Awesome. I stumbled onto your channel a couple weeks ago, and I'm loving it. I did Technical Illustration for about 20 years, and lately I've been focusing on fine art... This just gets my motor going. It's like combining Tech Illustration and Fine Art... Yeah!!! My friends think I'm crazy, but I love it.
    Great stuff, Scott. :)

Oh man, I´m gonna analyze the SHIT of this book! I´ve preordered it more than a year ago and I can´t believe it´s finally here!
Thanks Scott for sharing this wealth of knowledge with us. You have no idea how much this means to someone who is not in a position to go to a quality design/art school.
I am on the last year of the largest art school in my country, and I can say with absolute certainty that I´ve learned more about the craft of art in the few hours of watching your DVD´s and tutorials than in the 5 years spent in that school.

Thanks scott! I dont have the book cause we lack financially, but somehow i tried this technique(applied my current knowledge of course) and im impressed how it turned out to be. Ive been struggling how to indicate the ground planes to so using countour lines helped me although idk how to render it quite well digitally yet.

It´s always fascinating to me. How such lose and seemingly sloppy lines, can end up in such a nice end product. And interesting to see you scatch ahead with a copic sketch marker. And then using the shizzle tip on top of it. I have seen this only a few times.

Hi Scott I just got your book and I love it. I just wanted to let you know that the video option for your app on my iPhone and iPad is not playing the videos only showing the Easter eggs and showing that the videos are available but the play button does not work. Thanks for writing such an awesome book I hope that this tip helps get the app fixed. Thanks again for all your hard work.

We're working on an update. It's technically not our app's problem. Google broke all mobile links to You Tube. So we have moved all of the videos to our own server and will have an app update soon with new mobile links. All the videos still work using a web browser on ipad or iphone via the URL on page 206.

Ty for this video Scott, very nice! I learn something every time it seems. Just a heads up though, the "jet trails" achieve that look only in modern special kind of trails which are known by conspiracy theorists by the slang of "chemtrails" but their technical name is something along the lines of "stratospheric sulfate aerosols" by scientists, although the materials used are debatable, depending on the region... you teach me something I teach you something ;)

Try the Pentel Hybrid TECHNICA 03 for finalize sketching, terrific pen. Pentel #KN103 wish we had this knowledge/technology back in the late 70's, early 80's regarding design sketching, even having categories of "environmental/entertainment design" as a field of study. I see this was from 2013...you may never see this again.

Sir This is my first comment in my life and i would like to give to you because you have really inspired me to become a better artist. I'm going towards concept art and I have to say its really hard to picture a landscape and the story that goes in to the art.
for me its harder because i have adhd and i find myself sitting in front of blank page for 30 minutes sometime. where do you think i should start to get in to concept art? how should i practice landscaping? And What should i work on? I have started to practice on the mech tutorials you did but i need to put them in a story. if you can answer these questions that would be wonderful. and if you can do a video that would be highly highly highly appreciated

I mostly use the "Copic sketch" ones. The ones with the brush nib on one end, chisel on the other. Color of grey does not matter to me.

  • @Awassii

Do you completely picture the scene or object in your head before drawing or just go with the flow and make it up as you go along?

    • @scottrobertsondesign
      @scottrobertsondesign  10 років тому +3

Both. Sometimes I can pre-visualize an object clearly and other times when I cannot I just start drawing and then find the design through the act of sketching.

I don't know why many people glorify Pilot pens. their pens are cool but the ink is just shit.

    • @Winznut

Because ball point don’t have 100% flow like fine liners when it comes the amount of ink- they have variable flow with variable pressure. So good for construction lines
