Really good suggestions. The articulation is also so important for strong (and correct) rhythm. Singers who haven't learned this will have mushy timing.
Interesting how you hear different experienced singers saying different things. Adam says enunciate, I’ve heard others say remove consonents and put them back in as little as possible. I enjoy and gain from all of it. Also like Adams suggestion to focus on process rather than goals. Make the goal the journey not the destination.

Hey Adam, I've always wanted to sing but of course I never liked my voice, LOL! I'm 55 and for the past month i've been working at it, not like crazy or anything but a little every day, I hope that I still can get a few years in before I get the old man voice, i've bounched around these channels and I like you alot, you rock bro!!! My goal is to not be the worst one at the Karaoke bar on the nights I go. You have helped me, I'll go at it a little longer and see if I keep it up, If I do then I promise you can make some money off me. HaHa!! Thank You.
I started at 50. Felt like I advanced a lot during first 6 months. 6 years later I’m still at it and me as a really competent singer is still years away. You may experience the same all good because the journey is fulfilling. Process, like Adam says
