As a Canadian, this was a big moment at the Olympics. And then Vancouver got the Games in 2010 - winter that is. We got made fun of because apparently we needed to bus in snow. We didn’t get a good enough snowfall. No, we don’t live in igloos and Canada isn’t typically a cold country…unless you really go up north. Lytton, BC is one of the hottest cities in Canada or the US, which is near where a lot of the outdoor events took place, in Whistler.
And then Canadians (and everyone else around the world) were bowled over when Celine Dion opened the 2024 Olympics in Paris!

I was 12 when I watched this performance live from Atlanta. This performance GAVE back then and even more so now hearing it as a 40 year old. I can’t wait to see what the 2028 ceremonies in LA will bring… will Celine do it again?! Shoot and bring back that same choir too! And let’s not sleep on Gloria’s 96 Atlanta performance too!!!
