Ice cold take by now: but I really wish ACNH would let you have separate save files on the same switch. I'd love to waste time doing random challenges like this or experimenting with game play without deleting my main island. Watching your videos always makes me wanna replay the game but I don't want to lose 3 years of progress
You only need a mildly powerful computer to emulate it (for example the Steam Deck runs it just fine), and if you already have the game it's not wrong (morally) to pirate it for stuff like this. Just my opinion though
@vurpo Do you mean to emulate it playing on PC? Just curious because this never even crossed my mind and I always want to reset/ experiment lol
@vurpo doubt the old potato I can barely do taxes on can handle that. She can hardly run a ds emulator without throwing a fit.

Still better than the sea butterfly who waited in my storage for eight months before I could catch the other two again for C.J. But once I did catch them, I grew attached to the first one and placed it on my house instead.

Slightly less of an annoyance as the coelacanth, but the snail is a similar story with the snow thing. It can only spawn on rocks and bushes when it is RAINING, not snowing, but every source says it can be caught year-round!
Yup, I'll probably rant about that in the bugs video!
my guess for this and i could be completely wrong but perhaps it says its available all year round is because the seasons are reversed for southern hemisphere players meaning that december, january and febuaruy are summer instead of winter and therefore don't snow
@season4266 the critterpedia will always state seasonality for whatever hemisphere you choose. outside of online play, you can't travel outside your designated hemisphere so there's no reason for the in game critterpedia to tell you about a creature's seasonality in different hemispheres.
also, if this were the case, it would say scorpions and tarantulas are both available year round too

@@season4266 no worries! glad i could inform you ❤️ i believe in previous games, snow was treated as rain and the critterpedia wasn't edited for NH to make it accurate. OR they forgot to include snow in the code for coelocanth spawn requirements. its the only fish to have this spawn condition so it makes sense if it was missed

I loved this challenge!! been there for the streams (until I fell asleep at least lol) and enjoyed them a lot. You're doing such great work at keeping the game alive with these fun challenges! 👏

it took me until you mentioned CJ to understand that by fish models you mean the stuffed fish lol i thought that depending on how big or small the fish you catch is, there's different computer models that the game uses ^^'
I hope this isn’t too tedious, but I would love to see you get every villager photo in the game 😳 doesn’t even have to be a speed run, I just wanna see you do it lol
Koramora actually did this, it took them over 100 hours, i think dagnel has limits though lol, though I would love to watch him do this

It'd sort of be cool if you did all the bugs on this save file, or on another switch. Having a Dream Address with every single model in the game when both challenges are done could be really awesome, even if it's not exactly decorated beyond just displaying every model.
I definitely think you're supposed to be able to catch a coelacanth in the snow (snow is like rain for flowers at least) but according to some redditors/wikis you can't. It's probably a bug
It's weird because I catched a coelacanth during snow time so maybe a bug yeah ?

Dorado and Mahi-Mahi can be used as one interchangeable name and identify it as the Mahi-Mahi as seen in AC. (Salt water/ocean fish). Freshwater dorado are different and the game is correct, but as a really salt water only fisherman, it triggers me just slightly :)

8:00 I guess it says that the coelacanth can be catched all year round bc in new horizons you can play in nothern and southern hemisphere and therefore the southern h. would have no snow but the potential of rain in "our" winter months
sure they couldve maybe programmed two versions of that to say the right thing for this or that hemisphere but alas they didnt

I think one insane challenge that would be fun to do is to give yourself one month irl time to get as many items in game registered to your catalog as possible (including color variations). This includes furniture, clothes, bug and fish models, artwork (real and fake), literally anything that appears in the catalog, whether you can purchase it or not.
Finding someone to verse you in a challenge to see you makes more progress would be so fun! Whoever has more items (including variations) "registered", wins!

This is incredibly late but you can get the Coelacanth in February (August in the South), from the 25th onwards. It's a very small window but it still counts, but it being marked as all year absolutely screwed with my brain considering in past games you COULD catch it in snow, but in NH you CAN'T.
i was so happy to see you in my sub feed today ((: had a great time watching while working late at the studio
Don't they have Coelacanth listed as all year round because you can choose between North and South hemispheres for gameplay? I mean you can't change your island's hemisphere, but you can visit another player's island that is in the opposite hemisphere from your's, giving you the opportunity to catch Coelacanth in Dec/Jan/Feb.
So now New Horizons is a 10/10 game, right? ;D
The catching information and season are actually localized, so if you're in the southern hemisphere other fish won't be caught in the same month as it would be in the northern!

I've just gotten into your videos recent and I've played all the NA Animal Crossing games and never really knew much about the Nookazon. I've really enjoyed the videos experimenting with it and it might be interesting to see you collect all the art for the museum through Nookazon (or fish or bugs or something). Idk if that sounds fun but its an idea lol

7:41 I think that you can still get "Off season" islands via Kapp'n tours and Mystery Islands, so you COULD get a December rainy island, though the odds are not ideal.

just wondering, do you usually write your script for the video then edit to fit or vice versa? really curious to know how u manage to cut down 44 hours into 24 minutes!
I write the script while marking points in my editing software of moments that I want to make the final cut. Then I record the script and edit it all down

Costs a lot of money, but maybe if you built Resident Services early it might be. Trash didn't inconvenience me too much in this challenge though!

7:35 my only guess is maybe because it doesn't snow during the Southern Hemisphere during December-February and they didn't want to split up information about one entity? That or it was an oversight on their part.
