    One of the reasons I started watching your channel years ago is you DIY replacements for the new popular products. I was really thinking that I needed to get the new alcohol resist product, but I am going to try you idea first. Your backgrounds turned out great. I also have loads of cheap photo paper that I got from the thrift store. Can't wait to use what I already have.

    That Santa card looks nice even though it is dark; but, remember Santa travels at night when it is dark and all little children should be asleep. I think my favorite, though, is the one with the birds.

    Very interesting being able to use paint for the glue. You could probably dab on different acrylic colors to use for that, too. You always find such fun techniques. Thanks for sharing and happy birthday! :)

    Lindsay, you really cracked me up with your comment about each person getting just one card and not being able to compare with the others. I came to the same conclusion last year when I made all my Christmas cards. These cards are amazing. You are so talented!

    I love all the techniques and loose creative fun. I have so many backgrounds and so many focal elements but I have a hard time putting them together. You make it look so easy. I really love the idea of using the transparency

    Lindsay have you tried to use the back side of the photo paper? It actually works better for alcohol inks than the gloss side does. Try it!!!

    Love these cards! Really love how the stamped image transparencies looked over the ink backgrounds with the acrylic paints behind the transparency stamped images. Love the stamps from Top Flight.

    Hi Lindsay, here in Australia some people do Christmas in July parties primarily because Christmas is in the Summer here & it's really not fun to wear a Christmas jumper/sweater or eat a Christmas roast when it's 40degC (104degF) outside. All of the Christmas movies, songs, commercials & cards focus on Winter weather, & pastimes that we just don't experience - e.g.it doesn't even snow in my state - (well occasionally on top of a mountain in winter) & nationally it mostly only snows in the mountain ski resorts where thanks to climate change, the snow now has to be manufactured to get enough coverage. In July, when it's Winter you can actually wear a an ugly Christmas jumper, go to experience the ski fields in the snow & have a Christmas Turkey/Tofurkey roast without feeling like you're dying. Christmas in July makes sense here - Now, why anybody else on the planet wants to do it in the middle of their summer? Well, that's beyond me. LOL

      hahaha, good point! When I was a kid our banks had "Christmas clubs" where you would put money in an account every month so yu had a bunch to spend at Christmas and didn't feel it. I think of the old Christmas in July sales from back then too. I seem to have the time now to make more elaborate cards but am crunched for time in december so I think that is the charm:)

    I love the backgrounds! Wonderful alcohol ink techniques, thank you. I have been looking at my inks wondering what else I can do with them. I really liked the little postage stamp things you layered up, just added to the vintage feel of the other stamps!

    Hi, Lindsay. I love your videos and you have taught me soooo much in numerous craft areas. I have a question on this video; I tried the Carabelle plate on one of my inked background sheets. When I wiped off with a paper towel to see the detail, it erased all the ink. I have tried it a couple times and the same thing happens. Do you have a suggestion?
    Thank you for your time and love of crafts!

      Did you let the clear ink dry before brayering over? That might be why or the paper.

    I know nothing about stamp inks. I would like to use only permanent ink stamp pads. Can you please do a video on on the different types of ink pads that you can use for stamping and let us know how you tell whether or not it is going to be a permanent ink when you are looking at all the different ink stamp pad boxes at craft stores? I bought some a year ago and the worker at the big craft store told me that all their inks were permanent, but I bought the one that had DYE on the top of the ink pad and used it to stamp some paper Christmas envelopes and I let it dry for 10 minutes, and then when I picked up the envelope after that and the ink bled on to my hands........... I don't want to give some one a greeting card or envelope or watercolor painting with ink that is going to bleed off on to people's hands. Can you do a video on which stamp ink pads are permanent and which are not like the ones you find at Hobby Lobby and Michaels..... those are some of the local craft stores in my area. And my other question is if you buy rubber stamps on wood blocks do you want to have separate rubber stamp blocks that you use watercolor paints on and then stamp and then have like totally different stet of stamps that you use with permanent inks?

    These cards are fantastic Lindsay and it was interesting to learn these techniques....all new to me! QUESTION: So if I buy "INK JET" transparencies, I can stamp on it without having to use Stazon (just regular dye based black ink, or any dye based colored ink for that matter, ie Hero Arts Shadow Inks? Thanks Lindsay

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  6 років тому +1

      yes Ma'am! you can even watercolor on them, the metallic watercolor are yummy on them! I have had success heat embossing on them too but you need to move the gun away and sneak it back in over and over to prevent the tranparency from warping and I have not noticed yellowing over time with the ink jet ones like I have with traditional overhead ones. If you live in Maine Nancy check Mardens, I always seem to find them there for haldf the price of office suppliers.
