Whitesnake is one of my absolute favourite bands with a very consistent output. My number one album has to be Slide it in where they merge the blues rock with the big sound of the 80s. A classic.
I started listening to Whitesnake when Trouble came out. My favorite era of the band was with Coverdale, Murray, Marsten, Moody, Lord, and Paice. I liked all their albums but would put the 87 album near the bottom of my list. When the videos came out I thought Coverdale looked silly when they tried to make him look like a big hair rocker! :). I also liked their last 3-4 studio albums. I thought they sort of mixed the old blues sound with the current rock sound. Great video by the way!

The first time I heard 1987 I nearly blew the speakers and my mind was blown. I hadn't heard anything like it before. It was incredible! Whitesnake was also my first concert in 1987 with Great White opening.
This is a really good ranking although me personally I would put Slip of the Tongue way way lower as ultimately I do think it’s a massive disappointment and I love Steve Vai normally. I love The Purple Album! Does for those DP songs what the band did with their early WS songs with the 87 & 89 re-records of HIGA and FFYL. Turns them up to 11 with much improved production.
I disagree. But then I grew up on the original Deep Purple songs so I feel like no one can replace Richie Blackmore’s playing. They seem too polished now. Don’t get me wrong, I still like The Purple Album, but I wish they had done more to reinterpret the songs making them significantly different.

I absolutely love your channel its a daily watch for me,but I was wondering if you have much in the way of female rock bands I.e. the likes of Heart or Vixen and would love to hear your thoughts on female orientated bands . Regards Julian Bentley
I discovered Whitesnake via Slide It In (US version). As much as I love it, it was also quit being a “band”. It was David Coverdale’s latest version of Whitesnake after that. There’s nothing wrong with that, but the stuff from the beginning up to Slide It In was the ‘Snake I’ll always love. No favorites. Just a natural progression.
Nicely done sir. Whitesnake are one of those bands that it's all too easy to rank by era rather than album. Your ranking shows you've actually listened to the albums rather than simply going with your favourite lineup. I might not agree with you but that's half the fun! 😂
In fact doing it by era is the only way given that to most brits, like myself, all the brilliant hard blues rock albums from the late 70’s and early 80’s (the proper jeans and beer Whitesnake), will always be at the top and all the the widdly widdly over produced, spandex wearing we wish we were Mötley Cruë (the poodle perms and cucumbers Whitesnake) will be at the bottom. Purely based on the quality of the music early Whitesnake were putting out, it was better and it wasn’t even close either it was better by a country mile.
I like tracks from each release prior to Slide It In and following Slip Of The Tongue, but 1984-1989 is peak Whitesnake in my opinion. As for my favorite, I go back and forth between Slide It In and the self-titled. After a 20 year reign, Slide It In slid back down to No. 2 and the self-titled is currently my fave yet again (as it was in the 80s and 90s). Still Of The Night is still one of the greatest hard rock songs of all time, to be sure.
My list goes as follows (I'm not including the albums I don't have): 12. Forevermore (2011) 11. Good to Be Bad (2008) 10. Restless Heart (1997) 9. Trouble (1978) 8. Snakebite EP - expanded edition + Coverdale's Northwind album songs (1978) 7. Saints & Sinners (1982) 6. Slip of the Tongue (1989) 5. Whitesnake (1987) 4. Lovehunter (1979) 3. Come an' Get it (1981) 2. Slide it in (1984) 1. Ready an' Willing (1980)
I think there is so much great music beyond just those 3 albums. I highly recommend you explore more. If you like the big 80’s sound, check out the reunion albums like Good To Be Bad and going forward.
@@BrendonSnyder I like some of the songs on Forevermore and the 1997 album, I believe featured leftovers from the Coverdale/Page project. I just couldn’t get into Good to Be Bad.
Love your album rankings Brendon, wish you would do them more often they are by far my favorite thing to watch. Always nice to see someones opinion and I like that you are often different then most peoples rankings.
They take a long time to put together which is why I don’t do them as often. However, you’re in luck as an Album Ranking for Peter Gabriel will be posting tomorrow. Happy coincidence! 👍
Thanks Brendon. I think their album Flesh & Blood is a killer. And if that's their last album it's great to stop with this. I also like very much their Purple album too. Here's s my ranking from top to bottom: 1. 1987 2. Slide It In 3. Slip Of The Tongue 4. Come And Get It 5. Saints & Sinners 6. Ready And Willin 7. Lovehunter 8. Flesh and Blood 9. Restless Heart 10. Good To Be Bad 11. Forevermore 12. The Purple Album 13. Trouble
My Ranking 1) Whitesnake 87 2) Slide it In (Uk Better IMO) 3) Saints and Sinners 4) Trouble 5) Flesh and Blood 6) Ready An Willin 7) Forevermore 8) Lovehunter 9) Good to Be Bad 10) Come an Get It 11) Restless Heart 12) Slip of the Toungue
Always fun to disagree with you 😁. Not much with this one though. I feel 'Forevermore' is easily the best one since the self-titled. Will have to check out that 'Restless Heart' remix. The new mix and track order of 'Purple Album' at least is better than the original.
Whitesnake have had perhaps three careers. Very bluesy to begin with…very British and charming. It soon became stale and predictable. Cov rocked it up with star guitarists with 1987 onwards. Probably peaked with ‘Slip of the Tongue’. Now he pushes albums out which are ok, nether great or bad. Take nothing away from Coverdale, he took many risks along the way. They paid off!
Side It In (2009) remaster Whitesnake (1987) 30th anniversary remaster 11 tracks Slip Of The Tongue 30th anniversary remaster (I love the album cover to the 30th remaster)
Almost totally agree with your ranking, except restless heart would go on the last spot and Forevermore and Flesh & Blood (3 great tracks, the rst is not my cup of tea) would swap places.
The original version of Restless Heart would rank near the bottom of my list but, the newly remixed 25th-anniversary edition rips with the power you expect from a post '87 Whitesnake album. Here's my ranking minus the covers album: 13) Trouble 12) Lovehunter 11) Slip of the Tongue (David should have waited for Adrian or let Vivian record it. Steve Vai did not work for me on this material) 10) Come and Get It 09) Ready and Willing 08) Saints and Sinners 07) Flesh and Blood 06) Forevermore 05) Restless Heart (25th anniversary edition) 03) Live in the Heart of the City (I usually wouldn't rank a live album in with the studio stuff but, this is my favorite album from the "bluesy years". The production on those studio albums let them down in a big way!) 04) Good To Be Bad 02) Whitesnake 1987 01) Slide It In I honestly don't listen to anything below number 7 on this list anymore.
I just ran across the remastered editions of the early bluesey albums and I have to say that I may have to reevaluate my ranking after this deep dive. The production on the old albums was thin and lacking the bite you need in the mid-range (especially nuetering the guitars). The remasters have a lot more punch in the mix and the guitars have that bit of nastiness you want to hear so, I am going to go back in for another listen on these!
Lost interest when they jumped on the hair metal bandwagon with 1987. Love everything that came before, and my ranking order for the early albums would be pretty similar.
Hi from the UK, I have to mention Whitesnake are one of my top 5 rock bands, Thin Lizzy sre my number 1. I did enjoy this ranking very much because it had my 2 most favourite albums in the top 3, Slide it in and 1987. My top 3 albums are actually : 1: Trouble. 2: Slide it in. 3: 1987. But I hated anything post 1987 as the band had changed too much by then. But my question is can you please do a same video for Thin Lizzy? I would be very grateful. Thank you. Dave from Cornwall UK.
No contest for me “ Slide It In “ is their best work. After that ( for me ) it was perms and tanning booths and basically hired hands behind Coverdale. Yep made shed loads of money and great sales but it wasn’t for me when DC went over the pond.
He went over the pond for Slide It In too who were also a bunch of hired hands. It just depends on how you look at it. For me I don’t hear anything different between Slide It In and the self titled album from 1987. But there was a big change in sound for Slip Of The Tongue and that album also seemed to be a little formulaic trying to maintain the success of the previous album.
Agreed on 'Slide It In', although I can enjoy most of the stuff that came after as well. It's like a different band altogether. Coverdale should have kept Mel Galley as a songwriter after the accident, if possible. Not that John Sykes did too bad of a job with it...at least success-wise.
@@BrendonSnyder yeah they changed it up/re-recorded some of it. The recent box set of it is fantastic. The live disc contained in it , I was at that gig in Glasgow. They were brilliant i can still feel Cozy’s bass drums vibrating through my feet 👍
..... "come ' an get it" album? Their best album, the most accomplished, between rhythm & blues and hard rock, fantastic cover too. And I'm not even talking about the musicians... Lord, Paice, Murray, Mardsen, Moody, Coverdale.... with this swing, this sound, this magic, this honesty, which we will no longer find, even if there are good albums after, like "Saints and sinners". But the turning point too much hair metal according to me didn't appeal to me at all, although I like Sykes or Vai...but not in Whitesnake.
Ok now the same way you love Come A Get It and that era…. love Slide It In, 1987, Slip Of The Tongue…the Glam Metal Years. They topped everything and everyone during that time. No one could touch them. And I’m not even talking about the musicians like John Sykes, Adrian Vandenberg, Steve Vai, Vivian Campbell….which you can no longer find….oh wait they’re all still making killer music!!! Yes indeed so is Whitesnake!
Of course he got it all wrong. The number one album is ''1987''??? The album that buried Whitesnake and created that AOR Def Leppard sugar ballads commercial Disco band??? And he forgot to mention Cozy Powell. Well, he's a young guy.
'Ready an' Willing' is my favorite Whitesnake album. Still can't believe Bernie Marsden is gone. Rest in peace, Mr. Marsden!

I would have Forevermore much higher on my list. I think that is very underrated gem of a WS album.
Absolutely! The song Forevermore and Whipping Boy Blues are two of their best ever!
Imo the Best Album is 1981 Come and get it
My list goes as follows (I'm not including the albums I don't have):
12. Forevermore (2011)
11. Good to Be Bad (2008)
10. Restless Heart (1997)
9. Trouble (1978)
8. Snakebite EP - expanded edition + Coverdale's Northwind album songs (1978)
7. Saints & Sinners (1982)
6. Slip of the Tongue (1989)
5. Whitesnake (1987)
4. Lovehunter (1979)
3. Come an' Get it (1981)
2. Slide it in (1984)
1. Ready an' Willing (1980)
87, slip of the tongue, slide it in. Those three condense their best songwriting ideas.
1987 Rocks!
Whitesnake........................ Rules
🤘😎🤘
Thanks Brendon. I think their album Flesh & Blood is a killer. And if that's their last album it's great to stop with this. I also like very much their Purple album too. Here's s my ranking from top to bottom: 1. 1987 2. Slide It In 3. Slip Of The Tongue 4. Come And Get It 5. Saints & Sinners 6. Ready And Willin 7. Lovehunter 8. Flesh and Blood 9. Restless Heart 10. Good To Be Bad 11. Forevermore 12. The Purple Album 13. Trouble

✌️
Nice T 👌🏻

2) Slide it In (Uk Better IMO)
3) Saints and Sinners
4) Trouble
5) Flesh and Blood
6) Ready An Willin
7) Forevermore
8) Lovehunter
9) Good to Be Bad
10) Come an Get It
11) Restless Heart
12) Slip of the Toungue
thank u sir
Always fun to disagree with you 😁. Not much with this one though. I feel 'Forevermore' is easily the best one since the self-titled. Will have to check out that 'Restless Heart' remix. The new mix and track order of 'Purple Album' at least is better than the original.
Love your racking videos. People need to chill over album art...Gezz!!🤨🤦♂
I know is not their best, but my all time favorite is Slip of the Tongue!! Sailing ships, enough said!!
Judgement day...🙂
Great song...one of my all time faves
Whitesnake have had perhaps three careers.
Very bluesy to begin with…very British and charming. It soon became stale and predictable.
Cov rocked it up with star guitarists with 1987 onwards. Probably peaked with ‘Slip of the Tongue’.
Now he pushes albums out which are ok, nether great or bad. Take nothing away from Coverdale, he took many risks along the way. They paid off!
Side It In (2009) remaster
Whitesnake (1987) 30th anniversary remaster 11 tracks
Slip Of The Tongue 30th anniversary remaster (I love the album cover to the 30th remaster)
Here's my ranking minus the covers album:
13) Trouble
12) Lovehunter
11) Slip of the Tongue (David should have waited for Adrian or let Vivian record it. Steve Vai did not work for me on this material)
10) Come and Get It
09) Ready and Willing
08) Saints and Sinners
07) Flesh and Blood
06) Forevermore
05) Restless Heart (25th anniversary edition)
03) Live in the Heart of the City (I usually wouldn't rank a live album in with the studio stuff but, this is my favorite album from the "bluesy years". The production on those studio albums let them down in a big way!)
04) Good To Be Bad
02) Whitesnake 1987
01) Slide It In
I honestly don't listen to anything below number 7 on this list anymore.
@@patriotpizzamanDon't forget that there are Snakebite and Unzipped as well........
Here in Brazil they are like Gods. They played at the first rock in rio so since then they've been treating like gods. So as the Scorpions.
Lost interest when they jumped on the hair metal bandwagon with 1987. Love everything that came before, and my ranking order for the early albums would be pretty similar.
In 1987 only David was left. So His 1987 album 🙂.
But yes, the earlier albums was lacking the Ritchie Blackmore power. Enter John Sykes.

Why is there a period after every word in your sentence?
Ranking from zero to 12 degrees subzero. Each album contains at least one screeching guitar solo. If not, go back to your retailer and demand one!
where is slip of the tongue at
Hi from the UK,
I have to mention Whitesnake are one of my top 5 rock bands, Thin Lizzy sre my number 1.
I did enjoy this ranking very much because it had my 2 most favourite albums in the top 3, Slide it in and 1987.
My top 3 albums are actually :
1: Trouble.
2: Slide it in.
3: 1987.
But I hated anything post 1987 as the band had changed too much by then.
But my question is can you please do a same video for Thin Lizzy?
I would be very grateful.
Thank you.
Dave from Cornwall UK.
I think "Forevermore" is my favorite, along with "Ready an willing". I also like the compilations "The Rock album" and "Unzipped" a lot.
Time to start selling off your collection so you can start collecting again.
That makes no sense especially considering what video this is.
Whoa man chill! There is nothing wrong when it comes to an opinion and that’s all this ranking is, my opinion. Geez…
@@BrendonSnyder
1987, Slide it In, Slip of the Tongue... pass on the rest
2 albums only.....self title and slip of the tongue.. thats it
My no 1 is 8️⃣4️⃣. / Slide 🛝 it IN”. 👍💯
And thanks Brendon for your ranking 👍💯
Glad you enjoyed it!
