This is the studio recording dubbed over the video of their Woodstock performance. But the fact it matches well shows how consistent and tight they were. John was very unhappy with their Woodstock performance. They followed the Grateful Dead, who went way over their time limit, and it rained on CCR's equipment while they were waiting. And then by the time they played, most people were asleep.

First time I listened to this was with headphones, DaNang Vietnam, 1968. It instantly became my favorite CCR song. I continue to have this on my gym play list of songs today, 52 years later. It reminds me of those times, late night on California freeways and this tune would come on and I would slip the Porsche into fifth gear and just cruise. I was surprised that out of all the CCR songs and hits, there were so many others whose fondness for this is as great as mine.
@@patriciajohnson6653 Aw Particia, I believe it was in Vietnam where I caught yellow fever. More than anything, the ladies cast their spells on me... lived with seven women (not at the same time lol) married three of them... stayed good friends with them all. My third and final wife is Chinese. Married 16 years now. Thanks
Mavis Staples said that John Fogerty had more soul in his little finger than does all of Harlem. Now THAT is an authentic compliment. The man had the muses working in those days, no doubt. Such an outpouring of great songs, great vocals and great guitar playing in a very short period of time. He was a genius.
I loved the way they did the live performances to sound like they did on the radio. The spotlight on him, the mic and the camera so close you could see his tonsils when he screamed lol! He's awesome!
I was only 6/7 yrs old when I fell in love with CCR's music, the first time I heard John's voice was magical. My uncle played their album constantly. Life wouldn't be the same without CCR❤

This song was one of only a few covers John ever did. The original was a fantastic tune by "Screamin" Jaw Hawkins (decades before his time) and I encourage you to listen to it. How JC Fogerty managed to build on the original is something no one has ever attempted to do. This song cuts down to my very soul. Shear, uncut, raw passion.

It is very nice to see sharing same song, same name and almost the same car cruise which I made yesterday. Salute to the taste, Sir.
Sounds like you have and have had a great fucking life.
And, WHO did you cast your spell on while you were away in Vietnam, Soldier? Thanks So MUCH for your service!
Thanks
@@DenCon143 you're entitled..livin the dream, Vet!!!
Bester Song meines Lebens.
Absolutely gorgeous! No matter how many times I hear it. Just phenomenal, beautiful performance.
xxx
Probably the best version of I put a spell on you EVER !!
Rickenbaker's solo is amazing
I was playing this song in my room full blast when my Dad started pounding on the door yelling at me to turn it up. 🤣
Good dad
Hola
Lol!!
Same as mine .... (but backwards)
LMAO my dad played this full blast with surround sound. If he heard it being played you'd hear "you better turn that up"
Without doubt the very best version of this song. Just jaw dropping good.
very cool, but for me it's number 2 after Joe Cocker, his version absolutely the best)
I’m still listening in feb 2020, love this version!! 💕
Imi place ce ai postat pe canal. Pune muzica mai multa!!FELICITĂRI !!
Me too
Am melodia asta in play-list-ul meu in 4 variante: BLUES,ROCK și JAZZ!!!! Cei mai buni sunt CCR. SUPER!!! EXCELENT!!!
This song has been one of my favorite songs from the day it was released by CCR in 1968

He still is, not dead by any means.
I loved the way they did the live performances to sound like they did on the radio. The spotlight on him, the mic and the camera so close you could see his tonsils when he screamed lol! He's awesome!
this is the album track dubbed over a live performance
Where did Mavis say this and when, do you know, love'm both ?
utoobia he still is a genius in my book !!
Masterpiece! Still in 2020 is such a cool song!
Still is bro and will for centuries trust me!
This songs are the best and with a deep meaning!!! Not like all the rubbish music that the most people listening to in nowadays....
Isn't this the most perfect example of rock? Doesn't it explain the early 70s.
Can you give me other good songs like this
Was, Now and Forever exeptional!
2023. Still brilliant.
After 50 odd years listening to this version still gives me goosebumps.

Amen. It’s a masterpiece
Oh, that guitar in this tune. Scary brilliant.
Words cannot describe how incredible this is. Like, really, really, extraordinary incredible.
I was only 6/7 yrs old when I fell in love with CCR's music, the first time I heard John's voice was magical. My uncle played their album constantly. Life wouldn't be the same without CCR❤
Hi Brenda💐💐
One of the greatest songs. A historic piece of music.
soglasen 100%
One of the most emotional solos ever recorded.....
FABULOUS !!! Probably the greatest song of ALL TIME !!! This song moves me in ways I can't discuss in public.... The talent behind this song is phenomenal.. Oh my this is sooo good... I love AC/DC my favorite band but CCR is an extremely close second , and spell on you is #1, numero uno... OH!!! What this song does to me, can't you feel it !!!!
By far their best song ever! I never get tired of hearing it!
I found this yesterday it’s so so good. I’ve listened to it like 12 times in the last 24 hours
No wonder!!!!..goosebumps!!!
You have seen the light ...
I only realized now that he was 23 years old!!!! That voice!!
No need for any fecking "auto tune" back then!
Fogerty (John) is one of the original heroes of R&R: Sublime musician and songwriter (these days *extremely* rare)!
He's still a fantastic singer n guitar player
Absolute favorite CCR song. Takes me right back to high school and all the good music of the 70s. CCR captured the Vietnam War erea entirely in music.
Fogerty and Creedence have been responsible for some of the greatest covers in the history of popular music including this, Suzie Q and I Heard It Through The Grapevine, all taken to other dimensions :) otherworldly.
I almost cry, what a awesome interpretation!
octuvery ckazt
sometimes I do cry...brings back days of both joy and pain
That is one powerful performance. John Fogerty soul is in and all over it. Best of the best!
Definitely one of the main pillars in the Pantheon!
Sure one of the best cover .
The whole band playing is what is also unique here, that mystical "Creedence Sound"
The way the opening just drops in so hard, WOW! You know at that moment it will be great
