  • In Indonesia, the Bajaus, an ancient people of nomadic sailors, live freely in coastal cities. They gave up their nomadic life to settle down in houses on stilts. They have kept a strong relationship with the ocean, and live thanks to fishing. While the men fish, the women sell the excess fish at the market. The Bajaus are a free people, they think they may one day return to the nomadic life.

The 'local fixer' for this documentary must be the same with BBC's The Hunter of The SOuth Seas (look it up), because it featured the same family (Lauda) in the same setting.

Can't help but to wonder if they get hurricanes/typhoons in this area.. I wonder how they deal with that. Where/how the shelter during the storms and if they get weather working so they can prepare..

Luckily, the worst are only heavy rainstorms to be found there. The big islands protect the sea where they live fron typhoons.
