Are first flushes useful for wet systems? I have the assumption the water already in the system would fill the first flush and the first downpour would still make it to the tank.

      Hi James! Great question.
First Flushes are particularly useful for wet-systems. In addition to capturing the first flush of dirty water, they can also be used to drain your charged lines in-between rainfall events so that the first downpour of dirty water never makes it into your tank.
Whether you use a First Flush with a slow-release (drip) valve on the end, or one of our models with the Advanced Release Valve on the end (that releases water from the chamber at an interval you choose) you can be confident that your system is capturing the first downpour and diverting it away from your tank.
In terms of sizing a First Flush to adequately drain your charged lines (and avoid dirty water ending up in your tank) there is more information I can share with you on how do do these calculations if you would like to reach out to me at info@bmco.com.au I am just a bit restricted replying via comment as I can't attach any diagrams or information guides.
