hair so it’s kind of a risky purchase because if the one that you buy doesn’t work your back to square one but it’s worth a shot since new parts for a 90’s Volvo are hard to find even in a junkyard you might see if their are aftermarket parts that would be compatible that you know will work but anyway I would thought I would give you that bit best of luck I know you can find what you need and I am sure you can find a cool looking aftermarket front bumper as well as a grill as well enjoy watching your videos. Georgie don't replace the carpet s untill you check your not getting water in ....because it looks like someone s taking the carpet s out and the bung out the floor .. ....brilliant vids Georgie...keep um coming 🤪👍
In the front footwells there are flaps to let air in. Is probably blocked on the drivers side - the draft may be from the passenger. You are lucky that the interior is grey/black as there are plenty of spares, I had a tan interior in the 3rd 740 and it was a nightmare getting interior bits.
Sounds a lot like my 940 when I got it, got through a good few of the jobs now though, all the leaky bits on engine are easy and cheap todo, may as well do the cam belt when in there, with the other front seals as well as cam seal, the rear 7 seat should be under the boot floor but could well have gone missing in the past 20 odd years, the whole AC system has been yeeted as well so one less thing to worry about haha Sadly wrong end of the country (North east scotland) to give a hand with the oil leaks, but defiantly all fixable on the driveway with even just a socket set and couple other basic tools, 940 is a perfect car to learn/practice fixing engine stuff on

Fellow 940 owner here. Those mystery belt catches in the boot are for the fold down seats that go beneath the boot floor. Took mine out and are sheeted taking up space, if you want them for the fair price of fuck all, drop me a message 🤙
Hi, good video and perfect timing for me at 4.20am here. Looks like you have plenty to do. But making a list is good so you can check it off as you go and keep track. Then it isn't so daunting
That’s probably done more miles than the starship enterprise! All the aged and perished seals, if you want to keep it long term probably best to have a full engine rebuild carried out or just live with the leaks if they are only slight. Good luck with the car you are braver than most!
This is exactly what I believe has happened, will be replacing rocker cover and both front and back camshaft seals! Hopefully that stops her ‘sweating power’ as I now like to call it 😂

She's had a fair bit done from standard haha! that was the first place I looked for the seats and all I found was the spare wheel well so god knows where they've gone haha
The headlight wipers have been taken off probably because if they were there, they would have to be operational to pass inspection and they are notorius for collecting debris into the mechanism.
Had seen an episode of chasing classic cars the other day where they bought Paul Newman the actors old 960 volvo had a 5.0 supercharged v8 ford engine in it.
The fucked up interior leather is a factory flaw. The material was too thin and tight and would shrivel up in sunlight/heat. My '96 Wagon has the exact same thing going on.
It's not a true redblock unless it's leaking (sweating power) 🤣 I should start doing videos of my 460 turbo called "Ray-le-otter" you open the bonnet and underneath is a French engine looking up at you like fuck you monseur. Hope your project goes smoothly!

What you actually done to c30 on outside looks pretty standard also be good see that 940 a good sleeper the rear seats are under the boot carpet
She's had a fair bit done from standard haha! that was the first place I looked for the seats and all I found was the spare wheel well so god knows where they've gone haha
Consider a new sub right here! Loved my dads old 940 back in my youth! Make her back to her former self/ modernised :)
The old Volvos are beautiful Cars good luck with this project I have Subbed to your channel stay safe
Hope you got this for free this is the most beaten 940 ever haha
Keep up the good work! Channel will do great
Noo I think all things considered it’s not too bad 😬😂
Good luck with it, I gotta a feeling you may need it lol.
The headlight wipers have been taken off probably because if they were there, they would have to be operational to pass inspection and they are notorius for collecting debris into the mechanism.
Not in the UK.
@@stevechambers500V8 Oh, okay.
You need to keep the towbar to keep the sleeper look 👍
Had seen an episode of chasing classic cars the other day where they bought Paul Newman the actors old 960 volvo had a 5.0 supercharged v8 ford engine in it.
Love the video hope it all goes well 👍
Old volvos are cool 😎 my dad had a 740 thing was a tank
The fucked up interior leather is a factory flaw. The material was too thin and tight and would shrivel up in sunlight/heat. My '96 Wagon has the exact same thing going on.
It's not a true redblock unless it's leaking (sweating power) 🤣 I should start doing videos of my 460 turbo called "Ray-le-otter" you open the bonnet and underneath is a French engine looking up at you like fuck you monseur. Hope your project goes smoothly!
Pick up, them door projector lights. Will make the retro boy look abit newer
