Thank you a million times over!! I am using my electric canner like yours but haven’t gotten the courage to use the manual one just for this reason. I now understand what to do and look for. Can’t wait until garden season!!

Good video - I will share for sure - You might mention that if you lose pressure you will need to start timing all over again.

Really good information. I will never use a stovetop pressure canner because I don’t want to babysit it. We have an electric glass top stove and the burners turn off and on the entire time they are on. That could mess up the pressure, so I have no desire to even try. I love my Presto Precise digital and my Nesco 9.5 Digital canner so I will stick with those, but I watched your good video anyways because I love to learn!

Thanks so much for that. I have a presto and use the dial which I find so easy. Not sure I want to switch but I should try I guess. It is a little intimidating for me. This did help though

You're welcome. 😊 The dial is definitely easy! It just has to be tested, preferably annually, to ensure it's still calibrated properly, which can be inconvenient depending on where you live. The weighted gauge will never be wrong. ❤️

Thank you for this video, soooo helpful!!! I do have a question. I just got a pressure canner for Christmas and canned chicken stock as my canning project. When it came to pressure, I counted the 10 minutes and then put my weight on. The dial gauge stayed at 10 like it should have, but the weight never got to that "sweet spot" like you mentioned here. I adjusted the temperature on my stove down, and it rattled (not bad, but nothing like stopping and starting again) the whole time. Should I toss the jars of broth? They all sealed fine.

So glad it was helpful! Congrats on your new canner - what a great gift. ❤️ As for your broth, if the weight jiggled pretty much constantly, that just means that the pressure was slightly above where it needed to be. Ultimately, that just means you pressure canned it at an even higher temperature than necessary to kill bad bacteria.
Based on that aspect alone, your jars would be fine! 🙂 (Assuming all other proper canning steps were followed.) Enjoy your new canner!! 👏
