- the early app store, a place of wonder... and mystery..., I forgot to mention it here but remember "wallpaper" apps? maybe it was just a me thing, but I would browse through those constantly, that's where i got most of those domo wallpapers.

I didn’t even think about that fact that all we do is scroll. I never tilt or move my phone for any purpose. Often when I’m on my phone I just think that I could be on my computer for a much less frustrating experience. Only reason for a phone is videos and being able to scroll while laying flat in a bed. At least we got tap tap back now!!
yeah literally, it sucks, the phone is capable of so much more stuff, but yeah at least new tap tap! that is so so cool, I do miss the official still though

Oh, one other reason, just a small thing really, easy to forget...the fact that it can be disconnected from power and go with us in our pocket for all day, maybe even multiple days on a charge, and do 90% of the things you can do on a computer??? Easy to forget that part, I know
Yes, I would rather type up a document with a keyboard. I would rather play video games on a big screen with a controller. Both of those things require me to be sitting at a desk (something I am not always doing), carrying a bag big enough to fit a laptop (something I am not always doing), and in the case of gaming, own a laptop with a powerful GPU (I do not).
The little slab of glass in my pocket does 90% of the things I'd do at my desktop PC, 80% as well, everywhere, easily. The weird apps from the old days are a fond memory, but there's a reason that everything fell into place such that everything you need to do on your phone is more or less done the same way - it's simply the most convenient.

cannot lie, the fact that i can't go in and redownload so many of these old apps that i used to mess with on my mother's old 1st gen ipad we won off a radio show has been haunting me for years. i really hope that in the future, even as what's created and shared online all at once increases at an exponential rate, we're better able to archive those sorts of serverside games for that one little guy years down the line who thinks "man i'd love to go back and play tap birds on ios created by gameview studios just to remember what it was like."
that’s where jailbreaking comes in but it’s not worth it at least not on your main device maybe an old one that you don’t use. I’m waiting for the new iphone this years iphone wasn’t that new just usb-c. I have the 12 rn so when I get a new one I’ll jailbreak this one to use the old apps
@@friends4evrr jailbreaking is only half of it. the other is being able to access these games that haven't been archived whatsoever, let alone all the games that are majority serverside for all their functions, even when it shouldn't be necessary. quite a shame.

There’s an ancient iOS game I remember so vividly called Samurai Girl. I think it had news stories about it because it was very impressive for the time, but it just does not exist anymore. I’d kill a man with my bare hands to get that app back because I played it religiously as a small child. I grinded the early game dungeons and had my samurai equipped with all mythic gear and my Phoenix was SIGNIFICANTLY higher level than it was supposed to be for where I was in the story. I want to replay it so I can actually understand the story this time :(
@@friends4evrrThe problem with running old games on modern iOS is that some apps are simply incompatible. iOS 11 dropped support for legacy, 32-bit apps (ie. most games made in 2013 or earlier), so you'll have to find a device with iOS 10 or earlier. An iPad 4th generation is probably your best bet.

I noticed that there were a lot more one-trick-pony apps in the store back in the 2010s - we all remember classic mobile games like Flappy Bird and Angry Birds, but nobody seems to remember those one-gimmick apps that only did, well, one thing, and that one thing was their entire gimmick.
I remember, before iPads got flashlights, there was an app called Flashlight that would display different colors or patterns on screen. You could do fun things like have Christmas lights or Halloween decorations and stuff. These types of apps simply don't exist on the modern App Store anymore because the quality control is much, much higher.

I remember getting my first ipod touch. The first things i downloaded were the lighter and whip crack apps. All of the useless gimmick apps were so full of charm. I miss a lot of those games from that era that havent been supported since ios 4.

Great video! Idk if this fits your video style, but maybe a video on “jailbreaking” Apple devices? Remember it was a big thing before like 2014. Apple has made it practically impossible to do anymore.

brilliant video, gets me so damn nostalgic for the early age of iphone. i remember playing cut the rope on my mums iphone all the time, but itd be a while before i got my own ipod. i only ended up getting a phone after pokemon go came out because i couldnt play it on my ipod. turns out when i got an iphone to play it i also couldnt because pokemon go only had pokemon spawn in towns and cities at that time and i lived on a farm in the countryside lol. i remember trekking around the farm trying to see if anything would happen but the map was just blank green. anyways good video.

I have a Motorola phone (they make pretty good ones nowadays). The chop chop flashlight is still there and I use it daily :) interacting with the phone boils down to gestures like these. You twist the phone to open your camera, and you can edit some I'm pretty sure, it's a really nice thing :)

Yeah! In a way, I think you talking about her “Wild West of iPhone customization” vid, I love that vid and her channel, she’s a huge inspiration, Ive wanted to make a vid on the old iOS stuff for a while, but now that you mention it, that vid definitely did put the idea in my head again
