Another huge "thank you" Eve. You've uploaded the best era of Coronation Street. 89' - 99' were great years. The highlight of 2000 was the Jez Quigley storyline.
He's dreadful, the writers really trawled the bottom of the barrel to come up with him. Characters like that need at least one consistent redeeming feature. And why has Ashley's voice become full on George Formby? That's another mistake the writers made.
Yep sadly he had his second heart attack in 1997 and lost 4 stone in weight - according to Wiki he was told to leave the programme by the producers due to his health issues, it wasn’t his decision. He was apparently so angry about this he refused to act his final scene until they offered to pay 10x the normal rate.
@@EveHenleySpread If he was recovering from a recent heart attack I think the producers made the right decision. But it's sad and unfortunate that after many years playing Alf so well, and making a great contribution to the programme that he left feeling bitter.
@EveHenleySpread There seem to be a lot of instances where Corrie actors who have devoted years of their lives to the Street wind up parting on bad terms. Sad.
i think it's rather sickening of the producers to allow the guy to continue working when he's obviously so ill. he was 2 years from dying at this point, and not dying in a peaceful way. this kind of stress and pressure couldn't have helped. they did the same with bernard youens, who was crippled with arthritis in his neck and leg, along with pat phoenix and anne kirkbride who were suffering from cancer. i know the street like continuity, but they could equally be ruthless in getting rid of characters; such as peter adamson, who was sacked because of his rampant alcoholism. i believe eve said brian demanded x10 to continue working, but surely this reflects how desperate he was for the money, rather than taking care of his health.
I think he wanted to continue tbh.. as did Bernard Youens. Pat Phoenix suffering with cancer whilst she was still on the show? I think that’s wrong, she left of her own accord in November 1983 having just turned 60! She found out about her lung cancer in March 1986 so the two things aren’t connected.
Now that you mention it , “ yes she’s always chopping carrots ha ha ha .. “she wears those glasses .. looks like those carrots are not helping her vision 🤓.

When you're facing divorce, and a possible custody battle, sadly the woman is held up to a higher standard than the man. So the last thing she wants is the suggestion that she's an unfit mother. A vicious ex will use everything against her in court, including her having a relationship with a younger man. It's not fair, but it's true. I know because I've been there - and my ex left me for another woman too, yet he tried to hurl all kinds of mud at me.
Thank you Eve for all of these wonderful uploads. Just watched 6 months worth, now onto this month, commencing in the early hours of the 30th of May 2022. How much longer now I wonder until Deirdre is put in the slammer ...

December was a pretty good month particularly regarding the Jon Lindsay conman reveal, but spoiled in some ways by Judy Mallett's hysterical obsession over the baby Katie/Shannon. The Malletts had actually committed an imprisonable offence by deliberately falsifying a birth certificate. Why wasn't that gone into? It seems to me that Judy was so obsessed and fanatical about 'owning' that child, she didn't realise a simple DNA test would prove Gary no relation to the baby, whether his name was on the certificate or not. It was a ridiculous story, which might have been better, had they faced the law - which they didn't. Apart from some tears and a bit of upset, they got away with something illegal. I did start to feel a tiny bit sorry for Gary, stuck in the middle between two awful women, gobby Judy and sulky Zoe, two characters I seriously disliked.
Having his curls cut off changed Gary from looking like a goofy kid to an actual man. What a difference a haircut makes! Now if only Liz would get a new 'do. That rat's nest on top of her head is the worst! Thank goodness Deirdre finally stopped stickng her finger in the same electric socket, although her side burns are a bit odd. I've given up on her getting a pair of glasses that aren't bigger than her face.

Did anyone else notice when Tracy and Ken were in the cafe, Tracy said Denise and David, not Denise and Daniel. And didn’t we have the same story line about Vera trying to trick Jack by pretending to be someone else, to catch Jack out. Kevin is being so sanctimonious, like he never did anything wrong.
From the moment Spider rang Emilys doorbell i liked him! Isn't it odd that we take an instant like or dislike to someone within half a minute of meeting or seeing someone? Behaviourists say the eye/brain takes 6 seconds to let us know if we like or dislike someone! I mostly take a like to people or reserve judgement until i make their measure BUT, i do conceed that on occasions ive taken an instant, strong dislike to someone & KNOW that, That person also dislikes me. Im retired now but spent a 38yr career in Psychological Evaluations & Assessments & believe, personally, that its a deep but primitive feeling from our hind brain & left over from Eons of time pre stone age when our intuition, 6th sense were developed for our survival To like or dislike someone is to do with self preservation to be wary Or reliant on someone because "Something" tells us so But anthropology & psychology Still havent sussed out the real how & why. So! I like Spider, his character besides being controversial & Non conformist, is concerned for people & values! Its funny how straight laced Emily has accepted him, despite being her nephew & his revolutionary ways, scruffy appearance & pot smoking she has this undercurrent of the rebel! I admire her for that! I did hate ths Battersbys way back when but watching them now, its easy to see how environment & certain kinds of people rub off on others I fell about laughing at Les B crawling through attics playing spooky tricks on neighbours Hes obnoxious, unscrupulous Sly, cunning, uneducated but hes not so vicious, he wouldnt hurt anyone. The girls Leanne & Toyah are typical teens of the day & are only the way they are, due to how they were reared. People esp young people who can be moulded with love & care They arent as bad as i initially thought & looking back now, they are pretty funny I think Janice ( Vicky Entwhistle) Is great! Such a cheeky face & is The glue that keeps them together! Its true, it takes all sorts in life Regards & thanks EHS 🇬🇧👧
Jack’s whistle/hum combination makes me chuckle. Alec having a go at Jack “you couldn’t handle the doings” 😂 Those blokes taking the mickey out of Liz aren’t bad blokes just calling it like they see it she does herself no favours dressing like a who’er HELLO LITTLE BABY
Why do people always jump the gun? Audrey telling Maxine her job is safe and she's going to make Fiona an offer for the salon when she doesn't even know if Fiona's interested in selling!! Amazing.
Five years and a month later Ashley was worse towards Ken than Maxine was towards Ashley between 6:56:31 and 6:57:10 when Ken wanted to help Aiden try to prove his innocence about the case of Maxine's murder. I know Ashley was upset at the time, but it is potty justice if the wrong person would be sent down for Maxine murder.
Hello Eve, another fantastic corrie year of uploads... i.e 1997...... BUT........please PLease ...PLEASE.... DO NOT LEAVE IT THERE LOVE........!!!! LOL... YES,- I TOO AM NOT A FAN OF THE MODERN SHOW....and to be honest the decades 2000 to 2010 leave a lot to be desired...!!!!! This 1990s run you have presented just would not be properly rounded off without 1998 and 1999...............................Pretty please....... thank you EVE, thanks also folks for reading...........wanted to say my bit..............THANKS.
Awww thank you so much Duke for your lovely words! It’s comments like yours that make it worthwhile I can tell you - I’m glad to see there are still people out there with taste i.e. preferring old Corrie to the modern monstrosity it’s turned into! I honestly thought I didn’t need to do any more years as it was already on UA-cam.. perhaps I was wrong! Well anyway.. all I’ll say for now is, I’ll think about it! 😉 x
Good evening Eve, i just wondered if you were away on holiday, or were not well , as i / we had not had anything or heard anything back from you for a few days..... Regards and respect, DUKES 1989

Between 2:31:03 and 2:31:08 Good for Ashley. He was certainly being like Meg Morris (Formerly Jackson) in Prisoner Cell Block H between 2:31:03 and 2:31:08. In Home and Away Paul Jensen was a similar character. If Paul Jensen Immigrated from Sydney Australia to Manchester, England Ashley Peacock and Paul Jensen would get on as well as Meg Morris and Joyce Barrie did in Prisoner: Cell Block H. Meg Morris and Joyce Barrie had a mutual enemy in the shape of Joan Ferguson the Freak.
Thanks Eve, a great end to 1997 with Deirdre finding out bout Jon's double life. As I mentioned before sad to see many of the old stock leave Corrie in this year - Percy, Derek, Mavis and replaced by bland characters - the new Nick Tilsley and Zoe who was more of an EastEnders character, did she ever smile?! I did like the introduction of Natalie, Chris and Spider, Brian Park made a good choice there. Thankfully, many classic characters were still left - Vera, Jack, Betty, Alec, Emily, Ken, Deirdre, Rita, Alf, Audrey, Fred, Maud, Curly, Ashley, Roy, Mike, Alma, Gail and comedy still featured heavily in the Street. 2000s, 2010s and this decade have been a complete dead loss, far too many stunts and sensational storylines, how many serial killers can one street have?! Plus, everyone seems to have been stuck in an affair at some stage! Please, if its not too much trouble upload 1998 and 1999 Corrie so we can relive them again, many good storylines in '98 with the comical Red Reck stoyline (remember Emily up on the tree?!), Hayley being the first transexual character in a UK soap and the reaction of some of the residents when they found out (different times), Free Deirdre with the introduction of the hilarious Jackie Dobbs, Anne Malones freak accident in the freezer, Des Barnes' death, Jack & Vera loosing the Rovers to Natalie name a few. It all went on a downward slope in late 1999 and early 2000 with the introduction of the new Sarah Platt and her bratty friend Candice with the annoying Teen storylines taking over slowly, its just like Hollyoaks today, 2000 was a boring year in Corrie, despite a lot of action taking place it had become a Northern EastEnders and the dull characters kept on arriving in Weatherfield, turned me off the soap to this day. Sorry for the long comment, I could talk bout Corrie all day and its problems!!! Thank you Eve for your hard work.
Agree wholeheartedly. For me, the Malletts-Zoe baby-selling story was as unpalatable and turn-off inducing as the pathetic Curly-Kimberley courtship of 1990. I could barely tolerate even seeing Kimberley on-screen, and her whining voice drove me out of the room more than once. Seven years later, I found gobby Judy Mallett and sulky Zoe almost as intolerable. Thank goodness the Deirdre-Jon Lindsay saga and the Natalie-Kevin The Gerbil affair saved 1997.
@@carasmith549 The Mallets were always fairly boring, Judy was always moaning and shouting while Gary wasn't exactly highly entertaining either but Zoe was just the worst thing to happen to them, she just went around with a huge chip on her shoulder, ungrateful, who in their right mind would take her into their home?! I could never see why Ashley let her move in later on, must have been a glutton for punishment! Kimberley was a fairly unconvincing character, luckily she didn't stay around too long and Curly met Raquel. I always thought Maureen Holsworth should have continued on the street and Fred and herself should have stayed married, they would have made a good double act especially with the departure of Mavis and Derek in '97.
@@murphy9039 I always disliked the Mallets, her more than him, and Zoe was simply unbearable, no real redeeming features at all. It's just a pity that December 1997 was so dominated by them. But the Deirdre and Jon Lindsay reveal (yes, you got mixed up with another conman Deirdre) was worth waiting for on New Year's Eve.
@@georgemeller7173 Yes, EastEnders had a strong couple of years (1999 - 2001) with storylines such as the aftermath of Tiffany's death & Grant's departure, Steve Owen's Murder storyline, Bianca, Dan & Carol love triangle, Dot helping Ethel die, introduction of the Slaters, return of Nasty Nick, Frank and Pats affair revealed on Fireworks night by Peggy (one of the most memorable scenes in the soaps history IMO), Who shot Phil?, Trevor abusing Little Mo, Sonia's teenage pregnancy, Kat being Zoe's real mother, Sharon's memorable return - the list goes on. Corrie had a weak 2000 & 2001, too many issue led storylines which didn't appeal to viewers at all, Jane McNaught destroyed it and introduced even more bland characters particularly younger characters. For me Corrie never recovered during this era although the Richard Hillman storyline was pretty good & was fresh at the time but since then the producers constantly have been rehashing the same serial killer storylines along with the dull love triangles.
1:19:00 After seeing what happened to Fred Gee posing as Mike Baldwin, you’d think Jack would’ve avoided becoming “Ken Barlow”. 4:21:42 Somebody’s playing Galaga 16 years after it first came out.
Tracy and Ken eating in the Cafe...Tracy : "Look Dad, I know you've not had a happy time lately what with Denice and DAVID" Didn't she mean Denice and DANIEL ? 🤔
The recorded background traffic noise is getting louder and louder. Coronation Street is not running parallel to the M6 it’s a back street in Manchester. 🙄🙄🙄
I liked the Mallets but hated the baby storyline that they gave them. This is a particularly bad era of Corrie with the axing of old characters and introduction of new characters. Zoe is terrible. Nick is terrible. The Battersbys are OK but I don't know if I would have moved them into the street. Maybe as reoccurring characters but not permanent fixtures.
The plotline involving Jack and Vera being set up by Alec is almost exactly the same as one from the mid 1980s which also features the Duckworths. More laziness from the scriptwriters.
Can't help but wonder what Mavis would think of all the goings on that have taken place in her and Derek's old home. Do we ever hear how her B&B business got on?
I have to say a big "Thank You" to Eve for entertaining us with these episodes during these times, we all really appreciate it. 👏👏👏👏

BUT, i do conceed that on occasions ive taken an instant, strong dislike to someone & KNOW that,
That person also dislikes me.
Im retired now but spent a 38yr career in Psychological Evaluations & Assessments & believe, personally, that its a deep but primitive feeling from our hind brain & left over from
Eons of time pre stone age when our intuition, 6th sense were developed for our survival
To like or dislike someone is to do with self preservation to be wary
Or reliant on someone because
"Something" tells us so
But anthropology & psychology
Still havent sussed out the real how & why.
So! I like Spider, his character besides being controversial &
Non conformist, is concerned for people & values!
Its funny how straight laced Emily has accepted him, despite being her nephew & his revolutionary ways, scruffy appearance & pot smoking she has this undercurrent of the rebel! I admire her for that!
I did hate ths Battersbys way back when but watching them now, its easy to see how environment & certain kinds of people rub off on others
I fell about laughing at Les B crawling through attics playing spooky tricks on neighbours
Hes obnoxious, unscrupulous
Sly, cunning, uneducated but hes not so vicious, he wouldnt hurt anyone.
The girls Leanne & Toyah are typical teens of the day & are only the way they are, due to how they were reared.
People esp young people who can be moulded with love & care
They arent as bad as i initially thought & looking back now, they are pretty funny
I think Janice ( Vicky Entwhistle)
Is great! Such a cheeky face & is
The glue that keeps them together!
Its true, it takes all sorts in life
Regards & thanks EHS

Fred screamed in the babys face...... Fool.
Fred screams in everyone's face - including Mavis's budgie's.
@@lynnem3300I'm surprised that poor budgie didn't fall off its perch!
Gurrrrrrl!!!!! Why couldn’t I be Deirdre’s best friend?!!!!! I would have been saw through Mister Man John 🤦🏾♀️🎻
Toya a turkeys for life not just for Xmas 😂
Jack’s whistle/hum combination makes me chuckle.
Alec having a go at Jack “you couldn’t handle the doings” 😂
Those blokes taking the mickey out of Liz aren’t bad blokes just calling it like they see it she does herself no favours dressing like a who’er
HELLO LITTLE BABY
I don’t think she is dressed cheaply . That’s a cock tail dress & with her figure , wow she wears it well . She is a beautiful woman .
Is the actor who plays Chris from Birmingham? Sometimes he turns into a right Brummie.
Matthew Marsden was originally from West Bromwich in the Black Country of the Midlands.. so yes, he was indeed a Brummie! 😉
I noticed this too, especially when he raises his voice
Alf looked so unwell December 97, unfortunately Bryan Mosley passed away a couple of years later
When you suddenly realise that The Crown isn't the most unrealistic show ever.🤣
At least Corrie makes it clear that it’s fictional, unlike that Netflix programme you mention.
@@EveHenleySpread Yup.
Hello Eve, another fantastic corrie year of uploads... i.e 1997......
BUT........please PLease ...PLEASE.... DO NOT LEAVE IT THERE LOVE........!!!! LOL...
Reason being,- the Corrie 1998 /99 uploads already on youtube are Not the entire years...!!!! chunks of - bits n pieces - loads of odd episodes , yes, but quite
a few gaps shall we say....!!! , and a couple of once complete 1998 , playlists have been deleted....!!! umm....... not good for us 90s corrie fans....!!!!
Would it......i wonder.... be possible to Finish off the Corrie 90s Decade in style...???
with a 1998 and 1999 run...........Pretty pretty Please......??
The way in which you have presented these playlists is amazing and professional...
-- and no missing shows.......!!!!!.... consistent and brilliant.....the whole thing.....!!!
I speak as a Devoted fan of the show since 1971, my earliest memory being Val Barlows death by Hairdryer......i was 4 years old.................Loved the show....in the 1970s..........Very entertaining in the 1980s, depite many cast changes......
But i missed out on the 90s first time round -- due to many Pub/ Nightclub, Evening jobs.....So i went off the show...................ut THIS LAST 3 OR 4 MONTHS...gained a new interest and respect for the 90s era of the show.......really obsessed with it now...
Don’t worry you have done lots and very good of you cheers again keep me going your brilliant 🤩 very kind of you take care
Good evening Eve, i just wondered if you were away on holiday, or were not well , as i / we had not had anything or heard anything back from you for a few days.....
Regards and respect, DUKES 1989
Hi Dukes, yes I'm over in Tenner-ree-fee (to quote Bet) right now, will be back soon, then I'll see what I can do! ;-)
I feel so sorry 😢 4 that poor 😮😮baby. The parents are very immature 4 those kinds of responsibilities. Gary @ Judy are so much better. I hope they end up keeping her.😢😢😮😮❤❤❤❤ 3:56:43
Between 2:31:03 and 2:31:08 Good for Ashley.
Despite being called Spider. To Emily he'll always will be her nephew Geoffrey David Nugent Emily's brother Edgar's boy.
Okay.
Eastenders in 1999-2001 was much better than corrie imho in that period
Spider arrives on the street , now everyone is an Eco Warrior
Kevin and Sally back to the roaring
Alf doesn’t look well at all . He must be unwell .. ?
"HELLO LITTLE BABY" 😂
Does anyone know what Ashley is supposed to be cooking a at 2.29,00? I can't make out what he means.
Chicken aqua hoops.
Spider and his Vegan ways wearing a woolly sweater.
Alf has lost a lot a weight
He was in poor health at The time bless him.
5:03:46 typical. "After all ivedone for you...!"
"I'll give ya your pride back, honest"

Between 7:17:00 and 7:18:36 This is the best scene of December 1997.
Does anyone know how Geoffrey got his nickname? 🙂
People who are nicknamed spider are usually guys who are skinny.
Probably climbing trees and buildings etc. Doing his protests.
Poor John having to cane 2 Christmas dinners.
Oh Dear Oh Dear Oh Dear Oh Deirdre!!!!!
Can I ask does anyone have home and away classics
From Vera's point of view it's terrible to sell your baby but it's ok to buy one.
Ida (Helen Palmer) who is sitting next to Janice at 2:49:01 looks a bit like Beryl Palmer in Sons and Daughters.
I like that we're beginning to see Toya becoming a little more enlightened instead of being a piece of trash.
At the point 7:14:52 Deidre has a nasty surprise coming her way.
Go on Les!...
The recorded background traffic noise is getting louder and louder. Coronation Street is not running parallel to the M6 it’s a back street in Manchester. 🙄🙄🙄
nothings changed alec was banging on someones door in the same area of the street 1 year prior.
There's something very annoying about that Sam's husbands mush. It's his gob.
Agree completely!
He can't sack Liz, she didn't do anything wrong
not this time 😮
Sally is adorable: She switches from 'Peter Pan's Sister' to "The Girl From Uncle" and is perfect in both personas!
Audrey will stress Alf to Death so sad 😢
I liked the Mallets but hated the baby storyline that they gave them. This is a particularly bad era of Corrie with the axing of old characters and introduction of new characters. Zoe is terrible. Nick is terrible. The Battersbys are OK but I don't know if I would have moved them into the street. Maybe as reoccurring characters but not permanent fixtures.
Zoe takes the baby without any formula, food, nappies, change of clothing. Yup - this storyline is a real as Santa 🎅🏻
£2:40 for two pints 🍻 and £1:40 for one pint 🍺 - only in The Rovers.
The plotline involving Jack and Vera being set up by Alec is almost exactly the same as one from the mid 1980s which also features the Duckworths. More laziness from the scriptwriters.
Janice gullible thinks sam is interested no good lyings cheating Les
Why would Sam be interested in a Balding lowlife thicko like Les👺
Presumably a mistake around 32:50 when Tracy says "Denise and David".
Can't help but wonder what Mavis would think of all the goings on that have taken place in her and Derek's old home. Do we ever hear how her B&B business got on?
Apologies to Vegans.Spiders sweater.Probably organic cotton.
Or an old woolly jumper, second hand. Why waste things that are already made?
Maud getting her lovely hair done them she will put a hat on 😂
