it's not so much about the clips but how you use and repurpose them. You need to research and understand fair use for this. But even then with movies and music you will still have the odd issue, it's part of the game.
If I use a “line” or “quote” from a movie to make a whole song based on that one line, but repeat it say 20 times as part of the song, will it be copyright claimed?
Hmmm never really thought about something like this. It would probably be ok as you've repurposed it into an art form separate for the original use like "Cassette Boy" does.
Let's say for a challenge, you want to use footage to show a pro sports match. The challenge would be if you can beat the pro. So you show a little of the pro footage then you make your attempt, obviously adding commentary, entertainment value etc. This, to me, sounds sufficiently transformative enough because you're adding a whole new level to the original content that it was never originally intended for.
This sounds fine to me and falls under fair use. Even better if you have graphics or drawing on the screen to show what the pros are doing. There will still be a chance that a sports brand decides to make a copyright claim if they are aggressive, but YT may back you.

ALWAYS submit counter-notifications explaining how your content is fair use and that's it, if they want to make the strike stick, they'll have to sue you, which 100% of cases won't happen.
100? Be careful giving advice like that. Some companies will sue you depending on how you use it. If you have a budget for legal advice on videos then all good, but most UA-camrs don’t.
@channelprofits Since I plan to do a review channel, if I use clips of a show that's within 5/6 seconds and the source is from archive and unofficial animation sites and not legal streaming services like Netflix, is that susecptible to copyright claims or is it just the matter of how it's used and where you find it?
It’s more about how it’s used and if you are directly profiting off their content. Does your commentary stand alone as the main part of the video. Have your repurposed and added enough value for the video to be something new. It also depends how aggressively they protect their content, some see it as free advertising and others see it as stealing intellectual property
@@channelprofits I'm still doing research on that; it's more to do with reviewing shows and movies like a sort of bucketlist thing, but that's some good pointers to consider. When you say repurpose and add new value, can you give some examples about those two? Just want to get a clear idea of what to expect.
@@eoghanfeighery7383 E.g. showing sports clips for the purpose of explaining what they are doing technically with graphics in an educational way. That would be new and not about showing the game. Do you know how I can get some clips from a tv show legally, like which sites I can use I don't think a tv streaming service will allow me to do it without copyright infiringment.
You basically can’t used anything that is copyrighted unless under fair use. And even then it depends how you use it and how aggressive they target people
Thank you for the advice! In my 15-minute video, I intend to incorporate 4 distinct video clips on various topics. These clips will each range from 30 seconds to 1 minute in duration. To enrich these segments, I plan to include subtitles, feature my brand logo, and even have my mascot engage with the viewers on the presentation video. The majority of the video will consist of my original contents, such as the initial first 3 minutes, Then, I'll introduce a 30-second to 1-minute presentation clip, followed by another 3 minutes of my content, and so forth. Additionally, I've included credits. With all these modifications and the transformative nature of my work, does this fall within the realm of fair use?
The thing is that youtube ai detect the video and fall directly in the copyright, so even if it fair use, i wont be able to monetise the video? but the video will still be public?@@channelprofits

Hei, if i use some motivational speaker clip about 30-40 seconds max, and then i will explain more about what he says, i'm alright? Or i will be demonetized? Thanks!
You could be, but I would still add graphics and other things to the video to make it more original. The more you stop to talk the better. You want the educational part to be more important than the clip itself if possible. Look at how the channel "charisma on command" uses clips to educate.
My sister posts movie clips on her channel and her videos has been getting lots of views and she hasn't gotten any copyright claim so far, she is worried that the channel might not get monitized. What do you think?
This means it won't get pushed out in all countries due to certain copyrights. The content you are using may be partly copyrighted. Or if not the content is of a nature that some places don't allow it. This is why you want to repurpose as much as possible so it falls under fair use.
@@alwaysavestheday No shouldn't be a copyright strike. You would be told. This is more similar to a video getting age restricted. But you want to working out what the issue is. Repeating this too much can lead to account issues down the line.

if someone is directly using your content then yes you could request a removal. I generally send an email via UA-cam first. That works most of the time. But i personally don't like to flag every channel as this will give them a strike and most people just don't know what they are doing. If they aren't getting any views then I'll probably leave it. if they are getting views from 100% of my video and didn't respond to the email, then I'll I'll request removal.

You are using copyrighted content. So YT will block it. You need to heavily repurpose (e.g. for educational or review). Recap will not be fair use as you are making money directly from someones content without adding value. Even if channels are getting away with it, they probably won't for long

I include my own voiceover in Arabic throughout the video, would it be fair use to include small clips of youtube videos around NY in the 70s to showcase where the character was born and a couple of 5-10 sec clips (still from UA-cam) on the character's successes? Overall the video will include mainly images. I believe this process would be highly transformative and it would be repurposing all these clips that are already out there?
This is exactly why there is barely any original content making money Most of the money is being made by people That just flooded with stolen Contant with the same song Whatever happened to original ideas?

Hey bro , when i upload Amazon prime video on UA-cam i get copyright strike but when a channel - arttu upload Amazon prime video on youtube for 5-8 hours he didn't get any copyright claim or strike in UA-cam
Did he do something different to you? And were his videos taken down after 5-8 hours?
@@channelprofits he delete video after 5-8 hours and re upload the same videos and continue this process please check his channel it's name is arttu | he didn't edit the movie | please check his channel | what he got licence to upload Amazon prime video| I applied licence for upload| but I was rejected from Amazon prime video| please check his channel video movie name is (Teri batone asa uljha jiya ) please check why he didn't get any copyright strike but I get please.🙏🙏🙏
@@theperoplayer honestly if he has the rights then you have your answer. Not sure why he would delete after 5-8hrs this sounds scammy. If this is to game YT then I don't recommend it
@@channelprofits but why I didn't get right from owner please
@@channelprofits where are you from
ALWAYS submit counter-notifications explaining how your content is fair use and that's it, if they want to make the strike stick, they'll have to sue you, which 100% of cases won't happen.
100? Be careful giving advice like that. Some companies will sue you depending on how you use it. If you have a budget for legal advice on videos then all good, but most UA-camrs don’t.
@channelprofits
Since I plan to do a review channel, if I use clips of a show that's within 5/6 seconds and the source is from archive and unofficial animation sites and not legal streaming services like Netflix, is that susecptible to copyright claims or is it just the matter of how it's used and where you find it?
Best to look for examples of successful channels doing what you want to do and see how they are doing it.
@@channelprofits So kinda in the vein of like explaining a philosophy and/or significance of a tv or movie scene, yeah?
@@channelprofits Also what about a clip of 10 seconds where 5 seconds is the audio playing and the remainder being voiceover?
Do you know how I can get some clips from a tv show legally, like which sites I can use I don't think a tv streaming service will allow me to do it without copyright infiringment.
You basically can’t used anything that is copyrighted unless under fair use. And even then it depends how you use it and how aggressive they target people
@@channelprofitswhat do you mean "how agressive they target people?"
Thank you for the advice! In my 15-minute video, I intend to incorporate 4 distinct video clips on various topics. These clips will each range from 30 seconds to 1 minute in duration. I'll be weaving them into a presentation I've carefully crafted. With all these modifications and the transformative nature of my work, does this fall within the realm of fair use?
should be, so long as you are using the content out of context of for educational purposes. It must be transformative.
@@channelprofits thanks for the reply🙌
The thing is that youtube ai detect the video and fall directly in the copyright, so even if it fair use, i wont be able to monetise the video? but the video will still be public?@@channelprofits
@@Outlander_999 The AI will tell you and I would avoid that material. But if you need it you can transform it. the issue would be that you'll be having to deal with claims

if I use videos for shorts from instagram for amazon associate marketing and I replace original voice over and music and add some texts and transitions to it then can I avoid copyright claim ( sorry for bag english)
Depends if it’s copyrighted content. Fair use means you are using for. Different purpose, if it’s the same use for yourself then it’s just stealing. 🤷♂️
I'm thinking doing videos where it educates movie enthusiast about upcoming movies and thinking using small clips from the movie trailers, will it cover by fair use
Depends how you repurpose it
Hei, if i use some motivational speaker clip about 30-40 seconds max, and then i will explain more about what he says, i'm alright? Or i will be demonetized? Thanks!
You could be, but I would still add graphics and other things to the video to make it more original. The more you stop to talk the better. You want the educational part to be more important than the clip itself if possible. Look at how the channel "charisma on command" uses clips to educate.
My sister posts movie clips on her channel and her videos has been getting lots of views and she hasn't gotten any copyright claim so far, she is worried that the channel might not get monitized.
What do you think?
Depends how much she repurposed the clips. If not at all then probably not as it’s reused content
Im.amazed how some people can upload full films and there not taken down . .
They will be at some point
"blocked on some territories" copyright issue blah blah, do I need to get worried with this?
This means it won't get pushed out in all countries due to certain copyrights. The content you are using may be partly copyrighted. Or if not the content is of a nature that some places don't allow it. This is why you want to repurpose as much as possible so it falls under fair use.
@@channelprofits is it considered already as a copyright strike?if not, can I leave it uploaded without any repercussions?
@@alwaysavestheday No shouldn't be a copyright strike. You would be told. This is more similar to a video getting age restricted. But you want to working out what the issue is. Repeating this too much can lead to account issues down the line.

potentially yes. You are using someone elses content. It has to fall under fair use
hi, 1 question, doe you if theres a way to locate the parts of a film which are copyrighted? i ask cuz i tried to upload a film recently and it said parts of the film are copyrighted!!! possibly about 10 mins in total or less! thanx in advance!
uploading will show which parts are filed on UA-cam. Technically they could register everything at any point. So best to always just work with fair use as best you can. You see people do all sorts of things from flipping the video, adding different voices and audio. Try to use stuff that others are using
My son plays piano. When I try to add a video which he played one popular song( we are the world) it says that copy right. But I uploaded only the song he played. Is there any way to upload that kind of videos without having copyright

No as the song isn’t yours, so you don’t have the right. Though there are websites where you can pay for that right

Channels luke tech zone and quantum tech hd can be monetized? They do reuse contant and voice over but the voice over is written. Can we start channel like this or we will not monetize?
The issue with these channels (as a small channel) is that you won't have permission to use the footage of the new tech. If you are talking over the top then it may be fine in terms of repurposing. But it's a grey area
@@channelprofits thanks. I saw that a new youtube channel that calls "Tech Things" is upload in April 2023 and got monetize.

if someone is directly using your content then yes you could request a removal.

Hi, Thank you very much for the video, extremely insightful!
I just started UA-cam where I make short videos (5 min) on sports' champions biographies (i.e. planning to do one on Mike Tyson)...
Hard for me to say. But unless they are aggressive with copyrighting content then it should be fine. As mentioned this will always be a grey area
