Woman Spots Great White Shark Next to Her & Reacts How Most People Would: Complete Surprise!

- In this weeks' video I share another typical beach scene from Southern California. These are merely observations remember. Once again, a great white shark comes very close to surfers that have no idea it is there. However, now there's a trend. People are now recognizing the drone signals a shark is nearby. Instead of avoiding the area, folks are now approaching the sharks by looking for the drone.

What I learned from this video: Bird smarter than human....
hahahahaha
Lol 6:27 I understand your comment now lol😂
😂
Good way to get rid of stupid...
Good observation. I’ve always known humans were stupid but now we have proof !
Great videos.
Another fascinating look at *human* behavior.
No for real I was more interested in the reactions
This is one of those channels that really takes advantage of the sheer utility that is UA-cam. Educational, entertaining, wholesome even. So much better than even television, who treats the sharks like some kind of terrifying amusement ride.
It's very interesting! And watching has made me want to buy my own drone, so I can have a new up close perspective of animals in the water and in the parks or forests I go hiking in. I can't wait to get it!
Shark Week is so stupid.
Lots of shark videos on YT are dramatized almost, the music, editing, designed to get the viewer's pulse racing.A thrill ride as you say that keeps the fear element. Drone footage is fascinating and the music in these videos is ideal. YT used to be a lot better before the increase in censorship.

So would you go swimming alone with great white sharks without a cage?
The most peaceful video of sharks I've ever seen. I felt calm watching them and found it endearing to see their curious behavior with the floating objects/trash.

Same here!!
When you spend a lot of time around sharks it can be very easy to forget you’re dealing with an apex predator. They can seem so curious and docile. Then you see them hunting, and you realize really quick how unfathomably powerful these animals are.
Even in my 20 foot boat I get nervous when a large shark starts hanging around. When they look at me I have a feeling they could have me if they so desired.
The KILLER WHALE is the APEX Sea Predator.
@Steve Sherman
LOVE your sexy " centrefold " shot dude !!! 🤣🤣🤣
Sharks are not apex predators just letting you know
@@vgbclean
🙄They ARE second in line only to Orcas , as far as danger factor goes ...BUT Orcas are NOT " man eaters"...as sharks are !! Hence they're an " Apex predator " as they DO actively hunt , attack AND consume humans !! ( And NOT just " mistaken identity " bites either !!)
Your footage and respect for the analysis of sharks is incredible
Shark 💭 Ohhhh COOL........
a FRISBEE !!! 🤣🤣
That lady waving the drone away is funny, clueless that it's in fact there for the lurking shark she's unaware of.
Beautiful footage! I'm sad that now people are going toward the sharks. You've had rare opportunities to observe without human interference and now... People are interfering. Makes me sad. I love your videos! I will admit if I was on a paddle board and saw a shark, I'd panic. I have a strange fear of fish larger than a foot... So this is a healthier way for me to enjoy these beautiful creatures. ❤
This reminds me of the Freya sculpture in Oslo now ... For All our Sins.
If the shark gave them a bit of a nip it would be the shark that got hunted down.
Such is the world and humans apexness in 2023.
What is more annoying? The paddle boarders viewing the sharks in the sharks environment or the irritating whir of the drone while doing so?On an SUP You can see the sharks fine without the aid of the drone and the sharks are more than capable of taking care of themselves.
@@diamondchief724
Annoyance scale ...( Least to MOST !) # Drone noise # Paddle boarders chasing sharks , AND...#YOUR COMMENT !!! 😂😂 And I'm SURE you SHALL be annoyed by this comment !!! 😂
These sharks are killing machines. They are as dangerous as anything on the planet. They cover an area of thousands of miles. They are not some some friendly friend of nature waiting to meet you. If you saw one in the water you would probably be dead already. Here on the Calif coast visibility is about 10 feet on the best days. They are there and are looking for some fat stupid creature to eat.
It's not a strange fear, your fear is legit. If you didn't feel any fear at all then that'd be a problem. Nature programs your brain to have fear or to be cautious to protect you.
The sharks are brave to swim close to the most dangerous animal on earth. Excellent footage 👏👏👏👏
Humans are not animals, silly! 😂
@@SalsaSippin_😅 I whole heartedly disagree.
Hold on, are you saying humans are the most dangerous animals or paddle borders. Because I thought paddle borders were the most annoying second only to Cyclist.🤔

Your videos are good for reducing my anxiety and improving my mental health. Thank you
Kind of paradoxical when this video is about shark-human interactions.
@@busybillyb33 That's what I thought. Perhaps it's because there are no attacks, just the sun shining off the sea, the sharks swimming, and people gliding through the water in their paddle boards. That might be it.
If an idiot starts paddle boarding toward a shark, please lead them away. This reminds me of the video where the boat used the drone as a guide to stalk the shark. Annoyingly unfortunate. I’ve learned a lot from your observational footage-about sharks, humans and their interactions. Thank you for calling it _their_ environment!
seems like the debris pollution in th water is a much bigger threat to the sharks than some curious paddle boarders
@@4exgold hardly. that very stupid man on a paddleboard basically harassed the shark by continuously invading its space and when you do that to a wild animal usually they strike at some point. If that man gets attacked its humans in kind react by claiming we have a man eater on the prowl and the sharks are killed all because a moron on a paddleboard couldn’t respect the sharks space.
@@4exgold it’s a threat to the shark though.. they’re essentially preying on the shark and can cause the shark to become investigative or potentially even make the shark feel threatened.
Some people would love to see a shark up close, like that paddleboarder Sharks can be curious of them too
Dont go into the ocean if u dont want to be eaten by a shark indeed. It's their invironment, we should stay away as humans
Great video. Morons chasing a shark by using your drone - defeats the purpose you intended in warning people!
To be fair, it would be hard to know the drone is intended as a warning. Once the paddlers see the shark it’s a different story. Not a good idea to be chasing the shark but the drone pilot should also take some responsibility since he knows he’s attracting people to the sharks.
@@opencoast9763 He doesn't have to take responsibility for other peoples stupidity.
People will do anything to stupid nowadays. Its all good until they fall into the water.
@@opencoast9763 No, the drone operator doesn't have responsibility at all, they know why it's their, they are using it to locate the shark. They are chasing the danger and making a possible serious situation something like a tourist guide.
Big deal. Wise man says, "if you, go into that water, you are more afraid of those sharks, than they are of you!
Your videos have become my evening and morning for relaxation videos

I love how many little behaviors and quirks youve learned about these animals through observing them.
Circling behind people to observe but keep distance, using their dorsal fins to touch/explore things. Awesome work man.
Also love the anecdote about how scarred sharks could be more likely to attack larger/marine mammals.
couldn't they use their dorsal fins to touch and explore us too? why it gotta be teeth all the damn time?
Woah! That opening scene!

A technique I use to measure our juvie sharks in Monterey Bay is by using the drone shadow. Take measurements in a controlled environment to get accurate measurement of its shadow and you can use calipers measuring the drone shadow using a still picture of it over the shark. It needs to be a vertical image and the shadow does not change in size much below 30 feet or so. I find it very accurate.
Great technique - what’s the largest shark you’ve observed out there?

Your videos are truly amazing. It never ceases to amaze me how little common sense some people have that know what your drone means, yet instead of retreating, follow the shark/drone putting themselves and the shark at risk by potentially aggravating the shark. Wish they would maybe? put up signs at beaches "Drone sightings = possible/probable shark sighting" or something of that sort to help those know, that are not otherwise aware, like those 2 ladies. Thank you for your videos.
The problem was that at least one of them knew what the drone meant and went there specifically to spot and film the shark.
Idiot behavior people!!!

@@znail4675 Oh yes, I understand that 100%. They potentially put themselves at risk though by doing that, is what I was getting at. And the shark possibly as well.I do appreciate your comment though. ☺
There are other drones, too.
Unfortunately, that would probably have the opposite effect and more people would start following the drone.
Great footage. The huge shark at the end, watching the women, is unnerving 😮
I Absolutely love your channel! Not only are your videos relaxing and informative, I also believe you are bringing a ton of positive views on sharks, that is a very good thing because they are mostly viewed as monsters whom will attack anything at any given chance
I tend to disagree with the statement that paddle boarders and surfers "have no idea" there are sharks near them; if you are in the water, particularly that area, a shark is always near by. Surfers know this, we respect that fact and are aware of it every time we go out.
Honestly I shouldn’t be surprised but I am just how reckless and annoying these people are. I would have assumed the first instinct a human should have when they are in danger is to quickly get away. But social media has eroded this brain mechanism and people would rather die for a couple of 👍🏻 on a photo.
These sharks could easily nip at any of these people for going after them
yep, surfers are normally most respectful and aware of their surroundings cos they spend so much time in the water. Sharks can come and go in seconds.
What a brilliant channel, it never gets boring watching these majestic creatures, thank you for bringing them to use who are living so far away from these beaches
Thank you for showing how these simple-minded creatures swim around and do foolish and funny things.
Ohhh.... and the sharks are cool too.

Excellent you truly are amazing! Thank you for your hard work and time. Some of your shots show behavior I've never seen before! It's exciting to see your videos pop-up.
Appreciate drones showing areas to avoid!
Its quite relaxing watch drone footage of these spectacular animals, perhaps not so much standing on a paddle board 🙂
what is scary about those people chasing the sharks, is sharks have a way to deal with territorial threats to them, its called biting. while it's clear those sharks have no real interest in eating those paddleboarders one of those people is going to tick off the wrong shark and get a bit for his trouble. granted they usually don't get particularly territorial unless they're hunting dinner. but people acting like that only increases the chances.
I totally agree, makes perfect sense as well.
Every child should be taught not to stalk and molest wildlife. What a horrible species.
Humans are vile creatures. We hunt, fight, kill. It is the human way. We are only the dominant species on the planet as we are the only ones to kill at distance. Every other species has to be next to you to kill. Many humans have no respect for nature.
Sounds like you are the predator
@@DearMines Humans are predators. Of sharks included. For entertainment, not food, the molesters pursue, follow and sometimes touch or jump on anything in the ocean that interests them.
Molest is a very strong word. Sounds like you been watching 'animal farm' too much

Loved the intro scene on this video
After deep sea fishing, I realized how hostile the ocean is. Cast out some meat and within seconds, something was chewing on it
I fear that one day you will witness a very unfortunate and brutal encounter. It is not even a question of "if", but "when?". And the hardest part of it is that you will not be able to intervene, in any way... the filming is absolutely spectacular, and they are interesting and intelligent creatures. Be safe and be ready to face the inevitable "unexpected". Cheers!
I'm pretty sure if such an encounter were to happen, more likely than not it will be the human's fault. You can see here how stupid some people are. But of course, once again the big, bad shark will be blamed.
@@GMObkirchner I think there is no point antropomorphizing and assigning moral responsibility to any animal. Humans assume risks entering their habitat and rubbing elbows with them. It is as simple as that. However, the humans remain the top predator on this planet and, when they arise, territorial disputes are generally solved in favor of the top predator. One way to look at it is to appreciate the behavior of the surfers as very graceful and showing no aggression...
@ConstantinDV of course humans are the top predator due to weapons. A human without a weapon vs a Great White shark is no longer the apex predator. It's lunch
@@raymondsublett3108 To be honest, weapons are to a human what teeth are to a shark, a means of survival. It's not like we are using a cheat code or something, it's simply that people are better at problem solving than sharks. That doesn't mean that the solutions we come up with are not destructive or that they are wise. It just means what it means.
As a side note, it is really disturbing to see people act so carefree in the presence of danger. Learning to co-exist with a top predator (or nature in general)/ accepting the dangers of swimming in the sharks territory and actively playing with fire are 2 different things. I hope none gets hurt and that people would be come more level-headed.
Maybe it’s already happened he just wouldn’t share it maybe out of respect or any reason idk

Nice video thanks. Surface viz looks like it was from footage back in March? Dove the SM breakwater yesterday n got some invert. footage for my marine bio class. Very few pelagics just garibaldi. Plenty of smaller rays in surf zone for juvenile consumption. Worst viz in months post rain runoff brings nitrogen loads and spikes bacteria levels as well.

As always this is great footage of behaviours we don't usually get to see.
It'd be really great if you could team up with a shark researcher on UA-cam and breakdown some of this behaviour even further. I find the way they interact with objects so fascinating and maybe someone like Kristian Parton (Shark Bytes) could tell us what research has been done in that area.
The juvenile shark was stoked that it FINALLY came across a.....FRISBEE !!!🥏 🤣🤣
When I was a kid in Australia, my family were visiting a family friend who was a fisherman. I went looking for him and found him at the top of the cliffs looking through binoculars. After saying Hi, he slammed the binoculars at my chest and ran off, saying “look at the windsurfer” I look through the binoculars, and see the windsurfer, who was sitting on the board. Then I see why our fisherman friend freaked out. There was a great white shark BIGGER than his windsurfing board, under his board, but deep down. Then, I realized that it wasn’t after a meal, it just wanted some shade from the hot weather. The windsurfer had no idea this ginormous great white was below him. Then I look down at the beach and see our fisher friend yelling ( couldn’t hear him from the cliff) and waving at the wind surfer. Eventually the wind surfer came in, the ginormous shark swam away. Then as the wind surfer approached our fishing friend. I could imagine what he said to him because the guys reaction was dramatic, he dropped to the sand crying, thinking how he was lucky to escape a great white shark, along with being in shock from the ordeal. But little did he know, that the shark only wanted some shade.
The monster fish actually wanted some meat on a cracker. Fisherman friend was right to be alarmed.

The people using the drone to get closer to getting bit by a shark are the reason darwinism exists.

So I now know that when I see a drone, to get my camera out bc there is a shark nearby. Don't worry, I won't be in the water. I will be in a big axx boat bc I don't swim in the ocean. 😂😂😂 It's very commendable that you try to warn people with your drone.
I've noticed the younger sharks tend to stay at the 'tail end' of the larger sharks when they interact with each other--not too surprising as a favorite food item for larger sub adult white sharks is smaller sharks.
Amazing footage! What drone do you use?
Big fan here. It would be nice to know what to do, I know that you've said before its better to leave them be and give them space, but with these video and the risk a big shark represents, it begs the question: should you slowly but surely move away? And would there be a way for you to incorporate maybe a tiny siren that lets people know "danger - stay away". I'm going to look for something super light weight that may help. A flashing led and micro speaker with high output that doesn't intervene with your drone and drain its battery to much. IDK... I think you used to have a device that alerted people, what happened with that implementation?
how interesting they touch it with their fin!
Thank you for your fascinating videos and commentary, so informative. I’m quite grateful that you respect and appreciate these amazing creatures. I wish all humans would!
