funny thing i changed the hatch and placed a coating on the wall and i have been on a lot of class 5 big water here in norway with this boat even done some 2 metree drops with it handles it fine but then im 190 cm tall and 105 kilos so i need a pretty big boat and i just fell in love with the balance on the katana have both the 9.7 and the 10.4 i use the 10.4 on more relaxed trips and on the ocean i use it for trips where i know i will be wave surfing but you need a powerful paddle and to use some muscles if youre going to get the most out of this boat i use a werner shogun and it realy helps with a bigger bladed paddle tried with the werner sidekick didnt work out so well but for creeking i use a dagger axiom 9.0 but the katana with the skeg up handles perfectly like a little longer creeck boat perfect for learning i would say much more forgiving in learning to turn and surf and such than a proper ww boat is so defenitly a boat i would recomend for a beginner that wants to try doing a little of everything but the contour ergo outfitting is a must if youre going to use it on white water over grade 3
@@bsherf934 class 5 big water only relativly low drops more speed and how gnarly the holes are if you get stuck in them that makes it class 5 and yeah our class 4 is your class 5
becouse over 180 cm i recomend the 10.4 for the leg space i have both the 9.7 and the 10.4 and the 9.7 is realy short on the legspace for me cant have a foam block to absorb impact and it feels realy unstable with just you in it so if its in the 9.7 you can only load about 10kg of gear and still be able to roll and it will feel like youre sitting balancing on a matchstick if youre to much over limit and absolute limit for the 9.7 i would say is 105 kg with gear and you the 10.4 still feels realy easy to turn compared to other boats i have tried the 10.4 turns just as good as a pyrhana burn medium just way more stable the 9.7 will feel as if youre in a slalom boat and you will go realy deep into features so can only recomend it if you are realy good at rolling if youre over 180cm tall and 97 kg in weight the good thing with the katana if its a little big for you is that you can remove the pillar thats in front of the seat take out the feet suport stuff a water tight bag in the front to have space for even more gear and just place the pillar and feet suport back in there and just have a screw driver or what ever is needed to get it in again in your pfd
Gonna be picking up mine in a week! It's the 10'4". Great video. 👍 Good to see how versatile my new kayak is gonna be! Be safe!
Fantastic boat. Miss mine

@Luke Griffith just get a paddle with big blades i use the werner shogun becouse youre going to need it to make rolls realy easy even with the gear
How is it to paddle in flat water? Is it heavy to paddle?
Actually I don't have it any more, but I can tell you that I used it a lot on flat water. Even put one of my dogs in it with me.
What you are calling a hook is for locking the boat by passing a cable lock or chain through.
Damn good boat. I miss mine. Adventure machine
Excuse my ignorance but are you holding the paddle the wrong way around? Looks upside down to me..
Nope
whats with that weird audio loop
The katana is a great boat. I would suggest you reduce dependence on the skeg in flat warer as it significantly reduces speed and agilitt
