Cillian Murphy is perfect for the role as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom in the MCU/Marvel Cinematic Universe.

@genkyourebuke951 I like Cillian Murphy, he's a great actor. But he isn't a good fit for the role. Yes, he can play both bad and tough. But can he play Dr. Doom bad. I don't think so. Also, he's 5ft 6 in height.
The most consistent and reliable sources have been suggesting that the heads at Marvel aren't even sure if they're going to tackle Doom right now and are going to stick with Kang.

They must not be planning a long run with Doom, dudes 71yrs old.

He can Mandalorian it and just do the voice over once they do his origin.

It could be just for the voice, like was with James Spader--and that was brilliant/perfect.
I think they should have stuck with Julian Mcmahon. He was cool.
It's the way he was written that didn't do it for audiences. He could be a variant. However, as the prime Dr. Doom, Javier Bardem or Christoph Waltz. He's a distinct character actor who would fit well. Also, Disney can afford Javier Bardem due to The Little Mermaid.
Julian was a good Doom- he should be the Doom of secret wars.

*_Called it!_* I don't see what the problem is. Doom will likely be CG, anyway, so it just comes down to voice. Liam Neeson has the *perfect* voice for Doom. It's like Josh Brolin as Thanos; some people balked when they heard the casting, but now we can't hear anyone else's voice.

For me he would be perfect for magneto, but doctor doom would work too I guess.
I could see him doing a good job. But it’s possible he’s playing a different character entirely, and we’re all assuming it’s Doom because he’s a big name and we know that someone is playing Doom. For all we know he could be playing Franklin Storm. That would actually make more sense, but either way it’s fine with me.

This is true. I was there at Marvel Studios when they negotiated and signed a contract. All in my head of course but still💀😂
This will be cool although how will they explain, Viktor and Reed age as they are the same age.
My one issue with this is his age. First, he is way older than Pedro pascal, so you can't really do the whole they used to be friends in college thing, and aside from that I think he is a little old to play the character for as long as the character should he around

With Doom it’s similar to Galactus. You’re hiring a voice because he’ll be behind a mask the whole time.
Well, he'd be a good one. Think they need someone older, with that sort of gravitas and unique persona. I'd be for it.

_*Sorry Armin! Disagree! Liam Nelson is a FANTASTIC actor and he can play quietly threatening like the best of them; and that is in great part what’s needed for Doom. Would I have loved an Eastern-European actor with a great regional accent? Absolutely! Was he my first choice? Perhaps not. (Although I am not sure who my first pick would have been)

@@davidletarte214 That is better than most of the recently introduced heroes and villains in comics. Just look at Shade/Darkveil (or not, this is one of the few times I would agree with the notion that ignorance is bliss).
*Quite simply, I don't feel it's very simple in how Marvel Studios manage Doctor Doom in the MCU. I feel he deserves to be seen in different variants i.e. but relative to not random/any timelines, but earths rightfully to be witnessed, relative to comic storylines and the MCU so far. Being careful with the character is simplest way I can summarise my opinion*

Doom's whole identity is based on him being part of a nomadic South Asian minority, persecuted by Eastern European racists since childhood; ppl seem to insist on not noticing this - tho it dates back to his 60s origin story - and there's a huge, huge pool of South Asian actors all over the world who could do this - but if they insist on ignoring that, then Javier Bardem at least looks closer to this, like Montalban did w Khan - otherwise, Neeson has vocal training, physique, and gravitas, and this is like his Darkman

When he was younger maybe, but he's too old now. Doom should be Reed's age and even though Pedro Pascal is too old for Reed, he's still much younger than Neeson.
He's a good choice, certainly talented but:
-He is way too old, especially if we want his backstory with Reef to make sense
-Cilian Murphy is still a great choice

@@leorios8279 that doesn't matter he's gonna be in a suit for his more iconic moments anyway. Think Michael Keaton as Batman who also doesn't look anywhere near close to Bruce Wayne is supposed to look but he knocked it out of the park with his performance as Batman.
Why does Marvel keep casting old people to play villains instead of young people who could play them for 10 plus years instead of 3 years
They turned young characters like Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne old. And old characters like Aunt May and Agatha Harkness young. That's as much of a sh't they give about the source material they're adapting.

I believe Liam is too old for this role, Pedro Pascal's age is 49 as per google.. Dr. Doom's Age should be close with that range.. I'm not really that knowledgeable in regards to comics but I'm Sure reed and Victor is almost the same age.. I still prefer Cillian, hopefully they write a very interesting script for Cillian to bite...

Is Armin referring to Dooms Gypsy descent? Because if you wanna cast 100% accurate I'm sure the actual pool of Eastern European Gypsy actors Disney would tfust with such a pivotal role isn't exactly overflowing.
So long as a persons appearance doesn't diverge too much from thd source material you should have as much freedom as possible in your casting, which in Dooms case translates to just about any male of any ethnicity past 40.

Gypsies are part of the South Asian diaspora, just like African Americans are part of the African diaspora - and Doom was racially persecuted in Eastern Europe as a child because of that; his ppl are not originally from Eastern Europe; they migrated there - so on that basis they could cast, say, an actor of Indian heritage, and there is a really huge pool of such actors all over the world, and it would be just as faithful as casting Michael Jordan as an East African who grew up in the US
