the thing about 5+ gallons, the fish is much more active and fun to own in a bigger tank. in a bowl they just sit there, in a 5-10gallon they interact with their environment and you more
I put mine in a 29 gallon but I’m planning on redoing the whole tank with live plants and some non aggressive fish like Cory catfish and neon tetras so he has some friends (hopefully he doesn’t kill them)
This video is highly detailed but the cycle part wasn’t explained properly in my opinion. A lot of people would ask what to do if ammonia levels r there or are high.
im impressed by your commitment to this channel despite how little the viewership. to think u have been doing this for this many years, shows ur passion. wish u the best
You would probably have a heart attack if you saw how i took care of my first betta when i was a kid. 1 gallon tank. No filter. No heater. It lived for two years before it passed away. Now ive got 1 in a fluval spec V and its very happy.
most people are like that with betta’s lol! everyone seems to just throw them in some bowl or bass with tap water and leave it at that and their fish last forever. but when i had betta’s as a kid and did the same, i swore they’d die after a couple months - a year. so now as an adult i’m tryna take better care of them. but the first one i had as an adult recently, died. so i have a new one now and i’m trying again lmfaao. i really just want a cute fishy to play with and watch swim around and i wanna keep it happy and healthy.
Hope to see you have more Gold fishes at your fish tanks guys 🤷♂️, specially Oranda n Ranchu they are the best nice, cute, attractive, charming n super great 👍.
Thank you so much for this video. So helpful! I am going to set up my first tank and this video really made it so easy for me to understand. Just a quick question, if i stick the rhizome plants on the rocks. Do I still need aquatic soil for substrate or can I use sand as substrate?
You can get away with just aquatic substrate also you could add a inch and a half 2 inches would be better of sand on top really helps alot with the sand also ass it acts as another layer of filtration and also keeps the aquatic soil in place better as the soil will eventually break down and get kind of mushy works wonders for the beneficial bacteria and keeping ammonium levels down and nitrite and nitrate levels down without doing water changes often makes maintenance much easier
Can you recommend and show how to use a sponge filter? I had one and my tank just didn't filter enough, and I'm not sure if that was user error or just a cheap pump
Really enjoy your videos. I have a female baby Betta in a five gallon tank with sand, live plants, snails, and driftwood. How often does the water need to be changed and how much?
y’all i had betta’s growing up as a kid but i feel i remember that they died quite often. like maybe within a couple months to a year. and now i’m an adult and i want to have a pet betta again. i got one from my aunty, he lasted a month with me and sadly passed away shortly after this last time i changed the water in his tank. i just bought a new a beta fish. i have ~about~ 2 gallons of water in his tank. i just put fresh tap water in it. i also bought this thing called “water conditioner for betta’s” and put the correct amount of drops in the tank. i have two colorful decorations in his tank. one is a fake rock he can hide in with colorful plants on it and the other is a brightly colored fake plant. his tank also has an LED light as one of the walls (the back wall) that can change color. and i’m gonna use a carbon filter in the tank. and i’m gonna wait overnight to add the fish to the tank. (for now he’s just gonna stay in the container the pet store had him in.) i’ve heard betta’s may need a heater in their tank but i live in Hawaii… and it’s summer rn. the “room temperature” water is already luke warm. it’s normally around 70°-80° here in Hawaii. so i don’t plan on putting a heater in the tank. is all of this okay for like a basic beta tank? ik most people get betta’s and just throw them in some bowl or vase with tap water and leave it at that and their fishes are fine for years but i wanna give my fish the best care i can. i don’t have a lot of money though so i’m just looking for the basics and bare minimum to make sure my fish is healthy and happy for as long as he shall live. any tips are appreciated!
Cool video i keep and spawn bettas for 12 years and i keep them in 20-24°C water. But i keep ahort fin plakat and dragon types. This longfin types are so overbreeded som too much risky for my project. Shortfin can live 4years with no problem but olny one important is live food for me
I bought a betta and he is in a cycled 3 and 1/2 gallon tank. I want to move him into a 10 gallon aquarium when it is cycled... I will be putting a cycle sponge filter in it... What's the best way to transfer him? I will make sure the temperature is the same and I'm assuming the water parameters will be the same since I'll be using dechlorinated tap water.
Can you recommend the food you would give them instead of the pellets? I have blood worms but Im not sure what you mean by "live foods". can you give some suggestions?
Blood worms are meant to be a treat every few days. Bettas are carnivores. & need a variety of a few insect based foods. Try bug bites & a couple others. Live food is live as in worms, mosquitoe large, sting bugs, etc.
ive 4 platys 2 female and 2 male, one of them is being bullied so tends to hide and misses out on feeding time. do i need to buy a few more platys , ive no idea on what to do please any information you can offer me is greatful.
If you are such an expert, why do you pronounce Betta incorrectly? You are saying Beta, which means a subordinate male. Betta means warrior. You Americans really have to get your head out of that sand. Be correct, not incorrect ffs

facts I have mine in a 20 gallon tank with other fish and it's constantly swimming and dashing around the tank 24/7
Mera betta to 28 liters ka tenk ma bohut khush hay bohat active hay 🤓
Not everyone has the space for that
@@AndyGolfsUA-cam if you don't have room for a 5 gallon tank then you should probably just wait on buying a pet fish

Eeeekkk love this! Finley is famous! ❤️💙 Great informative video! Definitely sharing with my friends who’ve asked how to start a Betta tank!

I love being in well water
What kind of lighting is needed? Is it only needed if you have live plants?

Awesome video thanks
I have biorb flow 30litre ,can I have beta in there ? Thanks
I’m getting a lot of black algae in my freshwater tank , any tips for a newbie? It’s a heated 60 litre tank
For a beginner video, you probably lost people at that particular part, because you didn't actually explain what "cycling" is or why it is needed.
That sponge filter

Haha I’m here brother! I’ve just chosen to step away a bit. It can become a bit too intense at times 🙏
@@PalmerAquatics good to hear, welcome back
put a betta in a 5 gallon

Yeah that sucks when that happens!
The author of this channel cannot pronounce the word Betta correctly. Sad.

this is a beta male comment
America rules!!!!!!
aww he was so excited
It's not a "Bae-ta". It's BETTA. Betta. BET-TA. Gosh get is right if you are going to talk like an expert about it.
You BETTA, he says Bae-ta
Bae-ta, BETTA
BETTA, Bae-ta
Let's call the whole thing off.
