It's amazing how many different sounds you can get from a drum kit but when you have a true master of the instrument like Chad Wackerman, you're not just watching sounds being produced, you're watching a living musical master class come to life before your very eyes.
I love Chad Wackerman...I have only seen this now for the first time. This is one of the best composed drum solos I have ever heard. The tone he consistently gets on the toms is fantastic!
Fantastic master, it is a valuable document in the Australia´s era. Wackerman is a Giant, young people think they discovered the drumset... there are too many heroes to know! Thanks for posting
Cheers bro, I've got some more live video that I've been meaning to upload I found on my sisters camera sd card from a couple yrs back, will upload soon. Yeah big Muller fan too!
I was trying to work out whether that guitar you were playing James was the one Nick made for you... the one that was stolen... then I looked at the date this was recorded. Did you get that guitar back or is this another guitar?
That song is called "The City" from the album "Scream". Excellent recording I still have from when it was released in 2000. ua-cam.com/video/_QWcv2MSfNw/v-deo.html
After a 4 year old post, the suspense must be killing you ;) so, the tune you're asking about, most of it, I believe is, 'The City' off of Chad's 'Scream' album (2000)
@Red Skeleton Decades ago doesn't mean he's not heavily influenced by Allan, which is undeniable, and I suspect Allan would have been way to polite to say anything to him, but I know he was a little annoyed by people copping too much of his sound. I have no objection however; the dude is a fantastic player, and I even like obvious clones, because if you can do it, it's beautiful even though derivative, but I think the OP is probably right anyway in regard to what he probably would have thought hearing this. It's hard for any jazz rock guitarist not to be heavily influenced by the genius GOAT.
Chad...one of my favorite drummers of ALL TIME...slick production and GREAT SOUND! Love the vibes!
Mindblowing drum solo, one of the best I've EVER heard. Chad is master 👍
out of this world, proud to be a human at this point! :D

Well said!!!!!!!!
That ride cymbal is beautiful
James Muller!
Fantastic! I saw Chad for the first time with Frank Zappa sometime in the early 1980's and he blew me away.
First time I heard Chad was on Allan Holdsworth's 'Road Games'. This was before I knew he played with Frank as well. Great musician.
Same here Kevin Simons he was mega.

Can't wait to see James play again. Thank goodness for UA-cam. I wish he'd publish his gigs more!
Wow! Just wow.
Great solo by an accomplished musician. I hear a lot of Ginger Baker in Chads playing which is a big compliment in my book
Chad and Brooks are both amazing drummers. It's in their DNA from their father
Astonishing display, wowza

Chad's drum intro, wow. He makes this look so effortless, when i know it's not. Amazing group too.
...thanks to his teacher Murray Spivock who taught him that relaxed hand technique
Perfect sound
This is wonderful!!!Thank you so very much for posting!
Killer sound and playing. Wow!
Damn that guy can play...
His toms are tuned really high great sound
Thanks for this, I'm a bit James Muller fan! :-)

Great! Can't wait, thx! :-)
James is a fabulous player ... so underrated. He plays with great imagination and abandon.
Love It !
Great Great and great feelings... I very like it ! ! !
Very good. Same band from the Scream album?
Yes, same band from that album.
Anyone know the name of the tunes?
If Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich could have seen this, and that grip.
Amazing! Name of the tune?
“Tell me” from the “Forty reasons” album (first song after the drum intro)
Kinda Holdsworth - ish ....? RIP Allan !
How do you like that tuning and or what?
yeah but can he play wipeout...
First riff reminds me of the Wanton song
Tell me!

I believe this is a tele made by Sydney builder Jeff Mahlia, he has a Muller "Signature" style guitar on his site too same as this one.
DOes anyone have a track listing for this???? I'm interested to know the name of the second piece that leads to the end of the video. Thanks!!

Если это музыка Чада. то он ещё и великий композитор. А стиль этот ближе к avant prog, чем к jazz. Или avant-gard jazz.
This that new Mario kart
where's airto when you need him...too dry for me, but brilliantly played
Very Bozzio 'esque.
Walt Coyle : Indeed.
Better band composer.
Holdsworth would probably encourage Muller to find his own voice.
